Disclaimer: I love dive bars. Â
The Time Warp is certainly a dive bar. Â It isn't the dirtiest, darkest dive I've ever been in (by far), but it isn't upscale by any means. I think the bar was established in the 70s but the building itself has a little bit of history and in my opinion, Watertown, NY needs to hold onto and upkeep its historical aspects/buildings. Â
The crowd is mostly local so if you'd like to avoid the scene of crazy young military men and hang out with some chill (albeit sometimes wasted) locals, here's your place. The service is generally great. Â The only bartenders that I've encountered are Dave, Angie and Ryan. Ryan is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Drinks are pretty inexpensive but that's par for the course in Watertown. Â I am bummed that they no longer have Blue Moon on tap...I'm pretty sure my friend and I killed the keg twice in one week and it hasn't been back since.
Tuesday is wing night and The Time Warp has some awesome wings. I can't remember the special but on any other night they're .50 a piece so they must be crazy cheap on Tuesdays. I like the regular 'hot' wings but the Hackers sauce is pretty infamous around here. It's like hot but to me tastes a little more heavy on the vinegar. Â I've also tried the Italian Stallion and Black Betty...both are very good but I cannot seem to depart from my regular hot wings. Â I'm a creature of habit, I guess.
Thurs-Sat there are usually local bands playing at the Warp and many are very good. Â The bar also has three dart boards, a couple of random arcade games, and a fooseball table.
