Service was super slow.  When the bartender finally come to acknowledge us, we told him we wanted to place our order.  He told us,"No, just order drinks," because he had another table to get to first.  There were less than three tables occupied in this entire pub.  Food less than average, including a charred burger that needed to be sent back.  We were going strong during a wine tour, but this place killed our momentum.

If you can, catch a game here and enjoy the beer specials. If you really want to be blown out of the water eat some food.  The western burger is literally the best burger I've ever had, and it's Paired with freshly cut fries!  "Tater tots for grown ups" as I read them described don't disappoint!  The meatloaf also looked delicious, so next time I'll be enjoying some of that paired with mashed potatoes.  This place isn't serving the traditional pub fare, they're going above and beyond by leaps and bounds!

Came here based on yelp reviews... Must have been a bad day. Salad I ordered was wrong despite asking twice my specifications. Salad for $13 was a plate of lettuce cheese and plain walnuts snd a coulle if cherries. Really? Tables were left dirty despite only two other families in place. Will NOT be back.

My date and I ended up here after a day of wine and cider tasting with his friends.  They warned me to not expect typical pub fare here, and they were correct.

We sat at the bar in order to watch the Michigan/Kansas game and the owner himself served us our drinks and food.  I ordered the poached pear glazed salmon and he ordered the meatloaf.  The salmon was great and I even tried a bite of the meatloaf (even though I despise it) and it was surprisingly good.

We stayed most of the evening so we wouldn't miss any of the game and I always had a drink in front of me, which I appreciate during an important game.

I enjoyed my meal and company and I'm sure I will find my way back here again.

*FOY* - This is a new term I will use, for things I find while searching Yelp, Found On Yelp starts today.  Visiting some of the wineries this weekend, I knew things would be slower, but a lot of places are just plain closed...  It's okay, I get it...but this place...this place was OPEN.  I found great reviews on yelp, as well as TripAdvisor.  One even mentioned Courtney, who was our server and.   She was WONDERFUL~  to say the least.  The food we had for lunch was nothing short of AMAZING!

To start..we shared the Tater-Tots.. I am searching for the menu online, because we enjoyed them SO MUCH and we wish to somehow re-create!~   They are loaded with cheese, and some sort of gravy...a meal in itself!

My friend ordered the meat loaf, which he said was really good, great flavor and I ordered the salmon... To. Die. For!

Please check them out, what a wonderful lunch that held us all night long..  I plan to return in early May to TC, and I am going back for sure!  There's just too much more I want to try!

inventive  menu from a talented young chef makes this our fav spot for lunch or dinner. Fresh food, prepared on site with a twist on the standards....fried scallion rings on a carefully sautéed chicken breast with jalapeño marmalade on a pretzel roll was better than any lunch in San Francisco or Chicago in recent years.
Wait staff is friendly and attentive as well.

New Chef and new menu this month (December 2012).  Truly a hidden gem - truly fine dining in the dining room.  Do not let the sports bar motif in the bar deceive you.  Our dinner greatly exceeded our expectations.

Party of eight tonight.  Waiter was in a perpetual hurry, so we felt rushed.  Food was okay, but very naughty menu.  Would probably make good hangover food.  Just bring your Lipitor.  There is brie on the BLT for God's sake.  Bathrooms are shared with other tenants, but it doesn't appear that they get enough attention.  Ewwww.  Probably will not be back.  Too many other reliably good options.

This ain't no typical pub food--don't let the appearance fool you. This is some of the best food we have had in Leelanau, and is even good by Chicago standards.

I had the meatloaf made with local beef, wrapped with bacon and covered with a tarragon sauce--probably the most unusual and best meatloaf I have ever had. My wife had the espresso crusted filet--also delicious. Both came with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh pea pods--and generous portions.

For dessert, we shared the fried donut covered with local maple syrup, bacon bits, chocolate sauce and whipped cream--fantastic, and would make an ideal decadent breakfast dish.

This place has a young, talented and imaginative chef committed to using local, fresh ingredients and combining them in fresh, creative ways that knock your socks off.

Our server Jake was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Everyone there seems to be on board with the concept and on the same page.

The place is kinda noisy--it's a former pizza/Italian place on the Suttons Bay main street with tile floors. It looks and feels like a sports bar. The noise level and atmosphere were the elements that prevented us from giving this 5 stars, but it is definitely worth checking out.

The owner says they will be adding wood floors and more rustic furniture to give it more of an authentic pub feel. As it is now, it's a great place to take the family, watch a game, and enjoy great food.

How many places offer espresso crusted filet and $1 Strohs on the same special board? Try the food, tell your friends, and support this great local business.

We came on their second day open. We had the half rack of ribs, the mac & cheese and the walleye fish & chips.

Walleye fish & chips were great. Excellent crust on the fish - the batter's texture was perfect. It could have used a little salt, but that was an easy fix. There was a cod option for this dish as well, which was $3-4 cheaper, but we opted for the local catch. The fish itself was a little fishy tasting, but still delicious. Next time i'd try the cod. I didn't dislike the walleye at all though. This dish came with french fries and housemade tartar sauce. The fries were obviously made fresh - they came in all shapes and sizes... some like big steak fries, which I love, all well cooked. These could have used a little salt as well. Again, easy fix. The tartar sauce was mild and tasted great with the fish.

The St Louis Ribs were super meaty and perfectly cooked. I loved the flavor of the sauce. We got the half rack, but that was more than enough because they were so meaty. It was like ordering a full rack anywhere else. The stellar thing about this dish is that is comes with their hosuemade tater tots in a boursin cream sauce with pancetta bacon on top. HOLY FREAKING YUM. This was the standout of the whole meal. Tater tots for adults. They were like giant gnocchi, with this smooth pillowy texture, just enough cream on top and a hint of bacony goodness everywhere. If whatever entree you want doesn't come with tater tots ORDER THEM. Definitely worth the price of admission.

Last, but not least, we got the Mac & Cheese (also with pancetta bacon!). It is small shells and comes with aRitz cracker crumble on top. It seems to me like the mac & cheese is cooked first and the Ritz added after baking. I think it might benefit this dish if they baked everything with the ritz on top before serving, or did it for longer, if that's what they already do. This also could have used a little more salt. It was delicious, regardless, and went well with the ribs.

Every dish came served with a slice of jalapeno cornbread. It was much closer to the consistency of polenta than cornbread, fyi. I normally don't like anything with jalapenos in it, but I loved this. Not spicy or hot at all, smooth texture and just the flavor of jalapeno very lightly throughout. It also had scattered bits of corn in it. I liked it better than an actual cornbread.

Service was very friendly and quick. Our waitress was very nice and helpful (maybe a little bit too helpful! She came back to check on us what seemed like every 8 minutes, which, in a place of this size, is just unnecessary. I'm sure she was bored and eager to keep busy as it was an off time of day we came in. She made great recommendations and told us about all the special touches (homemade ketchup and mustard on the table!). Great experience all around.

Came back a second time a few days later and had the beef sandwich (i forget the name) and the fish tacos. The beef sandwich filling was good, but the bread was generic and didn't contribute anything good to the dish except to make a vain attempt at holding the whole thing together. A real solid sourdough and not it's Wonderbread cousin knockoff version would have helped. The fish tacos contained the exact same fish from the fish and chips, but rolled up in a dry tortilla with a pineapple "salsa" of sorts that was really more of a pineapple salad... could have been good, but it desperately needed some sort of sauce... dill sauce maybe? ANYTHING. even a wetter "salsa" would have helped. and to describe this style of fish as "lightly breaded" is just silly and misleading. All in all, we had a much better food experience the first time around.

They still have some kinks to work out with the food, but this is definitely already a place I would recommend checking out if you are in the area. We drove over from Leland and it was worth it that first time around. Even though it was only their second day and an off time for dinner, there were a good number of tables in (I counted 5 occupied out of what I think was a total of 10).

They could stand to work on the ambience somewhat. The walls are pretty bare in there so far. And they should totally knock out that wall between the seating area and the bar... so unwelcoming and confusing. We sat in the bar area at one of the raised tables with two giant stools at it. I noticed they had fairly normal looking wooden stools at the other two tables in the bar area and I just want to say... the giant ones we sat on were AWESOME. They should have those for all the tables. Very comfy, sturdy and just all around cool looking.

I really want to give this place 3 and a half stars, but it feels like they could be a 4 with a little improvement on all fronts.

Sadly, the new owner of this restaurant ignored the lessons from the past owner.  The opening night was nothing short of a disaster.  There was no-one to greet us, we waited too long for a table, we then waited 15 minutes for a drink order, 15 more for a food order and the food took over an HOUR.  We were there for over 2 hours in a place that looked like a sandwich shop (and should have been able to service like one).

    Here are some (hopefully) helpful ideas;

    1. GET RID of that huge partial WALL that greets customers upon entry.  It is big, blank, lifeless and obscures any vision into the restaurant. There is no human there, so the customer stares at a grey wall that offers no indication on where to go or what to do.  I have never, Ever seen such an odd set up.  We stood for a long while behind "the wall" waiting for someone to find us - we finally gave up and walked around the wall over to the bartender to let him know we wanted to be seated.

    2.  Train your wait staff.  Opening night is no excuse.  All we got were excuses, apologies and at one point, a beverage that literally tasted poisonous!!

    3. Hire more than 1 chef to cook more than 1 meal at a time.  It should not take ONE HOUR for fish and chips!!  Take things off the menu that you cannot cook.

    4.  Hire a bartender or head waiter who actually appears to WANT to be there.  GREET people or at least acknowledge them when they come in.  I watched as people entered, looked bewildered with the wall and the lack of clear direction on where to go, tried to catch the eye of a wait staff, then wandered into the tables to find somewhere to sit (on their own since no waiter would acknowledge them)  - sheepishly looking like they were afraid of getting caught.  I swear I saw the same thing happen when the place was Gusto's!  Why be afraid of the Customer?  Why make them so uncomfortable upon entering your establishment???

    5.  Be humble - listen to the feedback from your customers and make changes to show you are interested in serving THEM.
