We came here for dinner while spending a relaxing weekend by the pool in La Quinta.  We were especially pleased after arriving here as we went to another dive bar (Neil's) first and had such horrible service that we decided to leave and try somewhere else, and it's a good thing we did.  The food was good all around - the garlic fries were super good, loaded with fresh garlic and very crispy - the onion rings were to die for - not too greasy and well seasoned.  Menu was mostly sandwiches, burgers, casual bar food.  They have a huge outdoor patio area which was perfect for enjoying a drink in the warm, breezy night air.  Friendly service.

Came here to avoid the Easter crowd and it worked!

Now I understand why they went elsewhere.

Food was edible, no one got sick (can't really recall what we all had, but typical breakfast fare like bacon, eggs, steak...etc); Steak was medium well when it was ordered rare.

2 of us ordered the AYCD Mimosa and they were dry most of the time. My Bloody Mary was bland, even a spicy V8 would have tasted better.

The server was friendly enough, at first...but he tried to take my plate away when I was still eating.

If you need basic food, then you'll do well here.

I knew this place was near my home, but I never bothered to check it out.  I wanted to take my wife out for a couple of drinks and an appetizer the other night.

Checked the reviews here, and took a look at the website to get an idea of what it would be like.  Seemed good.  (Tack Room - your website is horribly overdone with Adobe Flash and it sucks)

Well, it was great.  We had some potato skins to start.  They were good and came with a generous portion of sour cream to dip them in.  We thought it needed some salt and a side of ranch, but they were very good.

The house whisky is my personal choice, so that was nice as well.

Shots were $6, and so were the potato skins.  Everything on the menu seemed reasonable.  If I remember right beers were $3 and premium beers were $4.  We plan to come back here often, as they said Karaoke was Thursdays, and we would like to try more of the food.

Our server was very friendly and informative as well.  All things considered this place was a nice change from the dive bars and other nearby places (Beer Hunter, Applebees), and also didn't have the same bar flies I get tired of seeing the last ten years, I am a fan.

We have been often during our visit out here.  Good food and a great atmosphere.  Be forewarned it is casual, but perfect for drinks and appetizers or a casual lunch or dinner.

Get the:  quesadillas, steak bites, burger decent.

Love coming here...specials are indeed special ...chix quesadilla and chili are too good to pass up as wel.  If your looking for a terriff place to wander around, go tour the polo grounds, rose gardens and way way in the back is a garden to die for. Music on certain nights (we go for lunches so don't know but probably weekends) and a Sunday brunch during the winter months.

This place was a pearl in an oyster! It's off the beaten path but the atmosphere is quirky and the food is good. Try the coconut shrimp.

Eight of us dropped by after a fun day at the Polo grounds. We ordered draft beer, it was only $2.00. Really?  What a deal!  The place was pretty busy as it was Super Bowl Sunday. We ordered several rounds, took tons of photos and had heaps of fun. Very good service, a friendly girl greeted us at the door, the bartender was a cool dude, overall a great experience.

    We're definitely coming back.

My husband and I stopped by the Tack Room one evening after an art show we were participating in this last weekend.  I loved the interior with the open beam log ceiling in a hogan design.  They had bar seating, high top tables, low tables and booths....choose your preference.  It was very rustic and comfortable, then in the center of the room was a large chandelier, I loved the irony of it.

The staff was very friendly.  We ordered drinks and some potato skins.  The skins were delicious and the drinks were effective.  The waiter described the dinner special to us and we wanted to come back to try it out.  Unfortunately the person we were staying with had other plans.

If I lived locally it might become a local haunt.  I'll definitely try to go back next time I'm in town.

This place is great! Fun atmosphere, just a stones throw from the polo field!  Good food, great Bloody Mary bar and bottomless mimosas!  Our server Ariel was awesome! We'll definitely be back!

Traveling through town on Sunday, we were looking for a restaurant with plenty of parking for our RV and dog-friendly so we could bring our dog along; we found this great place on Yelp.  Plenty of parking and our pup was welcome to sit with us on the patio.  Loved this place.  The ambience was great - wished we could have sat inside as it was really happening!  Will have to go back.  We had the most delicious chilliquilles - yummm!  The price was pretty reasonable - two breakfasts and two beers for about $30.  The wait staff was very friendly, but the service was a little slow.  Otherwise, I'd have given them 5 stars.

Gnarly. Don't come here for the food unless you think Applebee's is the best Neighborhood bar and grill.  The food came out hot, so that's why they didn't get 1 star.

Go for the burgers, dont waste money or calories at Red Robin or some other typical chain place. Burger is ten dollars, but worth the exellent and fast servers. Soda refills are filled without asking. Its a bar, so expect some loud music at night and questionable outfits on other customers.

Received rude service here for no reason (I was tipping and not rude). Don't take it out on your patrons because other customers are rude. Prices are average. I ordered a hamburger the week before and it was nothing special. Bread was over-toasted and hard and the garlic fries were also overcooked.

I've had three incidences here: drunk customer hounding my friends (guess no means 'keep trying'), bad food, and now rude service. Three strikes is enough for me.

It only took us three turnarounds to figure out where the entrance was--under the large sign.

Loved the atmosphere. The HH appetizers were low cost and large. The regular menu looks good, so we will be back, especially when season starts.

    Drinks were good.

    Loved the saddle seats, too.

Who eats in Indio? We do.

Surprisingly yummy. After parking in the empty parking lot of a pollo field I had my doubts. The ambiance of the restaurant was very inviting and western. The staff was slow but nice.

Started with some nachos which was easy to share with a table of 4, large and tons of toppings. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was extremely tender and had great bbq sauce. Also, had lettuce, tomato and onion which was sorta different for me but easy enough to pull off. My eating companions shared a Koby burger and only raved about the flavor.

Overall, would recommend this restaurant and would go again if I have the unfortunate luck to find myself in Indio again.

    Great place to brunch.

I've been here at night while waiting for bands to start at the nearby Date Shed and I've been here the morning after for delicious omelets and bottomless mimosas. The Tack Room Tavern is great for drinks with friends, but it's a bit crowded and dive-y on some nights.

Where it excels is the brunch -- the waiters make sure you never have an empty glass of mimosas and the atmosphere is light and casual with delicious food. It's completely different from the dive-y scene from the previous night. Probably one of the best places to brunch in the East Valley.

I go here every Tuesday night for Taco Tuesday.  My employee and I eat here, talk about business, get paperwork done, and we love the food - THE PORK IS TO DIE FOR - LITERALLY - YOU WILL NOT WANT TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT ONCE YOU HAVE THE PORK TACO'S!!  But seriously, nice people, the waitresses are a little slow but sweet, and they made my friends feel right at home.  They have a fish-n-chips night on Wednesdays (I think?), but call first - I am guessing the day.  All in all, this is a great casual place to go, the food quality is EXCELLENT for the price, and atmosphere is not loud at all, and they seem like genuine people that care about their little restaurant.  I highly recommend it, and soon, we'll be sitting out on the patio, as the weather will finally let us enjoy the cool night air!  GO TO TACO TUESDAY'S - you'll thank me for it!!  Simple and delicious!!

WE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!  We come here at least once a week, and our friends and family always beg us to take them here when they come to visit.  Great food, great prices, great happy hour, great music!!  I just can't say enough about this place!  It has a quirky  ambivance (barstools made from saddles and a giant blue crystal chandelier in the middle of the resteraunt) but yet it is so warm and welcoming and the same time.  We reccomend the pulled pork quesadilla, the chopped salad, cheeseburger and the wings.  I guess you could call this our local hang out.  We always run into co-workers and friends here.  The outdoor patio is great for big groups or parties.  They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights!  It's a little hard to find....but you won't regret coming to the TACK ROOM!!!

I was as surprised as others to stumble upon this place.  Located on the Empire Polo Grounds (off Monroe), this place is a hybrid dive bar/restaurant.  Stopped by on a Saturday evening and found a mix of early bird diners and locals at the bar.  I think there may have been a few Coachella Music Festival roadies in there as well, as the festival was a week away and stages/tents were being erected.  Bar has a good selection of bottled beers (including Stone) and the Happy Hour menu had some pretty good deals on things like potato skins and nachos.  The decor plays on the "tack room" theme and includes several bar stools that are actual saddles - which is pretty unique.  There seems to be a nice outdoor seating area which I imagine fills up during special events.

First time ever to the Polo Grounds....who knew there is a grass yard the size of 6 football fields in the middle of Indio?  If I were a horse and had some overpriledged yuppie on my back, that is where I would want to kick it with some of my other horse friends.

We were there for the lacrosse tournament, and after my son's team took a shellacking (no mercy rule for this indian game, just as we showed them no mercy taking their land) went to the Tavern (thank God for yelp).  Of course the tournament was scheduled on the big pro football weekend, so the indians got some slight revenge on me.

Great bloody Mary, only a couple of beers on draft, excellent chili dog for breakfast, very nice ambiance.  It is just a few steps from the field and seems to be a local haunt.  Kids welcome and overall just a mellow vibe.  If you find yourself in Indio, perhaps against your will, this place will do in a pinch.

Different for sure, good bar but the food was so so for me. I will go back for happy hour which I hear is very good.My wife loved her burger and the chili was good. I had the checken sandwich (recommended) and didn't finish it.

Nachos... pretty tasty and packed with jalepenos!  A little too many red and green onions with the jalepenos, but the chips were fantastic.

Chopped Salad- iceberg lettuce, ham, bacon, blue cheese dressing.  Get the dressing on the side!

Service- Not too great.  Very slow.  One waiter told us we could bring our drinks to the polo match and gave us cups, while our waitress said no.

    Nachos, Salad, 4 drinks= $41

A few of the "bar stools" are actually horse saddles... pretty cool.

I love this place.  Every time I head out to Indio to visit friends, I make sure we venture over here.  They have a great happy hour, I can't recall exact prices off the top of my head, but cheap is definitely a good way to describe it.

Food is great.  Great burger, mini corn dogs, pulled pork sandwich.  Love their fries, I'm a huge stickler for fries and theirs are delicious.  I have to say my meal of choice so far was the pulled pork nachos.  I had intended to share them due to it's massive size, but decided about halfway through that they were just too good and polished them off myself.  Definitely over ate and was ridiculously full by the time I got through them, but so worth it.

My favorite part about Tack Room, is the bar stools.  They're made out of saddles.  Pretty much the coolest thing ever, and I'm determined to have one...it's pretty much become my goal in life to have saddle bar stool from Tack Room.

I enjoy this place very much. It is off the beaten track but a good get away.  The food and drinks are good and the happy hour is great ($2.99 margaritas). The staff is polite, honest and sincere (a rarity). Sitting outside is wonderful and you can even catch a polo match. There is karaoke and live bands on some nights.

    Exc - Patio, happy hour
    Good - Service
    Ave - Food
    Poor - None

I have been here a few times, usually for the nightlife, which I didn't really care for.  But I just tried it for their Sunday champagne brunch which goes till 1:30, and WOW!  I went with friends and sat on the outdoor covered patio.  It was a beautiful day.. i wish we could of seen the polo games going on next door.  Anyway,  the food was amazing... i had the eggs benedict w/ these great seasoned potatoes w/ some onions and peppers. I wish they served breakfast everday!!  And how can you say no to $5 all you can drink mimosas?!  The lunch and dinner menu looks good too so I will check it out and get back to you!

Tack Room... Tack Room.... Tack Room....

    Don't attack the Tack Room.... : )
A good place, a bit pricey but nice and tucked away.

My band played here a few years ago, and the crowd always changes.

    Clean restrooms and decent service.

A good place for "Cougar" hunting, I have a few friends that hunt "Cougars' for sport and they love this place because they are usually successful! I just sit back and laugh.

One night we drinking on a weekend and we ended up going back with 5 40+ women back to one of their swanky houses at a near by country club in Indian Wells. A crazy hot tub night with some older women that are wild at heart. Lots of Merlot and Patron... I think one of the ladies ex husbands was a Pro Golfer so she took him for a financial ride during the divorce.

I still come to the place every now and then and watch the Cougars attack the youngins!

Everybody else seems to go for the bar scene, however my family likes to mix things up. We went for the Sunday Champagne Breakfast with the entire family and one sleeping toddler. $5 bottomless Mimosas and a Bloody Mary Bar? Pretty sweet.
For a huge party, we were served quickly and efficiently by a great and friendly server.
The Huevos Rancheros were mouth watering. Blue corn tortillas and homemade salsa made this a great breakfast starter. My husband had the Kobe Beef Burger and says it has no rival, best thing he has had for "brunch" in a long time.
I was sad my niece was sound asleep, because I really wanted to pose her on the saddles and next to the little statues of the jockeys.
I probably won't be going back to Indio, but anybody else who goes to Palm Springs should definitely hit this unknown gem for brunch.

Out at La Quinta for a weekend getaway and looking for a place to have a beer and watch the game. Went to the Fantasy Springs casino and didn't stay too long too many old, compulsive gamblers and no music. Decided to try out the Tack Room. Local crowd, everyone kept to themselves, but it was a good for grabbing a beer, and to watch the game. There was a good mix of people, that you could see congregating together. In one section you had your Raider fans, the other the charger fans, another corner your trendy LA types ho looked uncomfortable and left pretty quickly. I'd go again until I found someplace better.

I came here recently with my friends while visiting the Coachella Valley. This bar is located on the same grounds where Coachella Music Fest. is held. The Empire Polo grounds. Apparently this is where all the jockeys and those that work at the polo grounds come for cocktails along with locals. My friends brought me here because they thought that I would like it. I totally did. The decor is total cowboy-ish with saddles and hats and horse shoes... Total western feel. The crowd was whatever. The drinks were strong. Not sure how much they were because my friends were treating me! My only complaint was that the bathrooms were a bloody mess with no toilet paper. When we mentioned it to the manager she had a little attitude. Lost a star for her gnarly glare. We laughed. Sort of got a kick out it!

Any-hoot this place will not be open for the general public during Coachella. It's VIP only....

Located on the Indio Polo Fields...where my favorite festival in the world takes place "Coachella."

Great Happy Hour everyday.  Had 4 appetizers and 4 drinks amongst 4..the price was only $35.

Great food, drinks and nice prices.

I am a fan of this little bar. We met up with some friends here one night while we were on vacation in Palm Springs. I stepped out of the car and took one deep breath, inhaling the lovely smell of horses. Now, my husband doesn't care for the smell but for me it just rushes in all these wonderful memories of horseback riding... I think only a rider could understand or would agree with me! Immediately I was excited! Then we heard the band! Turns out that they have live music every Friday night. So even before walking into the bar they already have received a couple of stars for making me a happy person! We walk into the bar and it's perfect. Designed like a barn with wood floors, walls, post and beams, saddles and all other horse accoutrements. Then in the middle of the bar is a beautiful chandelier which made the place slightly classy. Perfect classy and divey all at the same time! The bartenders were friendly, they flirted with our men but I'm pretty sure they didn't mind.
The reason why this bar got 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the security man, "Paul Blart", who decided when the bar was going to close and was sort of rude about it. It was before California's "last call" of 2AM but he decided to call it a night because he was tired. I get it, I used to work in a bar, but he was very rude. We had just been served our last beers and he insisted that we chug them or leave them as we needed to go. We had a great night but we will always remember "Paul Blart" and his attitude.
However, if I lived in the area I would definitely be back for cheap beer in horse land!
