This place is under new ownership as of July 1st and I see it changing for the better already. Went for lunch the other day and our burgers were delicious, fries were soo good. Our server Edith was friendly and attentive. Can't wait to see what changes the rest of the year brings for this very charming venue.

Not much  to do in Gilroy on a Saturday night but Station 55 does have a band. It played a lot of good songs from the 70s. The band was good, singers average. My friends wanted to dance but they played too many slow songs. I finally had to ask them to play three in a row so the girls could dance....which they did. Not a lot of dancers here...just spectators. Also, the dance floor is pretty small. This could have been remedied by taking out the two front tables. Also, I got the calamari....that was disappointing. They piled it on top of iceberg lettuce so it looks like your getting a lot. Seriously! Not to mention it was refried and overpriced for something that looked like I could have got it from Costco.

Station 55 is a local dive owned and operated by family. When I am craving the juicy greasy stuff, Station 55 is the place. When I am craving a drink with friends or family, Station 55 is the place.

The 3 STAR rating means the place is A-OK. Expect the service to be pleasantly relaxed and some may describe the service as slow; however, there is no rush. Enjoy the old school decor and the hometown feel.

I love to eat breakfast at this dive and a cheeseburger with fries during lunch. The refills are outstanding, since I love to drink ICE TEA.

However, I hope the people pick up their game and improve customer service. The food is good, but can be improved. Not sure if Station 55 has new cooks or if their recipe has change, but the food is just ok.

My friends and I frequent the place on weekends to enjoy live music and drinks. The entertainment is loads of fun. But don't expect dressy classy. Do expect a good relaxed time.

I will keep going back to support this local Gilroy dive.

Stopped here while visiting friends. Had the 3.99 breakfast special. The biscuits and gravy are delicious.

    HORRIBLE!!!

My family and I just left after having "lunch" here. The service was PAINFULLY slow. By the time the food arrived, I could have enjoyed three more beers than the one I had, but that would have probably required me going into the back and getting it myself. Our food was rather bland, once the raw meat I ordered was sent back to be cooked to medium-well like I requested. Really bummed this place was such a bad experience, it looks so awesome from outside :/

We had to ASK for napkins, and then ASK for silver wear, which we were informed would have to be pulled from the sink and washed...usually something I do BEFORE seating and serving a table.

It is under new ownership, I overheard the new owner talking to some customers, and hopefully things work out for him. It sounds as if he may need to get off of his high horse and focus on better training for his staff for this to happen though...

Will never eat here again, and suggest others to stay away. Several MUCH better choices in Gilroy for great food.

If my family and I want breakfast we usually come here. It's the cheapest price (3.99 breakfast plate) and its pretty consistent when it comes to quality of food. The only downfall would be the service, depending on who you get it is a hit or miss. The waitress we had recently was really sweet and checked up on us to see how we were doing, but another that we've gotten a few times in the past was pretty bad. She always looks stressed and annoyed like she doesn't want to be there. So you always feel weird asking for more water or coffee when she should be asking us when she notices our cups are empty. Though it may take a while to get some water or your check, the food comes out quick enough. We still like supporting them since it is a locally owned business but don't expect a warm welcome from the waiters.

We haven't been for lunch but prices still seem reasonable, just not sure about taste.

I was so excited to try this place out! I absolutely love supporting the downtown businesses. We came here on a Friday evening, and it wasn't too busy; there was no wait at all, which we appreciated. But when I walked in, I was immediately disappointed with the way the place looked - kind of a "Chili's" / "Applebee's" feel to it. The food & beverage was the same way:
    1. slow-cooked tritip, although spiced well, was way too well-done
    2. veggies on the side were bland
    3. my cocktail was watered down

The most disappointing part was our waitress. You could tell she didn't want to be there, and I think she actually forgot about us at one point!
Like I said, I really wanted to support this business, but unfortunately, I don't think we'll be back.

2.5 stars, after some thought ultimately rounded down not up. I really wanted to enjoy Station 55 because I had heard good things about it, and I like to support downtown Gilroy restaurants and businesses. Unfortunately, I was not particularly impressed.

The food was pretty standard traditional American. We had the slow cooked tri tip, which was cooked and spiced well. The vegetables that came on the side were bland and a little undercooked. The potato boats (appetizer) were pretty good.

They had a decent selection of beer on tap, including both Lagunitas IPA and Sierra Nevada pale ale, which are two of my favorites. However the rum and coke that my wife ordered was flat and a little under-rummed (is rummed a word? It is now!).

The vibe is not fancy or upscale at all, but is kind of cool. There is an upstairs bar area where bands play and they have karaoke, with tables inside and outside. The upstairs outside option is cool.

Our server was definitely the most disappointing aspect of our time there. She seemed super distracted, forgot to bring us a couple of things until we reminded her, and looked like she would rather be anywhere in the world than in that restaurant helping us.

3 star food, 1 star service, and bonus points for having a live music venue upstairs and a decent beer selection.

Place was an old firehouse I think. Very open, high ceilings, very noisy. There was not alot of places to sit. We had a big party and there was another big party and between the 2 of us, I think we used every table in the place.  They were so close together that I had to nearly go outside the back door and come in the front door again just to use the washroom.  Food was Ok, the lasagna was not that great, but others in our group raved on their food.

I would have like to try this place out, From the outside it looks so nice and walking in too. It kind of gives you the feeling that your walking into a firehouse. I walked in and looked around and it looked pretty busy. I was on my lunch hour so I didn't have very long. When I walked I waited to be seated and then after 5 minutes an older lady assist me and seats me and forget making eye contact she just carries on. After waiting about 10 minutes I look around and realize that its really busy and maybe this wasn't the best place to coming during my lunch hour so I walk out. Maybe next time I will order something to go.

My boyfriend and I come here often and We enjoy it. in fact we walked there today with our dog and had a great experience.  They accomodated our dog with some nice ice water and went out of their way to make sure we were happy.

As far as food,  The peppersteak is really good, and there is something about their ranch dressing that I just love.We also like their jalepeno poppers because they don't blanch them.  They will burn your mouth off!!

I haven't had the burgers in a while but I remember being somewhat dissapointed last time I ordered one.

I think that Station 55 is best for breakfast.  My family goes to breakfast here almost every week.  We get the 3.99 breakfast speacial or the breakfast burrito, both of which are solid, always great breakfast options. The waittresses are always REALLY ATTENTIVE during breakfast and they are all very friendly.

If you're looking for food with more quality (this food is just intended to be diner food) I would recommend going to Old city Hall down the street.  It is owned by the same owner and the food is a little more "refined"

My advice would be Station 55 for breakfast or a laid back dinner and Old City Hall for something nicer (environment and food).

My grandparents love to eat here. I enjoy it as well, they have a decent on tap beer selection and the upstairs is cool if you want to enjoy some music or watch a game.

I've never been disappointed with any of the food I've ordered and the price point is really good! The value overall I'd say is excellent.

Minus one star for because the benches on some of the booths are torn pretty badly. Minor detail. I'll sit at a table thanks.

This place was ok for me.  I ordered a combo appetizer platter.  The breading on my chicken strips fell off so i was a little disappointed with that, but the other items i ordered we good.  Im glad that they offer really onion rings instead of those nasty frozen kind most restaurants serve.  The portion was more than enough for one person at lunch time.  Maybe next time i will try a burger or their breakfast, it looked really good!

I started coming here because I knew someone in a band that would play here and since then have started to come for their Karaoke nights on Tuesdays or Thursdays. I'd recommend Thursday nights for Karaoke because there are usually more people and the vibe is great. The KJ's on Thursdays are friendly and wonderful, but the rotation for singers doesn't seem to follow the way that other places with Karaoke do their rotation, which means sometimes me and my friends wait a very long time before singing.
I've never tried any of the food here though, just the bar drinks and they are decent-- cheap and okay.

Food here is your typical American fare.  It wasn't terrible, but it was nothing amazing.  The funniest part about this place is its ability to charge you for wrong items at wrong prices.  If you come here, make sure you look at the bill and make sure it's correct.  We had all different kinds of things added to our bill and miscalculations.  Don't get jipped!

I have eaten there multiple times and have had great breakfasts. The staff is always friendly and willing to accommodate all my needs. During the week they have a $3.99 breakfast special! and a great breakfast for that price is a winner in my eyes. I went there for comedy night a couple times and had a blast.

Been enjoying food here for years. I recently moved into Gilroy and I can now enjoy their delicious menu DAILY!  The Chicken Walnut Salad with Raspberry Dressing is the best I have tasted. Great Garlic Bread and terrific sandwiches. Oh, and their soups are home made and very, very tasty.
Service is quick and friendly. The whole atmosphere is friendly with patrons talking amongst themselves.  Great Bar too.

    TL;DR

Great location and decor. My son loved all the fire engine memorabilia and the atmosphere. That is worth one star.

We went here for breakfast and it was just packed. There was a single serving lady who was in charge of every table, and there looked to be about twelve active tables. There was one asian lady would occasionally appear to take dishes away, but that still left this one poor woman to take all the orders, refill drinks, and process payments at the cash register. Really, guys?

The food was damned awful. My family and I decided to try something different as we always go to Garlic City for breakfast. We thought, "what the heck, why not try something new in Gilroy?". I ordered the biscuits and gravy with a side of sausage and scrambled eggs. It was 8.99.
Well, I got two very small, undercooked biscuits and the most salty, bland, chunky gravy I've ever tasted. I was starving, so I ate one of them  before giving up entirely. The eggs? Yellow and tough. Tasteless even with salt and pepper applied. The  sausage? I wouldn't know, the over-worked and stressed out serving lady gave my bacon instead...bacon which was so black and brittle it fell to pieces before I could eat it effectively. I couldn't even hope to flag her down amidst the chaos in the dining room.

We won't ever be back for breakfast. I hope there is some saving grace on their lunch or dinner menu, but I just can't imagine it being that much better if they can't even cook eggs or bacon properly. Such a promising location, such a kitchen nightmare.

We three adults visited this restaurant on a Wednesday around 7:30pm.   The place was Not busy and we were seated immediately.

    - A very pleasant waitress came to the table, presented menus, asked two of the adults for their beverage order and left to get their drinks.   (I must have been invisible as I was not asked for my drink order)         -- The lady in our group ordered a martini and when I asked about her drink, she reported that it was "weak."   The other in our party ordered beer.     Eventually I was asked, and I requested Fresh coffee.

    - The waitress, who was the only one on duty and had a very joyful attitude, returned to take our food orders.    She was very accomodating with our different, though not out-of-line food requests.    (No butter on one dish, no garlic on another dish)
    - Again I asked about my coffee, and the waitress apologized for forgetting.

    - Our food arrived within an appropriate amount of time and all appeared well.  One in our group ordered the Shrimp Scampi and the other the Tilapia dinner.   I opted for the Rib-Eye steak.
-- Prior to our entrees arriving, one in our party asked for a dinner salad with Bleu Cheese dressing.  The dressing was nothing more than a small tub of Sour Cream!  Two of us asked for soup (Cream of Broccoli) and it was quite good.  Their "Firehouse" rolls are worth missing.

--  While the others enjoyed their dinner, I found the Rib-Eye to be a nice sized cut of meat, yet Very Tough to cut and chew.   The mixed vegetables on my plate were Cold, while the baked potato was just about right, temperature-wise.
I asked for butter (only) for the baked potato.  I noticed an odd taste with the baked potato, and quickly realized the butter I put on the baked potato was rancid!  Ugh!
I immediately reported this problem to the waitress and she was most accomodating telling us she was grateful for having been told about the butter, and she offered another baked potato.  I declined.
Our waitress for the evening was an absolute delight.
    - The meals were...  a bit lack-lustre, and my Rib-Eye steak had the potential to be quite good, but was not.     We will likely return as things were not Completely Bad... and we can see room for improvement.

-- On the web site for this restaurant, it's time to update the menu and prices.

Nothing special. The first time I went there I ordered their lasagna and couldn't even cut trough that with a steak nife so I told the waitress she was nice and exchanged that for the steak which was OK. Then I gave it another try today got the lemon chicken very dry and just bland their salad was ugly looking with dead iceberg lettuce. I sat outside which took me forever to get a refill not happy with it I don't think I will be going back.

Stopped by on our way home after shopping at the outlet mall.

Overall it was a solid experience. Most of the food we ordered arrived in a timely manner and was prepared well, the service was attentive, and the prices were not out of line.

We started with the hot wings and they were the low point of the meal. The chicken was overcooked to the point of being crunchy in some places (the meat was crunchy) and it tasted like they hadn't cut the hot sauce (Frank's) with anything (butter is traditional) so it was way too sharp.

However, the burgers we ordered were excellent. Mine was their "basic" burger and they pulled off a good sear without drying out the patty. My friend had the jalapeno burger and was very satisfied, as well. She enjoyed the "C.A.W. cole slaw" (which stands for cranberries, apple, and walnuts) and she commented that it wasn't an "also-ran" dish, that it wasn't there to just take up space on the plate. I had the fries and they were perfect: crispy, tender, and just the right amount of salt.

Worth noting: They took advantage of tomatoes being in season.

We were stuffed. For me, uncomfortably so seeing as I did all the heavy lifting on the wings. Our tab came to $30, not bad given the quality of the food.

The building itself is a bit hard to see from the street due to some beautiful trees out front, it used to be a firehouse and much of the character inside has been maintained. The upstairs is more of a sports bar while downstairs felt very comfortable for lunch.

This place has the potential to take it to the next level. There is already attention to detail, so a little spit and polish to tighten up the weaker menu items is really all it would take to make this a 5-star diner.

Some of the worst service I've ever experienced!!!  My family (hispanic with 2 kids) walked in and no one greeted us for about 5mins. A Caucasian family walks In and is greeted immediately at the door!  Isn't this 2012!!!  Food not worth the price, website prices are totally wrong!

More bar than restaurant. Nice place to come and drink, not a nice place to eat. Did not enjoy garlic fries, very greasy and somehow overcooked/undercooked simultaneously.
Nachos also disappointing, I appreciate the homemade chips, but the toppings were lackluster.

Having said all that, the prices were awesome as it was happy hour, I ate at the bar and the barman was nice enough.

Next time I'm in town, I'll try somewhere else instead.

Walked in & the OWNER quickly pointed out that the table we went towards was reserved. No prob, he sat us at another table. We stayed at that table for 3-hrs. We got up to dance (live band-JJ Hawg=awesome) & the owner took our FULL drinks & sat someone else he knew in our place. When we approached him, he rudely said, "I'll get you new Fu@ken drinks, I'm the owner."   The band, waitresses and bartenders were great. The owner is an arrogant di#k. Bummer, we left shortly thereafter.

We stopped by for lunch and were seated at a dirty table that had dishes/tip left from a previous customer.  The dirty dished stayed on the table for over 10 minutes.  No one came by to give us a menu so I got up and found only 1 menu.  When the waitress did show up she took our drink orders only and left the dishes.  She returned with the drinks and finally took the dishes away but didn't bother to wipe the table.  A bus boy came by to clean the table next to us and we had to ask him for napkins.  He brought the napkins but failed to notice we didn't have any silverware.

We ordered our lunch which took forever.  (One thing I've learned from eating there on previous occasions is it takes a long time to get the food.)  I noticed other customers were not happy with the service either.  When we got our lunch, she asked if there was anything else we needed?  I mentioned that silverware would be nice.

My friend ordered a salad that came with the fish lunch.  He never got the salad!  That's right, they forgot to bring the salad!

The food was good (minus the salad), but the service was absolutely terrible.  Needless to say no tip was left.

This place is horrible. If you like disgusting food, bad music, and douche bags serving you then by all means you should eat here AND THAT WAS THE OWNER HELPING US. One of the biggest unbleached a$$holes i have ever met. Do yourself a favor eat somewhere that actually respects their customers. I'd rather eat at Jack in the Box.

Very disappointing. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant when we got there. My husband asked what beers they had on draft. The waitress listed 3. Later, there was another party at the table next to us. The beer they wanted was out but we heard her say "We have an IPA on draft" WHAT??? When I asked her why she hadn't mentioned the IPA to us, she said it was upstairs! I was not impressed.

We went there because I had been told the fish and chips were amazing. The fish was good, but the fries we're not. We started with potato skins. Nothing special. "Firehouse Rolls" - I was imagining some type of home made rolls, instead of rolls out of a package that had just been nuked.

We will definitely never go back.

    Don't go here for lunch.

I went in with a buddy today during our lunch break.  It was busy, but there were some open tables.  We were seated and it took about ten minutes for us to get our drinks ordered.  We still didn't have menus.  We were finally given menus once we received our drinks and put our orders in.

Now, most people usually only have an hour for their lunch break.  After about 50 minutes, we still hadn't received our food.  We got up to leave, and asked to get the bill for our drinks.  As we were doing this, the lead server told us that our food was coming out now.  We informed her that our lunch break is up, and we need to get back to work.  She told us she would box it for us.  Unfortunately, my job doesn't allow me to eat and work at the same time, and I tried explaining it to the waitress.  I don't believe she got it, though.  She ended up just charging us for one meal, and the other was free.

We didn't realize until the middle part of the 50 minute wait that they had a large party upstairs.  If that's the case, it might behoove them to inform guests that they are busy and might not be able to get food out right away before they seat them.

We most likely won't be going back.  Just not a good experience.

Stopped by on a rainy Friday night coming back from San Jose. You can pick between downstairs restaurant seating or upstairs bar and dining crowd with tvs and deck.

Great drinks, fabulous service from waitress upstairs and downstairs. All very friendly and accommodating. Food was Delish with exception of prime rib whic came out warm not hot but they explained why that is and are accommodating to make it right.

I will definitely be back here for drinks, clam chowder and onion rings. Great local spot with music after 9pm

We were out shopping and were HUNGRY, looked on Yelp and this place came up!
    How thankful were we!?
The service was on point and the food was delicious (clean bathroom too).
I had the Station 55 and devoured the whole thing!!!

This place was great. I yelped it first and decided to ignore the comments that seemed like they came from high maintenance diners. I've been a waitress, so I get it, you can't please everyone.

In any case... the food was fantastic. I was looking for somewhere near the train station, as I was coming from San Francisco to visit family. So my mom and I went in on a Friday night a few weeks back...

The place was pretty quiet downstairs, but apparently upstairs was packed, as it was karaoke night. Our waitress was super attentive and very friendly, even though my mom is full of random ass questions for any waitstaff.

She  (the waitress, I should have asked her name, blonde?)  helped me chose the fish and chips over the tri-tip sandwich. The batter on the fish was light and crispy, like a well done tempura batter. So freaking delicious! The fries were great...and I forget what my mom had, but I know that was awesome as well.

I had a couple of beers...and we sat and ate without being rushed or ignored. Our waitress was again, super friendly and was always within range to see if we needed something.

So the food was pretty great...even though the location might be sketchy, so says my mom... go there, ignore the complaints about being ignored. Sometimes shit happens when a restaurant is busy. Suck it up.

The food REALLY needs some flavor. At the very least I would expect some garlic, as this town hails itself as the "garlic capital of the world." I think the earlier review that mentioned "costco" products might be correct. The food tastes like it came out of a package, with no attempt to season or flavor the food. The food did not taste like it was "bad," or "spoiled", or anything like that. It is almost as if the cook, just does not know how to cook.

My beer was flat, my tri tip had no flavor, the biscuits they served along with the meal tasted and looked like it came from one of those cans that peel open with cardboard sides. The "Chicken Tortilla Soup" did not have any tortillas and did not have any flavor. The only flavor in the soup was from the burn marks on the grilled chicken inside of it.

The service was awful, by far the worst I have had in awhile. I tried to wave down the waitress to ask for some tabasco or other hot sauce to try and salvage the soup. I gave up by the time the soup got cold, and added a lot of black pepper instead.

Again, I tell you the service was really awful. I did not finish my food, as it did not have any flavor. I didn't finish my beer, as it was flat. I decided to cut my losses, and get out of the place. This proved to be a difficult task, as after 5 or 6 times the waitress passed my table, she ignored me again as I tried to call her over. (all this time with my credit card in plain view) I eventually resorted to waving my credit card in the air, which was ignored the first few attempts. ( A few girls drinking outside the creepy "window" next to my table, at a table that faces inwards towards my table seemed greatly amused by this.)

I promise, I will never go back to this place. I promise that anyone who mentions the town of Gilroy or anything nearby will warned to stay away from this place.

    I'm impressed.

These guys are in an uphill battle, they're in downtown Gilroy.

I was hungry, and went into Sue's on the corner. Maybe they had eggs, and I could get a ham and cheese croissant with egg. They had specials, ravioli with meatballs. I asked the tall gal. Not too great she said, Like high school food? I asked. Yeah, kinda. Just not real great. OK, thank you. I went out the door.

I had a Plan B. Station 55. Which I'd never tried. Keep in mind I was hungry. Hungry people don't hesitate and consider, they grunt and point. Menu. Station 55 burger $5.55 sure gimmee one of those. With potato salad.

It took a little while, but I've waited longer. I had ice water since I was driving my friend's car. I got fries by mistake, and said something but I didn't want the plate taken away to re-do it, SOP in most places. Said it was fine. I asked for ranch dressing to dip the fries in because I'm sick like that, and I got a little bowl of potato salad too. The burger was outstanding. Like you're at a friend's house and they cook a burger for you, and they're a decent cook. The fries were outstanding and in quantity. I told the waitress I was glad I got the fries by mistake, they're good. But on trying my little sampler bowl of potato salad, I found it was also quite good.

With a tip the meal cost me about $7. This is what a McD's Angus meal costs. I'll take Station 55 every time.

Now that we have eaten here several times I am adding an additional star to my initial rating.

We have ordered several items from the menu.  Each has been good or very good.  I think they have one of the best tasting hamburgers in town and for only $5.55 you just can't go wrong.

Since the weather is warm we make a point of sitting outside when we eat and watch the town go by.

The service has been good and the owners have been a delight.

Best value and taste for your money!

    We are now regulars.

Station 55...how cute of a restaurant are YOU?!? :)

The bf and I wanted to find a place after shopping at the Outlets and did not want a franchise/chain restaurant. Looked on Yelp and decided on Station 55, based off our search for "garlic fries" :)

We're glad we did! This is such a cool joint in Old Gilroy. Lots of parking around the area, so no problem finding a spot. It's a big restaurant with 2 levels. Both levels have bars, and on the top was where there was a stage with a live band performing. Pretty cool! We decided we wanted a chill dinner so we stayed on the first level so it wouldn't be too loud.

The menu is really affordable. I had a hard time deciding between the tri tip platter and the rib eye. We decided to share the rib eye steak plate (12 oz) for $12.95 and it came with salad or soup, choice of baked potato, mashed potatoes or rice, and grilled vegetables. We also ordered a basket of garlic fries for $3.95. Hey - we're in Gilroy. You can smell the garlic in the air, so we had to get garlic fries!

The food was great! 12 ounces is a pretty generous portion size for $12.95. With all the side dishes (plus dinner rolls), it was good that we shared. The meat was really tender and juicy, with a different seasoning and marinade than I'm used - I think it was a sweeter bbq? Whatever it was, I liked it! The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy, with a good seasoning. The veggies were OK....but hey, they're veggies - not quite the star of the meal. Loved the garlic fries! They gave generous amount of the garlicky seasoning so that every fry had the garlic flavor, which was great. The fries themselves were decent (nothing out of this world), so the garlic-ness gave it some much needed oomph.

The service was great, attentive and helpful when we asked for recommendations. Overall a nice restaurant experience and would definitely come back if I'm in the area. I'd love to try other stuff on the menu too :)

The food at Station 55 is like your basic diner food - nothing special - kind of boring and bland.

The salads are made with iceberg lettuce, unripe tomatoes and store bought, pre-packed and dry croutons w/ store bought bottled dressing. The kind you get at Denny's.

The steak dinners are OK. The meat is OK. Nothing spectacular but not bad either. It's generally cooked OK. The mashed potatoes are bland and kind of out-dated. The frozen, watery, over-cooked vegetables a complete waste.

After a recommendation to go to another restaurant around the corner from Station 55, we saw a long line of people waiting to get into that restaurant and immediately had a change of plan.

We walked down the street and were immediately drawn to the charm of the outside of Station 55.  After glancing at the menu, we walked in felt the warmth of this new find.

My husband immediately recognized one of the band members of Vent and said hello.  Come to find out that this band member, Junior, is also a karaoke dj at Station 55!

After a nice lunch of deliciously prepared burgers (albeit c-o-l-d fries - yuck) we talked to the owner.  What a gentleman!  He is first class and so warm & welcoming.  He is VERY proud of his restaurant and he spent about 20 minutes showing us around the historical building.  He talked about the renovations he & his wife did and his plans for the future growth of this restaurant/bar.  You can tell they put their hearts into this business and they even have their daughter making their sweets!

The service was spot on and never had to wait for a glass refill!

There is definitely a "Cheers" atmosphere with warm staff that makes you want to keep coming back!  Thanks for the great experience & we will definitely be back!

After Mrs Coot and I attended the 2010 Gilroy Garlic Festival we decide to do some antique shopping in downtown Gilroy and get a bite before flying back north.  We asked a local police officer (they know where the best eats are) for a recommendation who immediately said "Station 55"!

We were greeted at the door by the owners, Bobby and Fran; both of whom are experienced restaurateurs (be sure to ask them their backgrounds).

Needless to say Station 55 is a historic fire station and has served as a restaurant for several years transforming itself from a pizza place to the unique place it is today.

The Station has a full, but limited, bar and a limited wine list as well.

We started our gastronomic travel by sharing poppers and mini chimichanga's.  The cream cheese poppers were excellent and chimi's came with a spicy dipping sauce which enhanced the wonderful flavors.  Mrs Coot had a steak sandwich (like a cheese steak, but without the cheese).  She commented that it had good flavors but was overall flat and really could use cheese.  I had a mushroom, bacon and swiss hamburger.  The quality of the hamburger was lean and excellent.  Again, it was flat in flavor.  Both meals came with garlic fries (what else for Gilroy) that were done perfectly with just the right mount of garlic - not over powering.

Bobby & Fran's daughter is the pastry chef, but unfortunately we were too full to take advantage.  However, we got two chocolate velvet cupcakes to go which we had for bedtime snack - absolutely wonderful and full of flavor with cream cheese frosting.

We will definitely be back the next time we're in the neighborhood.

Much better than the previous establishment.

This is where the Inmate Apparel Bike Run ended. We had the upstairs to ourselves with a DJ and buffet. The bar upstairs poured a nice drink and the waitresses they provided for our party were more than on top of a bunch of bikers mess. Plus the food was much better than the Happy Dog place that used to be here.

All in all I recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to have a decent meal, bike run or not.
