I have been going to The Sweet Shop since I was a child. Â My parents have a cabin in the area and the highlight of every trip upstate was ice cream from The Sweet Shop. Â
Their ice cream has always been good. Â I think they used to make their own, but they were serving Blue Bunny brand on my 8/16/08 visit. Â I'm not very familiar with that particular brand, but I can tell you that the Chocolate Brownie Extreme is very good, especially with some hot fudge on top. Â I'm glad to see that the portion sizes are as huge as I remembered from my childhood. Â My sundae cost under $5 and was huge. Â
The best part of The Sweet Shop is the atmosphere. Â Although it has expanded substantially from my childhood, it maintains an early 20th century, old-fashioned aesthetic. Â There are all kinds of old-timey gadgets to look at while you wait in line, along with penny candy and fresh baked goods.
If you find yourself in Sullivan County with a sweet tooth, The Sweet Shoppe is the place to satisfy it.
