Stottsville Inn

The soft shell crab here is wonderful.   The second best i have ever eaten.  first is bethany beach, de.    i have eaten the crabs twice in the past 3 weeks, both times prepared a little differently, but both times great.   Great outside patio, i travel from (south of New holland)  lancaster county, locals in my area think it is comparable to driving to NYC, but can be here in about 22 mintues, less than driving downtown lancaster.   the food is very good  - the patio should be jammed in good weather

I went here over the weekend with a group of people most of which are out-of-towners. We wanted to support a local run restaraunt near my sisters house in Parkesburg, instead of hitting a nearby chain and was looking for a unique dining experience. Apparently the restaraunt is haunted and we thought it would be a fun place to dine at an historic inn with a local legend. It was the first and last time for us!

First of all, I called to make a reservation and was hung up on. Weird I thought. So after making the res, showing up and seeing the place only had a total of 4 tables sat, we were left scratching our heads as to why we waited over an hour for our food. There was only one waitress on and she took forever to bring us even our drinks. That annoys me so much! My Mother asked for hot tea and she brought her a tea bag and cup, with no hot water. Um, hello? So by the time everyones glasses were empty the waitress came back and offered another round, and the hot water.

So finally I get up to use the restroom and the obviously stressed waitress came over to ask me if everything " was alright with our table". I nodded not to distress her any further, and she then proceeded to tell me she was the only one there, and there was only one cook on, and they were busy. Um, 4 tables were sat out of about 12.

We finally get our entrees. I was quite disappointed with the entire experience- then had to apologize to our out of towners for their late departure - 2 hours later.
