The beer selection here is fantastic. It's a very roomy place, and overall pretty comfortable. Styled as a sports bar, but it doesn't deliver as one.
I dropped by on a Monday to watch MNF with some friends. I was told they had $2 domestics and half price appetizers. The Beer that I ordered was out, and the bartender recommended the Somersby Cider, telling me it counts as a $2 domestic. when my friends arrive, we order a mug of bacon, and some chicken nachos. Sadly, the nachos came with a "cheeze sauce" instead of real cheese, but the mug of bacon was... well... bacon. it was crispy and good. I've had a Panini here before, and I enjoyed it, but the food isn't to die for. The Waitstaff is friendly, though not always as knowledgeable as you'd hope from a place that specializes in beer.
We were told around halftime that they'd be closing at 10pm... pretty early during Monday Night Football for a self styled sports pub. We were all customers would be out before the fourth quarter started. The kicker for my low rating came when we rang up the bill. The bartender comes over to inform me that the manager has told her now they've changed policy and Somersby doesn't count as a domestic, so It'll be $5/glass. (I've had 3 at this point) You'll remember I only went with Somersby on her recommendation when she told me it was $2. "I told him that you thought they would be on special, and he said I should come apologize to you"
Well, one of the great things about Yelping is that I can just smile, pay the inflated bill, and let everyone know how lame the management is, rather than raise up a big fuss.
The food ranged from sub-par (the nachos) to decent (panini), but I came back this time because the staff was friendly and it wasn't too packed. well, a friendly staff doesn't matter when management pulls shady shenanigans like that on you, and its not very surprising it wasn't too packed when you can't even finish watching Monday Night Football.
If you're looking for a great selection of beers they definitely have it. As a beer snob I'd have to say the staff has a little bit to learn about the beers they are selling, but they are fairly competent. The decor...is a bit a weird. There are some interesting airborne themed murals in the building, but it looks like they threw a random hockey skate here and a random free beer sign there to make it more of a "sports bar". The food menu is OK, but nothing to write home about. There are some strange things on there like the "Mug of Bacon" which is literally just a cup of regular old bacon. The manager said they are tweaking the food menu as they get feedback from customers so I am assuming it will evolve into something better.
Overall, a cool place to get a great selection of beers. Hopefully, it will continue to improve.
