It's an Indian casino which means no free drinks. kind of lame but oh well.
There aren't enough tables.
I had been drinking a bit and was pretty excited when I was winning. I clapped and cheered and because it was a thursday night around midnight in the sleepy town of florence, I was one of 11 people in the whole casino. naturally I drew some attention which I feel was a little unwarranted. IT'S A CASINO. have some fun. I didn't get kicked out or anything but the bored pit bosses definitely gave me the stink eye.
whatever, it's the only night entertainment in town so I'll be back when i visit my friends.
I visited this casino in October 2011, it seems to be an older casino with older slot machines (apparently it opened in 2004), but I did win a nice chunk of change so that's always a plus in my book. Many of the slot machines looked like old retired machines from Vegas of about 15 years ago.
Review Source:I've been coming here every year for the past 4 years. They always have new machines which are fun to try. I like that they email you a free $10 every month. Even though, I only use it one to two times a year. It gets me to come in with my family. I've never seen the hotel rooms, or stayed there. I think their food is pretty good. I've eaten there a couple of times. The only reason for the 4 stars is I wouldn't bring in my daughter to even eat here because the smoke is everywhere. =0/
Review Source:I seldom stay in the hotel though it is very nice.  For some reason comped rooms are never available and regular rate is to high. My main problem is the food  in Trios is horrible.  Used to be best food around.  Yesterday I had Seafood bucket 3 tiny rubbery calamari bites  1 piece of cod and 3 small shrimp. The rest of the bucket was full of fries. Not worth 11.00. Plus they charge for the same drinks you can get for free on the floor drink machines.  The waitresses are mostly nice but looked at us like we were stupid  for bringing our drinks in from the casino.Buffet is usually not very appetizing depending on which day and which meal.  All in all
stay with basic hamburger or sandwich. Â I've waited an hour for food in the steakhouse though food is good. Â Great prime rib. Â Over all been very disappointed in the food the last few months
Have you ever been so transfixed by a slot machine that you ended up wetting your pants like a five year old afraid to get off the X-box? Â Has winning $0.30 ever made you so excited you took a drag from your cigarette and oxygen machine at the same time? Â After a long day of watching soaps do you decide "I'm bringing my stuffed monkey doll with me to play slots and I'm going to make his tiny hands push the buttons because Mr. Charlie is good luck."? Â If so, I probably saw you at Three Rivers Casino.
As far as the gambling goes, I think I have more fun feeding cans into a recycling machine and watching my winnings grow $0.05 per turn. Â But, the people watching was priceless. Â If you're bored in Florence, bring $10 to the casino and prepare to be amazed.
The buffet isn't a Reno buffet, it still had pretty good food kind of so so, the noodles were kept in the water way to long they became water logged and very soft for their beef stroganoff, the beef with mushrooms for the stroganoff was pretty good I liked the flavors they mingled well.
The deep fried cod was pretty good, their version of tartar sauce was a little.....different, I didn't like their version of mac 'n' cheese it lacked flavor, and cheese.
I had a cheeseburger I liked the bun it was soft but almost like a kaiser roll, I added chili the chili was a little spicy but still pretty good. I also had mashed potatoes and gravy, the potatoes I just didnt like they were bland and to dry, what I did like the most of all was the fried chicken it looked like it would be hard and dry, but on the contrary when I took a bite it was soft and juicy, it had so much flavor it was very delicious.
For a lunch buffet at $9.99 a person it is worth eating there, just have to decide what you like the best so try a tiny bit of everything. I didn't have the dessert bar because I was to full but it was pretty extensive and they had A LOT of sugar-free items for the diabetics out there which I like a lot :-)
As for the casino, well my husband learned how to play craps, and I played some of the slot machines. Neither of us walked away with money, or even made money. The casino kept it all, but oh well we had fun and its not an everyday thing so its ok :-)
Arrived on a Tuesday, no planned entertainment parking lot was pretty empty..Front desk has a standard reply Sorry hotel is full....said they could take my name if I would be in the casino, and page me if something opened. I wanted to talk to my husband and when he agreed I went back to the check in desk and now they had a room. Just seems a little odd. The room itself was ok the air vents were filled with dust, the carpet around the edge of the room was dirty, they need to purchase new bed sheets as they are worn out and pilled with balls, so its like sleeping on sandpaper. The buffet was ok Tuesday is steak and shrimp, when you pay they give you a ticket to redeem your 1 steak, which they cook for you when you turn the ticket in, same food that is at every other buffet. They give you 10.00 free play for your phone# and email address, this place is geared for seniors who are thrilled when they get a 2.00 jackpot, there is a reason this place is empty, the progressive jackpots are so high, because they never pay, and everyone we talked to agreed you might get hundred free spins in a bonus round but your lucky if your bonus is more then 25.00. Save your money fly to Reno or Vegas where they have some real payouts.
Review Source:i've always liked this hotel, until now. Â the hotel room is still very nice and clean looking (style), but what made it now almost unbearable was the air conditioning unit, as I thought last time was a fluke. Â well, it happened again. Â what happened? Â the air conditioning unit kept coming on and off, ALL freakin' night long. Â and it wasn't just me, but my sis said the exact same thing! Â so you kept becoming either super cold or super hot. Â we did not sleep a wink...OMG. Â but, the buffet here is the BEST buffet in Oregon...seriously....just go to the buffet and don't stay in the hotel. Â yummy yum yum food. Â great quality, etc. Â the casino floor is very bright, but the ceiling seems to get lower every time I visit. Â weird! Â they haven't changed any slot machine since they open I imagine either.
Review Source:Where to go at 4am on a Sunday? Â Long story why that was the question at all, but the choice was simple, the casino!! Â This review may make me look cheap as hell, and that might be right. Â That is all.
Went in, grabbed some complementary soda from the side bar and dropped two dollars into the penny slots. Â Four hours later, I left satisfied and ready for some breakfast. Â Two dollars goes a long way and while I made it all the way up to $10, it was a sound time investment to give it all back and keep playing [even though I'm sure I could have won it all back with just another quarter ;) ]
Otherwise, it's a casino, not sure what you would expect.
I've only gambled here a few times... not my fav. Â It's hard to get past the smoke. Â The new building is much better than before, but still... bleh. Â The chain smoking geriatric crowd gets me a bit queasy.
That said, the restaurant isn't bad. Â Let's keep it in perspective... I'm not talking high-end dining, but considering the other dining options in town, it's good. Â And if you like to eat out for breakfast, it's about the only good option in town. Â The brunch buffet is good, and they make a tasty omlette. Â Sausage last time we went was awful... we'd have sworn it was cooked a couple days prior. Â
table service could use a little improvement.
Four stars....because of the smoking. Â Otherwise a very pleasant surprise as we booked our stay at the last minute due to a "Wild Hare Idea" to escape to the coast this weekend and see Ted Vigil & Justin Shandor perform.
Both of whom are world famous tribute artists who do a fine job impersonating John Denver (Ted) and Elvis (Justin). Â We've seen them before and decided on a moments notice to take the weekend off and "just do it".
I agree with much of what Glen H., Mike K., and Christine D. wrote about.
Because of the timing (ie: short notice and lack of planning) I didn't do my Yelp research before booking and just went on guts and availability.
Turns out Saturday night was a sold out show and the only room available was what I would call the "Presidential Suite" and too pricey for my blood. Â
Still, there were seats available for Friday night and more reasonably priced rooms ($139 a night). Â So Friday it was. Â
Having never been to Florence, we arrived via Hwy 126 from Eugene. Â The casino is easy to find as you come into Florence following the Siuslaw River. Â You'd have to be blind to miss the signs. Â
The place is very new. Â I would guess less than 5 years old and appears to be very well kept.
The smell of smoke does hit you immediately upon entering the building, but I didn't consider it too offensive. Â The odor was there, but knowing it's a casino, it's kind of what you expect. Â I was more pleased to find that our rooms were NON-smoking and once in the elevator the odor became less offensive.
Room 207....second floor maybe 1/4 down the hallway. Â Upon entering, it was VERY spacious. Â Clean. Â Well appointed. Â Bathrooms were large with a separate room for the commode and shower. Â
Again, very clean. Â Comfortable throne with plenty of room...if you know what I mean.
King size bed was similar to our faves at Sheraton. Â Stable, not too soft but not too firm. Â
Enormous flat screen TV felt like it was almost the same width as the bed. Â Enjoyed watching some Direct TV. Â So no pay per view movie selections. Â Direct TV listings were basic with maybe 30 channels.
We also had dinner at the Prime Rib restaurant and enjoyed a very fine meal for two at just under $100 (not including tip).
Not a large restaurant, but the booths are secluded and romantic. Â Service was outstanding and the food very good. Â Your basic red-meat and potato fare. But we love the fatted calf, so we were very pleased. Â
I would say that the molten lava cake for dessert was sub-par in retrospect....lacking in enough of the molten chocolate sauce that should have spilled out upon cutting into the cake. Â In short, it was dry.
Had the same experience with the "free $10 in gaming cash" and was advised to put $1 in the machine and then you could play off the $10 on your card but we forgot that part.
Took us a bit to "figure that out" as we first just put the card in and forgot about putting in our own buck to get it going. Â Felt like idiots for about 15 minutes!
Still, we walked out of the non-smoking slot room with $10 in hand. Â Well, I should say with a printed voucher for $10 that you redeem at the cashier station out on the gaming floor.
Like most casinos these days, the clink and clatter of coins falling into your tray are a sound of the past. Â I kind of miss it. Â Instead, you "cash out" and the machine prints you a voucher to take to the cashier.
The show we came for was not a disappointment. Â But aside from providing the room, chairs, stage and event staff....not much else credit can be given to 3 Rivers for their part.
I will say that we came to see Ted (as John Denver) after hearing he was going to be there. Â But when I looked on the casino website, they only mentioned Justin (as Elvis) with no mention of Ted. Â It would have been nice to see him at least billed as "Opening" or something to that effect as we were a bit nervous that we might have purchased tickets for the wrong show.
All in all, we would not hesitate to come back here. Â I hear the Beatles are supposed to be playing in April....we might make another trip over then.
I have now been to every Tribal casino in Oregon, and I have to say (of the Oregon casinos that have hotels) this place has the best rooms. Â We were not able to get wifi in our room, even though there was a card in our room boasting free wifi. Â But other than that, the room was very nice and well-furnished, with free bottled water and a big flat screen TV.
We ate dinner at the Prime Rib restaurant. Â It was spendy, but definitely worth every penny. Â The food and service were outstanding...some of the best I've had on the Coast.
The gaming floor is not very big and nothing to brag about, but I don't do a lot of gambling anyway. Â Most (if not all) other Oregon casinos do not allow alcohol on the gaming floor, but Three Rivers is an exception. Â Most of the staff were pretty friendly (the doorman gave me the stinkeye and then wouldn't let me park up front while I checked in, but he was the exception rather than the norm) and made us feel at home. Â
Bottom line: Â I wouldn't go here specifically for the gambling, but if you're in the area it's a nice place to spend the night.
We went there Sunday night just to check out the scene. Â We arrived and parked in the area to check in. Â We got checked in and went up to a beautiful room. Â King sized bed, a beautiful supply of bath soaps and even crystals to soak in the tub if you like.
The TV in the room was a huge flat screen approximately 40 inch would be my guess. Â
We didn't check out the gaming that evening but instead went downstairs for dinner at the Prime Rib Steak House. Â I'm not a red meat eater by any stretch so, I was curious to see what else they had on the menu. Â
Their menu was posted on the exterior of the restaurant so you could get a good idea of what was offered. Â They mentioned salmon so I was ready to check it out.
We got inside and it was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Â We were seated right away and Nicole, a veteran of the casino for the last five years, was our waitress. Â
We placed our order and our salad and bread came out right away. Â We selected an Oregon Pinot Noir from the listings, it was an Underwood Cellars from Tualatin, OR, which went for $22. Â Not too bad on the price and pretty tasty as well.
The salmon was good, served up on a cedar plank, with fresh veggies and couscous. Â My bf had a rack of lamb, which looked tasty and he said it was very nicely done.
The general atmosphere was very quiet and upper scale, I forgot that there was a gaming floor just outside the doors. Â They had some instrumentals Christmas Carols playing in the background that were a nice touch and not over powering. Â All in all, a tasty meal for under $100.
We checked out the gaming floor the following day and they will give you ten dollars of their money to play with if you sign up for a players card. Â So, of course, we both did that.
You have to place money in the machine for it to work first and then it will work off of the ten dollars they have placed on your card.
I was on a losing streak for a while but having only a dollar bill on me at the time that's what I put in and took out ten dollars so I guess I have no complaints for about 30 minutes of play.
They had a variety of machines just on a smaller scale compared to Spirit Mountain in Grand Ronde.
I'll be back to spend more time here.
Gambling isn't really for me. But I like to watch old people gamble. Something about people that need to be on oxygen plunking down coin after coin that I can't stop staring at. I also very much enjoy small time music acts or formally big time ones with out all the original members. Even with all that I still didn't really like the place much.
Review Source:Let me start by saying I grew up in Florence. I watched the battle the citizens of Florence had against the building of the casino and I've seen the mostly positive benefits the casino has brought. They provide a number of needed jobs in the small town and they supply an additional draw for tourism. I wouldn't want to see the place fail, but I also can't give it a good review.
First the positive:
Free stand up comedy every Wednesday. Quality of comics not guaranteed. Last night I saw one "meh" comic and one terrible comic. This dudes sketch of David Hasselhoff was classic though. Â It sounds like LOL Wednesday (not kidding, that's the name) can be pretty hit or miss, but then again, live comedy (bad or not) is something truly needed in a stormy coastal town during the winter.
Blackjack, poker, slots, keno, off track betting. There's a little bit of it all.
They are open 24 hours a day. It's never too late to lose some money betting on black!
On to the downsides:
The place wreaks of smoke, and every third person is puffing away madly inside the casino. I don't understand why any establishment would want to allow smoking, casino or not. I know people who smoke and they can't even handle it inside. You're wearing cigarette smoke after hanging out in this place longer than 5 minutes.
Pitiful beer selection. Coors, Bud, Hefeweizen. I guess they usually have Wakonda but had run out when I was there. Â Are you kidding me? We're in the NW! This casino is 60 miles from Oakshire and Ninkasi, Confederated Tribes of Lower Umpqua, Coos and Siuslaw, please step it up. Also if they have Wakonda when you visit, order it. Deeeeee-lish-ess.
Here's an interesting rule: Â Leave the casino and come back and you won't be allowed to purchase a drink. Well screw you too Three Rivers Casino, I'll take my business to 7-11.
If  you still have two good hips and don't like smoking this place may not be for you. If you like gambling and sometimes decent comedy, maybe you should try your luck.
