Friendly bartenders and people. A little hard to find if you aren't familiar with the area but overall good. Bloody Mary is delicious, as are fish tacos. Crab cakes are not seasoned well...skip that in favor of something else. Very laid back and a good place to sit a while!

Eh! Got the shrimp and grits. It was "ok" . Live music was only 1 star. Guy kept playing John Mayer cover songs. Guess that's all he knew. Atmosphere was 4 stars. It was cool to sit outside and look at the harbor.

We loved the royal reds and the relaxed atmosphere. the deck had a nice view of the harbor and they had a little sandy beach area for the kiddies. Would recommend.

Fantastic shrimp & grits, large outdoor seating on the water, tacky (in a fun way) gift shop.

The Tacky, is in fact tacky, but the breakfasts are good! This Tacky Jack's, has plenty surprises in store for you, a delicious breakfast, great bloody mary's and great mimosa's.

The Shrimp and Grit's......... Sorry three stars, kind of flavorless!
    The Burrito.............................Very good
    The Omelet's .........................Very Good
    The Pancakes.......................Huge!

The morning cocktails, yes very good, but expensive, very expensive.

However, I like this Tacky Jack's, service has always been good, and the food good to. The ambiance, well your on the water, so you decide!

Great atmosphere, terrible food. This is one of my favorite places to have some drinks with friends, but I would never come here to eat. The view is unbeatable in the area, which is why I like to come here for drinks. The service can be slow as it gets very busy, but the servers are always very nice.

Went here at the recommendation of a local. Nice fun atmosphere with outside seating. The food was OK on the whole but not really memorable EXCEPT the Mexican garbage nachos. Those were awesome! They were huge and had just about everything you could put on a chip. Mmmm mmmmm

You know the saying don't judge a book by it's cover. Yup that is how I feel about this place. I hate tacky places and figured I hate this place. I mean seriously, I had a "I can't believe I am going to eat here" face on while we waited for a table.

And then the food came! My mom and I start with a dozen raw oysters. WOWZA! I know it isn't oyster season, but these are the best oysters I have ever had in Orange Beach. They were plump, briny, and divine. So divine that I ordered another dozen.

I order the Royal Reds, the lobster of the Gulf. Wow, they were so pink, so plump, so big, so delicious. These are better than the ones at the four $ restaurants and 1/2 the price.

My mom got the steamed crab claws. She loved them. I am allergic to crab (weep for me) so I didn't try them but they looked yummy!

The fried green tomatoes were too heavy so I really didn't enjoy them. The side salad was crisp and fresh though.

I am so sorry I judged you Tacky Jacks!

I left Tacky Jack's feeling like a stupid tourist that got ripped off. Which, I guess was pretty accurate since that's basically what happened.

The food was subpar. I had a burger, which is pretty hard to mess up. But was bland, the bun was old and the fries were undercooked.

The service was lousy. We ordered frozen drinks that came out after the food arrived. Then, no one ever came by again to see if we needed refills. (And, yes, we wanted refills!)

There are so many better places to go in the area-- don't fall into the tourist trap!

Breakfast. Bloody Mary's, mimosas, shrimp&grits, hashed beef, biscuits and sausage gravy....yep, perfect start to a day at the beach!  Not gourmet, but the atmosphere makes it a win!

Pleasant surprise.  Nachos were world's largest, tuna and crab were very good.  Burger received high reviews.  Great view, service, and food.

This is a great place to come via boat for a snack, a drink, the view, and live music. However, this is not the place to go for dinner. Limited menu of the basic "beach" foods, and the entrees we got were sub-par. Some people were unable to eat more than a few bites, and went home hungry.

Tacky Jack's had been on our "must hit" list when visiting Perdido Key for the past 5 years.  I have to admit that the only thing I've ever ordered is the shrimp Po'Boy (because it was just so darn good) and fried pickles, my weakness.

Although the food is decent, the prices have become outrageously high.  I wouldn't recommend this restaurant when there are so many other good choices in the area with much better pricing.

I've been coming to Tacky Jack's since 1995. It hasn't changed much. They have an indoor and outdoor eating area on the water. Just pull your boat in for good food, drinks, plenty of flat screens to watch your favorite team. They are one of the two restaurants on the island offering the best breakfast. In season live music.
Enjoy!! Ask for Ashley. Great server! Tip her!

Haven't been since late '08, when I came twice in the same weekend. There's not too many "fun" places in somewhat family-oriented OB. It's even harder to find cool places by the water and having boat parking is harder still.

Sort of like a Hooters or Dick's Last Resort. Don't kid yourself if you're coming here for fine dining. It's all about the view and atmosphere. Don't forget breakfast, also better when served on the waterfront!

Terrible and overpriced!  Ask what the "market price" is, don't assume!  18.99$ for small order of crab claws!  Ouch!  Fish on my po-boy was tiny!  Typical beach joint, but Ritz-Carlton prices!  Never coming back!

Crapy Jacks. The food is so overpriced for the quality. Nothing taste fresh. I'm guessing if you asked the staff would say its all frozen. Much better places to eat all around this place. I've tried to give them chance after chance. But I'm always disappointed.
    I'm done. Headed to Doc's.

This is my must visit place when at the beach.
The food is good, it  can be somewhat expensive but the atmosphere, the breeze and the view balance things out for me.

Most of the time, there's a wait for a table on the deck (personally, I have never had to wait longer than 15 mins); I'd recommend going early or late, skip the b'fast/ lunch/ dinner rush hour.

They are building another restaurant on the Intercoastal (right across from Lulu's -- haha), but I think the original restaurant in OB will always be my fav.

Extra points:  1) They serve alcohol on Sundays before noon! 2) My smoking friend was able to smoke at our table on the deck!

Having being more familiar with Tacky Jacks 2 (great karaoke and drinking spot), my mom and I decided that we wanted to try out the original restaurant.  So yesterday we took a trip to Orange Beach to have some lunch.

Tacky Jacks is one of the better restaurants on the water in LA.  I had a great shrimp po-boy while my mom had a bacon cheeseburger.  The beer and drinks were good, too.  One of the best things about this place is the location and view.  We sat at a table right on the water.  Although it was a hot summer day, their was an amazing breeze that was constantly blowing.  Being that I am in town several times a year, I will definitely be back to eat and drink at Tacky Jacks!

Gotta love the view! The food is fresh and delicious, even if my royal reds were a little bit overcooked.

Really the name says it all! But I am in love with this place. It started out as this shack on the Bay and has expanded to a 3 story hangout without losing it's tattered charm.

So we drove up via boat, tied it to the pier and headed up for Sunday brunch. (Any place that lets me cruise up on a boat gets an automatic one-star upgrade.) They have a bar outside that overlooks the bay with a huge, 20 table, patio.

A storm rolled in just as we got our patio table. No worries! We grabbed our $2.00 Mimosas and ran for cover. These people in L.A. (that's Lower Alabama) know how to do it right. No sissy champagne glasses here. Plastic tumblers baby!

Once the storm passed we grabbed our cocktails and headed back out to our table to order. My step-MIL told me how great the farmers omelet was and that I HAD to get it or I was crazy. Man she didn't lie. You get the choice of a small, medium or large. The small was MORE than enough as the omelet is placed on a bed of delish home fries... Plus, I had to save room for my Mimosas ;)

Bottom Line: Great place for people of all ages. They have good drinks, good food that doesn't break the bank and a cigar bar downstairs if that is your thing. While it is getting a bit more touristy as the area builds up it's worth a trip.

Tacky Jacks is one of my fav places at the beach. Live music, good drinks, super laid back atmosphere...
The food is good typical bar type food. Nachos, burgers, salads (try the grilled shrimp/crawfish)
Warm weather allows the outdoor patio to be the best spot.

    I love this place.

My dining partner order a cheesburger and when it came out, that sucker was huge.  We talkin homemade burger patties and not those out-of-the-machine types.  Man, it was damn good.

I dont know what it is about the gulf shore bars, but they kinda stingy with the alcohol.  I ordered and Absolut Stress and it did nothing for me.  I was sad.

Also, it helps that the Czech guys in the back who are cooking the food are fast and work efficiently to get the customers food out.  Albeit, if there is no miscommunication between the waittress and the cooks.

The Czech guys cooking our food were fast because it was a full house on the patio(nice weather helps)but they had everyone's food out in a jiffy.  Damn but I was impressed because I sat where I could watch them cook and talk while working.  I have to say these guys run an efficient kitchen.

There's a patio in the front, and it's located along a pier of sorts, live bands play, so check out the calendar, also, it's family friendly.  Dont feed the birds though.

Credit card and cash are accepted, come in your bikini and shorts, doesnt matter because it's on the gulf shores by the beach so this type of casual wear is expected.

The prices are reasonable but a limited men,  the drinks are not(I say this because my drink did not give me any buzz whatsoever).  The chicken salad could have had more chicken, 9.99, it was damn tasty though, but next time if I come back Im ordering the cheeseburger.  8.79 huge with fries, take that port-of-call.

Probably better off eating at Shrimp Basket.

I like my food coming out fast and hot and that's exactly what I received.

    Thanks Czechs!
