I ordered the soft pretzles and they came out cold. I told the waitress and she took them back then they came back cold again. I told the waitress and they came back nice and warm but the beer cheese dip was stone cold by then and tasted disgusting. The waitress made no mention of just taking them off my tab and I won't be back
Review Source:Beer and drink selections are fantastic. Food is only so-so. I ordered a Caesar salad with "blackened" shrimp that came out as wet iceburg lettuce with about four shrimp that looked to be cooked in a frying pan for a minute or two in some salt and butter. Definitely not blackened. No mozzerella in the salad. The menu description was totally different than what was delivered. Those dining with me enjoyed their pizza and wings, however. I've also had chicken strips here which tasted a little like old frying oil, not a great batter.
My other reason for two stars was our service. Our waitress, Jazmine, forgot one of our diners drink twice and brought us the check without asking us if we'd want anything else to drink. Then I think her shift ended, because she disappeared and no one checked on our table again, so instead of buying another drink, we just paid and left. Â
I love that something other than the Chilis, Applebees, TGIFridays contingent can open in Mesquite and I would love to see this place suceed, but they need to tighten up their service and tweak a few things in the kitchen to get my repeat business.
The Jack D Frost was awesome, like a jack and coke icee. Very unique cocktail! Also had an amber beer (state side's local brew) and it was very good. Fried pickles and peppers are a must!
I've now been here twice, and I've had the cajun burger and the Texas pizza. Â Which were both VERY good. Â The burger was much bigger than expected, and had a ton of flavor. Â Everything tastes fresh. Â The cheese was gooey and smokey from melting onto the meat, and the fries looked/tasted like they were hand cut.
The pizza was awesome, it had marinated onions with fresh jalapeno slices and brisket. Â There was also a light bbq sauce on it too, but it wasn't over bearing. Â Perfect mixture of sauce cheese and ingredients.
They are open late too so it's hard to beat especially if you're like me and wait until late to go grab some dinner and/or a drink. Â Highly recommended.
Mesquite is not known as a "destination" for anyone in DFW, but if you want a change from your normal "dinner and a movie", come on over to the East Side and pair Stateside Pie & Beer with the AMC 30 that sits next door.
I had the Pennsylvania Pie and it was great! I like thick crust, but they also have thin crust options. The greatness of Stateside, though, is in it's selection of beer. They have 40 or so beers on tap... awesome.
And if you sign up for their email promotions, they'll send you coupons for free thangs... free is always good. Check it out!
This place is tucked inside a little restaurant row- finding parking during peak times a difficult- but valet is free with a copy of your receipt. The beer selection is fantastic! The food is good. Think burgers, pizza and a smorgasbord of things wrapped in bacon and either grilled or deep fried. NOT a place for eating healthy ;) I like that they are supporting local brewers and carrying Revolver brews. Thumbs up for that. Staff is knowledgeable and quick. They have 2 happy hours- one from 3-7 and the other from 9-11. It's a good place to hang and watch sports- they have TV's everywhere. There's a huge patio with booths, tables, firepits- great for when the weather warms up.
Review Source:Think you know comfort food? Think again. Stateside will show you what it really means to be comforted by cheesy, chocolaty, yummy made-from-scratch goodness. To say that my inner big girl (Shelby) was in heaven is an understatement. Where else in the world can you get fried funnel cake batter applewood-bacon wrapped Snickers bars? Yep, you read that correctly! And they have spins on more traditional options items too. Jalapeno poppers made fresh and wrapped in warm bacon, buffalo chicken blue cheese dip, fried pickles with an incredible spicy homemade sauce, Cajun, California and Texas pizzas and more! Best of all: almost every menu option is made with local ingredients!
Aside from their extensive menu of creative savory eats, their craft beer selection is pretty ridiculous! I'm slowly learning the world of craft beer and I have to say that Revolver's Blood & Honey ranks up there as a favorite. It's got a light taste with a hint of honey- refreshing and good!
The staff is hospitable and knowledgeable. They are proud of their menu, so ask questions when you order! They know their stuff. The place has got lunch and happy hour specials out the wazoo, so it helps to check out their menu before going and see what's happening that day. I don't get out to Mesquite too often, but when I do- Stateside will be on my list of places to grub and relax (especially come football season). Great sports bar with fantastic food.
My only complaint is that they didn't have beds in the back for a quick nap!
These reviews are sad !! Tonight was my first night visiting despite the bad reviews. So I went in a little worried. As I walked through the door, i seen there were sbout a hundred huge tvs EVERYWHERE !! I was greeted by a very lovely host named Aaliyah. She had a wonderful personality &' a giant white bow! She seated us immediately &' gave us things to try as it was our first time. She recommended the chicken tenders &' the fried s'mores. Then had to go back.. It was sad to see her go. Our server came almost immediately and greeted us, got our drinks &' in less than five minutes, we were drinking. The 44 draft beers were overwhelming to choose from. We ordered the Louisiana pizza &' opted to share some regular fries. The pizza was soo spicy, &' the hot sauce made it that much more hot. The flavor was CRAZY !! The fries dipped in the original honey mustard was unique and I recommend everyone to try that combo !! Then we got the fried s'mores &' it was like I was a kid at the fair all over again. Even while we were eating, That same host came back to check on us to make sure everything was good. Her smile was contagious. I loved this place. So did my husband &' his beer buddies. Next time ill bring the rest of my family. Definitely on my fav list !
Review Source:I never like to write low reviews, but I had an experience that started off well that quickly turned into a bad one. Firstly, none of it was the waiter's fault, she was very nice and helpful. A group of us decided to check this place out considering it just opened  up not too long ago. We proceeded to place our order, once our food was brought to our table almost all of our pizza's that we ordered were missing ingredients or were completely done wrong (the waiter wrote everything down right, so the mistake was in the back). It wouldn't have been a big deal if we hadn't waited 30-35 minutes for our food to come out, which we didn't mind until the manager then took the pizza's back, and left us with just 1 that was ordered correctly. It took another 30-35 minutes for the pizzas that were redone to come back out which lead to all of us eating at separate times because otherwise our food would get cold. The manager then came out, apologized and told us that he would take "care of us" on the bill. The time finally came where our bill was given to us and everything was charged like normal.. Now I didn't mind paying the whole bill, but if a restaurant manager comes out to tell you that he'll take care of something on the bill for you, I expect him to follow up on his word and provide the appropriate customer service. Well we then asked the manager about the bill and he then has the nerve to say that we can get an additional "free appetizer" if we would like... this was AFTER we had already finished up our food...  he didn't even offer to remove our already existing appetizer off the bill. This place just upset the whole group, and ruined our first experience here and we will definitely not be coming back here. This is a new place, and they seriously need to reconsider their management already.
As far as the food, the Jalapeno poppers were delicious and spicy! but the pizza was mediocre, this is not on the top of my list as far pizza places go.
If you love apathy, you'll love Stateside.
Went here to try it for the first time and get a "to go" order. I waited for over 45 minutes for my food. The bartender didn't seem to care about my wait, only checking on my order once. The place wasn't even that busy. After it was ready, he stacked all 3 cartons and threw some silverware on top of the cartons. I waited for a bag but that wasn't happening.
After leaving, I was on my way home and decided to check. my food I know I should have checked at Stateside especially after that long wait. One order was wrong and all the food was cold. I had to swing by a fast food place to get a warm meal.
I called the manager to complain but all Manager Jaime could offer was more food delivered or a coupon the next time I come. Why would anyone return to a place that ruined your lunch?
30 bucks for 2 burgers and a dessert. Wasted.
You get 1 time to make a first impression and this one ensured I won't be back.
The food is not great but the beer selection is fantastic, as good as any of the best beer bars in town. Â
We had the buffalo chicken dip which was actually very good but it came with Frito scoops. Don't get me wrong, I like Frito scoops but I think they could have come up with something a little more creative for dipping, like some thin crispy pizza crust pieces or something. The pizza was not good really, especially for a place that is supposed to specialize in pies. The cheese was bland and tasteless, the sauce was boring, and the crust was maybe slightly underdone. Also the pizza was not hot when we got it.
My wife tried a mixed drink, some version of a margarita and it was terrible. Â She sent it back and got a cider. I say, go for the beer, skip the mixed drinks, maybe try something besides the pizza. I think we'll go back and give them another shot, as they've just opened up. Â I'll definitely go back for the beer.
Great patio! Sat outside by the fire pit on a typical December day when it was 80 degrees and windy. Our server suggested a couple great beers and we started with the buffalo chicken dip, which is one of my favorite apps to make at home. Stateside's was true to form with plenty of Louisiana hot sauce and blue cheese, served with Frito scoops. Nice touch. For dinner, we had two "small" pizzas, which were actually enough for more like three or four people. I had the Texas (brisket, BBQ sauce, jalapenos and cheese), served deep-dish style. My GF had the Cali (Chicken, avocados and some other "healthy" stuff), served Focaccia-style. Both were pretty good, with fresh flavors and hearty-sized. We finished with a crazy State Fair-inspired dessert: Bacon-wrapped snickers, battered in funnel cake batter, deep-fried, dusted with powdered sugar and served on a stick. Came out about the size of a raquetball. Sounds gross, but it worked so well: Perfect combination of salty and sweet.
Review Source:Hubby and I were cruising around when we saw this place. I swerved all the way over and almost got hit by a car. I really shouldn't drive when hungry...
Walked in and sat at the bar. I was stoked to try out everything but hubby not so much. Guess he didn't like the beer prices. We were sort of greeted by a few female bartenders but they kept disappearing so service was spotty. In fact the bartender making the drinks for the entire restaurant was the one who ended up taking care of of. His name was Brandon and he used to be a bar manager so he was fantastic at carrying on a conversation and recommending drinks within the cheap price range. I tried a purple people eater for the first time and it was excellent. I think Brandon was the highlight of our evening there. His attentive service was appreciated but no so much by the staff. He got major attitude from the 200+ managers and servers because he was supposedly not moving fast enough but I literally sat and watched him and he was doing quite well. Especially considering that he was doing his job and that of the crappy female bartenders who were no where to be found most of the time. I don't understand why a brand new restaurant that's maybe at 35% capacity needs to have like 20 servers and 3 managers on duty. Most of them stood around doing nothing. Save some money and apply that to your food. The pizza crust was delicious but sauce was lacking. I wish I had more to say about the food but for now I'll leave it at that. In case a manager is reading this...the extra star is solely because of that guy Brandon who is helping ya'll out.
We went last Tuesday because of reviews and we were so excited about a new pizza place in Mesquite. Jalapeno poppers were delish! The pizza was awful, so bad we could not eat it. The crust was raw, not just underdone, but RAW!!! Awful! We weren't going to say anything but I think the manager must have seen my face when I took a bite. Then my husband told me his crust was also raw. I went outside because I couldn't deal with the let-down. The manager was very kind in comp'ing our pizzas which we were wiling to pay for even though we took one bite and that was it for us. She graciously was going to comp the poppers and beer, but we do not like to take advantage so we paid for what we ate and drank. The people behind us also got horrible pizza, but the couple behind them had good pizza. Go figure. Needless to say, our 3 booths were compensated for one thing or another. The couple who liked the pizza - well, we got their poppers. I hope this place gets 100% better and that reviewers are honest. We can't be the only people who have eaten there that have had bad luck.
Review Source:I realize that the place is new and they have a million waitresses ready to go, but its annoying to have 20 18-year old girls standing around with nothing to do but complain. Â A few of the bartenders seem to be ok, the food is good and the place is nice. Â that being said, they need to train the wait staff better if they want this place to do good.
Review Source:We went for the first time after finding out that they were opening this past Monday.
We started out with the Bombers, which were FRESH jalapenos (Crunchy fresh) stuffed with cheese and wrapped in bacon. Seriously if that was all we had I would have been happy there. Â The Pie I got was the Californian on thick crust, Very tasty. I am looking forward to trying the Cajun one next time. :)
The Waitstaff is inexperienced but very nice, and the manager came over and had a nice conversation with us, about the place.
If you have room for desert I would recommend the Bacon Wrapped Snickers dipped in Funnel Cake batter and deep fried......
