I go here for two reasons. Â First pints of PBR are $2, and pints of Yuengling are $2.50. Â The second reason I go is to see drunk college students butcher karaoke songs on Saturday. Â Do you recall the first episode of any American Idol season where they play a 15 minute montage of the worst tryouts, and how much you laugh at them? Â Picture those people.
Review Source:A green sign and a few neon lights is all 3rd base needs to attract 500 college kids on a Tuesday Flip Night. Â A $3 cover and a 50% chance of getting your drink for free? Buffalo's finest.
Another upside to this place is that it will never be taken down like its neighbor, PJ's, for letting kids with braces into the door. Â Management actually looks at your ID! Â
Plastic darts, a 7x3 pool table, and girls with a full set of teeth.. not bad at all for Western NY!
This is a great bar for college kids during the school year, and during the summer it's also pretty fun for those of us who have outgrown the frat scene. The best is Flip Night, where you call a coin toss in the hopes of getting your drink for free. The first time I went to Flip Night, I became the bartender's enemy because I won almost 20 free drinks- all but 3 of the ones I ordered...They weren't all for me ;-) It was truly a divine moment in my life- god's way of telling me that Third Base is A-OK.
Review Source:My anaconda don't want none, unless you got buns, hon! Back in my college days my friends and I spent more time in Third Base than class. Â We drank so many Wild Turkey shots that the owner (Bernard) had to start ordering extra stock.
I have fond memories (they're a bit fuzzy, but they are fond) of the old days. Â We knew all the bartenders, bouncers, the DJ, the owner, and most of the patrons. Â Yep, we could order a fresh pitcher of "swill" ($3 for Koch's Golden Anniversary) at 3:59am while everyone else was getting kicked out of the joint. Â Then we'd hangout and drink while they cleaned up... which most of the time included cleaning up our dinner... sorry about that guys.
The best times were spent paying darts, throwing beer in the air while they played House of Pain's "Jump Around" at 3am, watching Bernard wrestle and pin Kevin, and getting shot-down by chicks that were too fat to be looked at in most of the country, but in Buffalo they had attitude... ridiculous!
Anytime I venture back to Buffalo, I most definately stop in. Yeah, to say that I had a good time here is a bit of an understatement.
