Pretty good 'cue and not a bad stop along the Peak to Peak Highway.  We had the pulled pork and green chile which satisfied my craving for BBQ for a boy from the South.  This was my first time here, so of course I can't compare it to what it used to be like, but geez louise, I can't believe the complaints about this place.  It's a BBQ joint, right?  If you want table service, go to a fancy restaurant where you pay $20 a plate, and if you want gluten-free, just take the meat off the bun or ask them to put it on the side.  My girlfriend has celiac, and it's really not that difficult.

We must have hit a very off night.  The five of us went in last Saturday evening for something to eat.  We liked the rustic atmosphere and there was a band so we were pretty optimistic.  Showed up kind of early but there were a handful of tables already seated.  Our server was friendly and attentive.  We each ordered something different and had some beers and drinks.  So far so good.  The app came, nachos and they were pretty meager but i figured oh well.  Our meals came later and i was looking forward to a good burger, hard to mess that up.   WRONG!
It was ordered med. rare and came out incinerated, mostly char.  Skip the vegetarian green chili, really hard to choke down.  That was the only dish i figured could be dicey anyway.  Ribs, really dry and tough, i think they had sat around the fridge for a while.  The pulled pork was not served hot and was also dry and bland.  The best thing ordered was the chicken fingers for my 4 yr. old.   I hate to writ reviews like this.  I thing the cook must have been coming off a bender.  Lastly, and this is no fault of the restaurant was the band.  They were the early talent but man that guitar player slaughtered some of my favorite tunes.  I am sre this place has seen better days, but next time we will eat in Nederland.

My heart was broken today. We have been going to Stage Stop for a couple of years since living in the foothills. They had FANTASTIC gluten free options, really nice staff, and pleasant owners. ONCE AGAIN...new owners, new menu.
Husband couldn't eat anything (Gluten free is not "optional"). I also noticed that you are now supposed to "look at the menu, order from the bar, and pick up your food".

You can't even afford a wait staff? What a disappointment.
We were always so excited to come here. Now we have no choice but to avoid.

BTW- people with celiac do NOT like being told that "you can get any of the sandwiches without the bun!!!". Kiss my a**

Okay.  I wanted this to be a five. For service, for atmosphere and for the wonderful people who work here.  The brisket was very fatty and covered in BBQ sauce. Vinegar was pungent in it. The meat is smoked, let it speak for itself without BBQ. The hamburger was alright, hard to mess up, yet tasted like frozen meat. The potato salad was awful. Uncooked potatoes. Potato salad is easy!!! Also under seasoned.   Folks I was really looking forward to a good meal.. Don't pass up the location. It may just be the day. The people running it are worth another chance.

The Stage Stop is the best surprise along the Peak to Peak Highway. Wonderful food, decor, people, all in a barn built in 1868 along the train tracks in sleepy Rollinsville.  They often have concerts on the weekends upstairs, and a fun bar downstairs with shuffleboard.

We don't eat meat, so I can't comment on that, but we love their mountain trout with choice of amazing sides (Gorgonzola risotto, the best Brussels sprouts, wonderful mashed potatoes, grilled beets, the lists goes on), and the bean beet burger without a bun for a great vegetarian option.  But I have seen many dishes for carnivores that look pretty amazing too.  Very reasonably priced.

I had the best  Veggie burger I have ever had in my life! It was about 1.5" thick and the bun was toasted and went really well with the french fries.  I was able to drink a nice dark beer. AND they had jazz music playing upstairs on a SUNDAY!!!!! great place.  Good job with what you have done with the place!

4th incarnation of this place in 10 years or so; it's still the stage stop, which is in itself, pretty OK. But food was overpriced, small portions, and not warm. Trying to be more upscale but my penne was in a small diner salad bowl and very uninspired, with a small stale roll. $12.50, who you kidding? Wife's slice of pork from the Sunday pig roast was nothing like the melt in your mouth pig roasts we've both had. WAY too much fat, small ear of cold corn, a side of not fully cooked beans, and also a stale roll. Would prefer the burgers-bbq-fish & chips kind of place it has been in the past. Might split a $9 burger or appetizers in the future (great place for a beer), but no more entrees, that's for sure.

I have fished, biked, hiked and snowboarded up in the high peaks of Boulder County a lot over the years.  I have never really stopped in Rollinsville.  I did so yesterday because we were too lazy to cook our own meal up on Rollins Pass.  I had low expectations on the meal, just because The Stage Stop is the only place for about a 5 mile radius.  This place was awesome!  Excellent, homemade food.  The chips were great, the BLT sandwhich was excellent.  So was the ham and egg sandwich.   Great friendly service as well.  The building has the unique mix of history and art.  I will hit this place again for sure.
