If I could give this 0 stars - I would.
We went on a Friday night in early June, before the real crowds got there and service was HORRIBLE. The bottom level was a bit crowded - the "Rochester" pretty...ok whatever...so we walked to the rooftop - cool for Rochester I suppose.
the waiter was totally inconvenienced to serve us, he had no idea about ANY of the beers, threw our food on the table at us...did we have CA native written on our backs? Anyway...the beer sucked- I've had so much better, the food was just sad. I've been to many uptown bars and taphouses in LA and Laguna etc...this experience totally sucked. Don't go!
My wife and I spent 1.5 hours here Saturday night. Â It was a great place for relaxed conversation, while drinking some tasty beer. Â We sat on the upstairs patio. Â This area was completely full and everyone seemed pleased with the service. Â Hannah, our server, deserves kudos for her hard work. Â She served about 50 people (12-15 tables) continuously, while we were there. Â Based on the atmosphere, beer, and Hannah's friendly service, we will return here.
Review Source:Drinks were underwhelming at best and the bartender short poured all mixed drinks. It was a holiday weekend and no one was in town and service was still slow. Even sitting at the bar we had to flag down bartenders. One female bartender even looked at us and continued to ignore us. Not worth the $14 for two drinks.
Review Source:Met my sister and her family here over the weekend for drinks and dinner, what a fun place. We tried a couple different brews, they were great. The atmosphere is very casual with historic items on the walls and cozy. We just ordered nachos and appetizers and they were very good. Its right downtown which is handy, parking is on the street or use a ramp.
Review Source:Talk about knowing beer....this place has 50 different beers from all over the place on tap and the guy working behind the bar knows what he is talking about. Â Tried this porter, he can guide you to another one to compare. Â They are mighty free with sample size glasses too.
They take care to serve the beers up to maximize each beer's attributes. Â Glasswear is used likewise.
There is a rooftop area available which if the weather ever turns around might be really fun to try. Â They have a limited menu which I did not try.
Most pints were in the $5-6 range, so very reasonable. Â Great decor, good service.
The Tap house has great beer and you certainly wouldn't expect it either.
I killed many a hours here when my brother was in the hospital. Great place with a very friendly staff.
There isn't a kitchen here but they do have a few small items on the menu. Eat before you get here because you won't want to leave.
Downtown Rochester needed a place just like this.
Beer. Lots of delicious beer. In a nice comfortable setting. 50 beers on tap. Everything from IPAs to something flavored with a Lychee nut.
Although I would have liked to see more local brews (Fulton was represented here, but Surly was in cans) the selection is great.
A night out in downtown Rochester deserves a stop like this one.
This is a great place! Trust me, I get to visit a lot of different beer pubs around the country and this is one of the better ones.
Being a West Coast guy, I'm very familiar with many of the West Coast breweries. Coming to a place like the Tap House lets me connect with a variety of regional brews that I would never get to try in LA..
The one glaring thing missing here is a kitchen. A beer pub without a food offering is just not right, Otherwise, The Tap House would be easily 5 stars.
The Tap House has the best beer selection in downtown Rochester, if not Rochester altogether. Â 40-50 beers on tap. Â As a beer enthusiast, I was only slightly disappointed that many of them were also available and even quite prevalent in liquor stores. Â As a result of their location, quality of beers, and the market itself, the drinks are relatively expensive. Â This place is fairly small and is definitely not the kind of place you get wasted at on a weekend night. Â Instead, it is more of a location to grab a beer with a friend after work. Â If you're trying to get wasted, go elsewhere. Â If you're trying to enjoy a beer, go here.
Review Source:I've been here twice. It's a small, cozy place with 50+ beers on tap. Unlike other Rochester bars that pride themselves on their tap selection, you won't find 10 different variations of a domestic lager on their tap lines. "No crap on tap" describes this place well. Â It's all craft-beer, all the time at the Tap House.
Beers are either $5 or $6 per pint. Â Service is friendly. Will definitely be going back.
