It's a fun place to go to. Its very Texas and has been that way the past 10-15 years I've been going here. The food is really good, and everything is fair priced. There used to be a smoke problem which I found annoying but luckily they have a non smoking area now which remedied that problem. I come here more for the environment than the food itself. It's a wonderful place to feel like you're in Texas.

I took my daughter in here for lunch the other day, and I have mixed feelings about it.

The location is great for those that live in the area, and the decor is old school country. Old bottles, cans, Budweiser signs and such. Really relaxed and laid back. However, when you walk in the door, you are in the smoking section. You have to swim through the cloud of smoke to get to the non-smoking area.

We both ordered the lunch special... cheeseburger with fries and a drink. Of course, I had to add bacon, grilled onions and jalapenos to my burger and upgraded to their handmade onion rings. We also got some fried cheese sticks for an appetizer. They only offered Pepsi products according to our waitress, and I express my dismay that there was no diet Coke or diet Dr Pepper. After she walked off, my daughter pointed out on the bottom of the menu that you could get diet Coke for set-ups. So, when our waitress returned, I asked her about it. She said that they did indeed have diet Coke in cans, but she didn't think I would want one in a can. Really? I was just whining about the fact that there was no diet Coke. Go figure....

After nearly 15 minutes, we got the cheese fries. They were tasty, but I didn't taste any cheese. So, I cut one in half and discovered that all of the cheese had cooked out! But, my daughter really liked them, so I was fine with that.

We then got out burgers. They were pretty large! In fact, I couldn't eat the whole thing. It was cooked well, but extremely greasy. I had to actually take my napkin and blot the burger several times so that the grease wouldn't get on my clothes.

The fries were nothing special.. I believe they were frozen and not make there. But, the onion rings were pretty good.  They were thin, but not too thin and the batter was very tasty.

All in all, this is a solid place for a burger. Nothing fancy. Just hold your breath as you fight your way through the smoke to your table.

This has to be one of the best kept secrets in the San Antonio Area.

    Staff is always friendly.

    Locals are always friendly

Food - ALL of it -  never disappoints.  More on that in a bit

Beer is the coldest I've had.

First let me start by saying this country bar and grill is unique.  It's like stepping in to a old country dance hall with a divey feel.  The decor is country sheik.

The burgers always very good, fresh and huge.  The Chicken sandwich was delicious.  The brisket nachos appetizer can be a meal in itself.  And the bottle caps and fried pickles, probably the best in San Antonio.  I don't know exactly what they do to them but they are incredible.

Although they do not have a wide selection of beer, it's the coldest beer in town.  With beer this cold, it's so tasty it doesn't matter what kind of beer you're drinking.

As an added bonus, they have live music and a little dance floor to boot scoot.

A true, hidden gem that's definitely worth the trip.
