Once again, had a great time at The Whip. It was very busy, but that didn't affect the service. Our server was prompt, super friendly, and very knowledgeable.
Had the fish and chips- perfection! The side of coleslaw was very good, wish I had the recipe.
And a sticky toffee pudding for dessert- what more could I ask for? This dessert is a must-have.
Overall, very happy with the prompt service, excellent food, and great beer selection.
I really like this place. It's too far of a drive for me to go their for dinner , but I try to get their for lunch once or twice a year.
They have a nice patio area out back where you can enjoy some English ales and have some really good food.
The speical Heirloom tomato salad with Bellini cheese (which was grilled) was excellent. The duck confit pita was really tasty.
They feature a lot of organic dishs' from the surrounding farms and outside of the beer, you can bring wine or booze.
Little out of the way, but worth going to for a nice lunch in the summer.
I've been hearing about the Whip for a long time and I finally tried it tonight.
It was honestly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. My beer was nice and cold and I ordered the mash and bangers. The sausages were by far the best I have ever had. They were huge, plump, juicy, and had the perfect consistency. The mashed potatoes and zucchini were equally as excellent and I love that my dish came with lots of delicious gravy to sop everything up. For dessert I ordered the famous sticky toffee pudding. Im definitely more of a chocolate dessert kind of person but I am SO glad I tried the sticky toffee pudding ... it is honestly my new favorite dessert. It was a super moist deliciously spiced cake, sweetened with prunes (there were no gooey prune chunks in the cake, they just sweetened the cake with the prunes) and the most delicious toffee sauce all over and around the cake. It's famous for a reason ... give it a try - you won't be disappointed!
Overall, the Whip is excellent. I like the back patio where we sat. Its a beautiful farm scape scenery. The menu was different and everything sounded amazing. It was actually hard to make up my mind! The quality of food is superb, the chef is extremely talented, and the owner spent a lot of time around his guests making sure everyone was comfortable and satisfied. This was a truely authentic British dining experience that wasn't over the top "tacky british flags" in your face. It was subtle and understated but ver y authentic and different. I especially enjoyed the crowd of people that this restaraunt drew. It's a laid back atmosphere of more sophisticated dining. Try the Whip - you won't be disappointed!!
