Sundance Resort

We had a great time! Beautiful location, world-class service, and a ton to do if you are outdoorsy. We only stayed for 2 nights, but we wish we would have stayed longer, because it was so relaxing. We loved taking the ski lift to take pictures and just enjoy the scenery. Plus, its close enough to Orem and Provo, that when we got a little antsy one night, it wasn't an ordeal to go some place else for dinner. We went on one of the hottest weekends of the year, which was a bummer because it was too hot to be enjoyable at times, especially since our room had no A/C. Yup, no A/C though. I am not going to complain about that though, especially since most of the time A/C probably isn't needed most of the time. I am giving this room 4 starts for one reason only. The room had a satellite remote and instructions on how to use the DVD player, but guess what? No satellite receiver and no DVD player. Granted, we didn't go to up there to lay about and watch TV, but it would have been nice to turn on the telly and watch the news or a movie at night, but whatever, we kept ourselves busy by sitting on the deck of our room and watching the ground squirrels play.

I am a HUGE fan of Robert Redford, the Sundance catalog and Sundance film festival ... but I am completely SHOCKED by all the good reviews of the Sundance Resort.  It was so bad that we ended our vacation early.  The food was terrible, and the resort itself was so hokey and commercial, it was a complete tourist trap.  The people that worked at the hotel were laughably unhelpful, although I must say that they were kind.  We wanted to love this place [we planned an entire trip around being there] but it was a huge disappointment. We ended up driving a little ways and booked a last minute room at the Montage in Deer Valley and had a much better experience all around.

What an amazing year-round resort. We took the chair lift up for a fabulous hike to Stewart Falls. The hike was an incredible 3-mile experience in which we saw wildlife, water falls and breath taking scenery. Hiking Sundance Resort is a must, especially to experience Stewart Falls. Afterwards, we enjoyed a 5-star dining experience at The Tree Room. (Amy at The Tree Room is the BEST). There is something for everyone here and it is one of the most relaxing & rejuvenating resorts in Utah!
