Man talking about a dive bar this is one of the rare few that are still standing! Cause la puente closed all of theirs down and El monte turned into mexican whore bars. I LOVE Budweiser and they had one of the coldest pitchers of Bud I had in a long time. The people here are looking for trouble ,but just don't do eye contact! They have awesome pretty  bartenders..surprisingly  been here a few times and I have to saw its dingy but that's they way I like it! It's a cool hole in the wall
Review Source:i really like dive bars, but this place is one of the dirtiest places i have ever had a beer in!
it looked like a homeless reunion party when i walked in,so i had a quick beer and was gonna use the rest room, been holding it for a while in traffic, was the main reason why i got off the 60 FWY and came in this bar,but it was so dirty that i decided to hold till i could find a gas station!
the bartender was cute and she was nice and friendly!
also they allow smoking inside the bar,STINKY,SO AFTER BEING THERE ABOUT 5 MINUTES i smelled like i just smoked 2 packs of cigs!
In this town, you're going to have to make your choice between Asian or Dive. This is as divey as it gets around here, with no pretenses required. Pitchers, cold mugs, a jukebox, and a pool table.
Gets pretty smokey in here, and the local crowd can be kind of sketchy, and/or nice. A guy went from threatening to beat someone up to offering me some chips in like 2 seconds flat.
I love coming to this dive bar cuz the beer is cheap. $4 beers on tap and the bartenders are friendly. The highlight of being there was when my friend & i saw someone pouring their beer into an iced tea bottle. It's a good place to relax with friends w/some cheap brews.
They also have pool tables, flat screen tvs, & a jukebox!! Smoking is allowed inside as well and restrooms are surprisingly clean.
Uhm... I didn't know such places existed in my city. It took a lot of looking around to find this place because they don't have a proper sign. It's like they almost don't want you to find it! I've been in this mall few times to buy meat next door and never knew there was a dive bar there. Well, it's pretty dark, cold, smokey, and there's loud music in there. Beer was cheap but don't expect the typical Rowland crowd there, lol.
Review Source:This place is not that bad to have a ice cold beer. Â Why? Cuz the beer is only $3.00 a draft and $10 a pitcher. Wohoo!!! Â I swear their beer is the coldest in town. Everytime I go an have a beer, a bartender name Natalie thats always there is the one that hands me my beer. She is so nice and always greets me with a smile. Love it!
The bar is not much to look at, since old rednecks go to this bar only, but that doesn't bother me, since I'm only there to drink a ice cold bud light. I do wish they would change the channel sometimes. I really hate baseball. Dont care for it at all.
I'm a fan of Stubbys  and I've been going here since 2005.  I highly recommend this place if your in the mood for a cheap I cold beer. If not then there's always yard house not to far away, which I believe cost about. $6 a draft. Not to sure, but I wouldn't doubt it.
When I think of all those times I went to dive bars in Long Beach, Santa Fe Springs, LA, and Pomona, I could have just walked to this place from my house in 15 minutes. When I told my dad about my first visit, he was mortified. Apparently this was his "dog house" back when he and my mom would have a spat.
I think it's changed since he was last there. The crowd is different on certain nights of the week. I was just there this past Thursday, and there were a lot of young people, so I didn't feel out of place. I'm tired of paying $12 for a diluted drink every weekend, so every so often I relish hanging out and drinking a Stubby's pitcher. And I don't have to drive far AT ALL. When I was at the bar, an older guy says to me, "I don't care what they say about you, I think you're all right!" As I chuckle and thank him, I know there's no other place where I can carry back a $9.50 pitcher of Bud light and get hit on by an elderly gentleman.
it all started innocently enough. a group of us were sitting around on a saturday night recovering from our feast of a bbq. one of our friends was talking about someone else and described her as "the kind of girl that goes to stubby's." since none of us knew what it was like, she described it as the nastiest and dirtiest place ever. obviously we had to go. 5 minutes later we're down colima and in the darkness and smoke filled air of stubby's. it's a small, modest place but if that's all you need then you're set. the basics are covered - beer on tap (no hard liquor although rumors of soju wine), a juke box and a pool table. it's dirty, but not dirty enough for me to say no to an $11 pitcher of blue moon and some red cups.
Review Source:If you are looking for cheap thrills and kicks, this is the place to be.  Stubby's is a dive bar  in Rowland Heights that has been around for years.  If you grew up in the heights, you definitely have had to been here at least once.  If you haven't, you should make a trip down there now.  It looks like the new owners have been trying to fix it up a little.  There is now a digital jukebox to play music. It is definitely hidden and tucked away.  This is a spot to pre party, the beer is cheap.  How can you go wrong with pitcher of blue moon on tap for $11.  Warning: there is no hard liquor. The clientele is interesting.  Be ready to make some new friends, haha.
Review Source:Ohhh man. Â This bar has many MANY memories for me. Â From what I've gathered, this bar has been opened since the 70s, briefly closed, opened up to a new person, then closed again until Bruce and A.K. bought this place.
They have some decent events every now and then. Â On some random Friday nights, they have DJs playing some psytrance.
The only huge downer of this place is that the only hard liquor they have is soju (Korean liquor). Â The reasoning for this is Rowland Heights is predominately a dry city. Â They only have a few amounts of hard liquor license and in order for Stubby's to obtain one, they have to wait until one opens up or they buy it off of another business.
They do, however, have a great selection of bottled beer and 5 choices of draft beer. Â They include the ever-so-popular Bud Lite (which always seems to be out now), Budweiser for the lite beer haters, Coors Lite for those who has absolutely no love for beer, Shock Top (which was, in itself, a shock to see at a dive bar), and Amberbock (no confusion there).
All the domestic draft beers are $3.50 for a pint, $9.50 for a pitcher. Â The imports are $11.50 a pitcher. Â So the drink prices are fairly competitive.
They now also serve authentic home made Mexican food which is to die for. Â Forget the other places, you have to try their food. Â They're only there a couple of days out of the month so you have to catch them there.
They're usually out of glasses so they give you dinky plastic cups (when they're busy). Â They have a small pool table, which only the regulars know what faults there are on the table. Â They have a modern juke box and also a dart board.
The main thing about this place that a lot of people like is the ability to smoke inside.
So come to this bar if you want to meet some decent people and some real good looking bartenders.
* - minus one star for not serving hard liquor!
* + plus one star because it's like 4 blocks from my house - walking or biking distance if i wanna get wasted! or i could ask my mommy to pick me up!
* + plus one star because it's chill - i can wear PJ's in there!
* + plus one star because all the old people that go there entertain me - i've made friends with nate and ron! nate brings his own personalized mug to pour his beer in and ron has a little electrical cart thingy whatever and he brings his little boombox in and blasts his old school music! LOL.
* + plus one star because there aren't any asians in there!
but once you walk out of stubby's you're back in asia. =*(
it's like the only dive in rowland. i got no choice but to love it!
Can I say I LOVE Lisa and Sue. Lisa is so fun and Sue makes the BEST chicken wings. Truly a diamond in the rough. Sunday is Karaoke, it's almost like u have a live band playing while u sing, with a saxaphone player, bass and guitar, u feel like a rockstar. Anyone in the area needs to stop by and have the Shock Top, it's like hef with the orange already squeezed in!! As a new transplant to the area I am so glad I stopped in here!! Pool table too! If u like soju a bottle is $10. Well worth it! Have a great time and hopefully the popcorn isn't burnt.
