The burgers and dogs are amazing. We tried the (1/2 pound) applewood bacon burger, the Gorgonzola burger, the 1/3 pound cheeseburger, and the "Heart Attack Dog" (a Nathan's dog split, stuffed with cheddar, wrapped in BACON, and FRIED). All were cooked to perfection, and served with a generous side of hand cut fries. The fried green beans and onion strings are also not to be missed! They were preparing milkshakes by hand when we left--they looked thick and creamy, but we were too full!
We will definitely be back!
This place is everything it has been touted to be. It is an older building that has been lovingly restored, and the decor is great!
Hope is a cute little town and Tailgaters is a gem! Â Right across from an old (yet functioning) train depot, Tailgaters has great food, fun ambiance, and super friendly staff! Â It is definitely worth the (very short) detour off I-30. Â And my family agrees with the previous reviewer...try the fried green beans!
Review Source:we have a family rule about traveling...no chain restaurants. Â I always ask a local if they could go anywhere in town for their favorite meal, where would they go. Â We asked the worker at the Clinton House where he would go and he immediately said Tailgaters. Â Hope is a tiny town and Tailgaters is a well-hidden gem. Â The food is fresh (hand-cut fries) and the rest of the menu reflects the same attention to good southern cooking. Â The atmosphere is family friendly and the owner is friendly and proud of her establishment, as she should be. Â Great stop off of I-30. Â Make a point to go there. Â You won't be sorry.
Review Source:We stopped here on our way to Texas because of the positive reviews. We were not disappointed. The owner took our order and brought us food and was so nice and helpful. The menu had a nice selection but wasn't overwhelming. Everything we ordered was great- fresh and just what we were expecting. The fries are sliced potatoes- not the processed garbage you find at most burger places. The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. There was even a changing table in the ladies' restroom- a little detail that made dining with kids easier. Overall we were very pleased with our experience!
Review Source:This is a less than 5 minute detour off I30 on our trip from Austin to NW Arkansas. Â We all loved it! Â We all got burgers (my husband had the cheeseburger and I had the avocado burger, daughter had a kid's meal and our 4 year olds shared a burger). Â The service was quick and very friendly (one of the owners checked me out). Â $30 for our family of five. Â It's also right next to the train station, which was fun for our kids, and a Bill Clinton museum.
Review Source:A breath of fresh air for Hope. Love the tailgate booths and retro decor. Â Staff is friendly and courteous. They serve a wide variety of burgers and hot dogs. Â Their childrens menu starts around $4 with a drink included. With adult entrees drinks are seperate. My favorite is the avocado burger with onion straws and a chocolate shake.
