Taste Wine Bar

Wow, what a hidden gem! It is a wine bar near Downtown with trendy upscale decor, but is still had back at the same time. It has a large bar that serves wine, beer, and cocktails. There is hardwood floors a U shaped bar you can sit at. It also has lounge furniture that can be  accommodating for groups or just a few people. If you are in Mobile for Business and looking to get a glass of wine in a bar I would recommend this spot. I would even recommend it as a casual hangout as well. The only reason I do not give this place 5 stars is because when we ordered a bottle of wine the bartender said they don't have a wine list...I paused for him to start laughing, but he was serious. Apparently they are getting away from being a wine bar, so we just had to order our wine based on verbal recommendations. Still a great spot.

Taste is easily the best bar in town for cocktails.  The bartenders are very well trained, knowledgeable about origins and development of drinks, and obviously enjoy talking to customers about the drinks.

Drinks:  Best in the city.  Made-to-order and delicious menu items that change with the seasons can be found here.  Definitely the best drinks in the city, and one of the very best bars I've ever been to.  Only drawback here is a rather limited beer menu.  An excellent choice of just a few on-tap microbrews would launch this place into the stratosphere, but the cocktails are so good you probably wouldn't want to waste your time on beer anyway.  

Atmosphere:  In the old Double Olive building, it has a nice midtown feel.  The inside could be a little funkier with more interesting music, but the drinks are so good it all shouldn't matter.  Good crowd, not too stuffy, not too loud.

Service:  Excellent.  Bartenders more than willing to help you through the menu and explain recipes.  

Don't miss this place.  Try out the Maple Leaf bourbon and cinnamon cocktail next time you go.

I love this place! The atmosphere is chic, classy, but laid back! Its Mobile's place to neat cocktails, beer, and of course wine! The bartenders are superb, and can make pretty much anything. The lounge feel with couches with the bar make it to be very versatile for a night out, charity functions, and parties! Every Sunday there is free brunch with mimosas and bloody Mary specials. This is my must-have of Mobile! Only place in Mobile that I could find my favorite French 75!! Only down fall are the acoustics which are not that great.
