Gordan Ramsey where are you? The Tin Fish needs you.......desperately.

11 of us went last night, a Monday evening, for a friends bday dinner. As we pull into the lot we wondered if they were open due to no cars in the lot. Now i realize it was a Mon., but the billboard if advertising 1/2 off the entire menu, and you'd think that would bring someone in.

They were open and we were seated promptly. Drinks were ordered so we looked over the menu while waiting for the drinks, and waited and waited. Finally the drinks arrive for 3/4 of us and 2 of the drinks were wrong. So ordered apps while we waited again for the never delivered drinks and the screwed up drinks.

The apps, 1/2 doz oysters arrived and had not even been separated from the shell. Ohh oh I said to myself. The corrected drinks but not the forgotten drinks also arrived. So we informed the waitstaff again while we ordered our entrees.

Salads arrived and thank goodness were ok, but still no drinks until we grabbed the "manager" and let him know.

No sooner were the first bites of salad consumed and whammo here's dinner.I ordered the Tuna au poivre medium rare on the tuna please.  across from me Blackened Tuna was ordered and another ordered the steak medium, and further down the table steak well done was ordered.
Dinners arrived and with the medium steak the waiter asked to have them cut open the steak to see if it was correct, they did, it wasn't and that steak was plopped in front of the well done person with no explanation as to why their steak was already cut. URGHHHHH.

My tuna was a lovely shade of pepto bismol pink (frozen tuna) at a seafood restaurant. How could I be so sure of this you ask. The blackened tuna order was neither blackened (same pepto pink) or defrosted as he cut and into it and  hit ice crystals. Oh the drinks from when we arrived finally showed up, it was a iced tea.

The waitstaff better be happy tips was automatic because of the party size because it would have been 2 cents. LOL and they gave back to much change which i figure I'll keep as they are to busy getting a refill n the drinks.
I guess far eastside boaters will keep this place alive with the pull up Tiki bar but I hope they wise up soon.

Three of us had lunch inside and thought food and view of Lake St Clair were very good, however, the service was slow.  Dinner menu appeared to be pricey.  Will definately return for lunch and dinner.  Best tasting perch ever.

I came here with my family.  You can't beat the view overlooking Anchor Bay.  Also boat accessable.  The food is overpriced and portions are average.  We ordered the special which was very cheap ($8.99)compared to the rest of the menu which was the all you can eat fish and chips.  Mind you no soup, salad or breadbasket, or even silverware for that matter.  The fish was pretty good.  It took the waiter forever to even ask us if we wanted more fish (the dinner came with 3 pieces the size of a deck of cards).  When he finally gave us some more  a while later he only gave four pieces (there were four of us in the party).  I had a great Absolute dirty martini, the price $11.  My husband had a pint draft Sam Adams, the price $5.   I know you're going to pay more off the water, just to let you know the drinks aren't cheap.  So if your a show off boater with some money trying to impress some babes, two thumbs up.  If not...wait until a groupon or some other coupon comes out because you'll need it.

This place has an amazing atmosphere. The outdoor patio is right on the water, has live entertainment during the evening, tiki bar and a fireplace. Great if you have a boat, the restaurant has their own docks. I come here strictly for drinks and appetizers though. I find the food a little over priced for what you get. Mostly, I think your paying for the dining experience. Can't wait for a mojito on the patio in the summer months again!

Tin Fish was great when it was Surf North, and then it changed ownership and went downhill.

The prices are ridiculous for what you get. The perch is the only satisfactory meal I've had, but you can get the same thing at a hole in the wall fish fry joint in Marine City for 7 bucks. Every time I've dined in, it was as if the dining room was under construction. Servers and managers were constantly rearranging tables to accomodate big parties since they didn't take reservations.

They used to have a Tiki Night every Wednesday during the summer, and that was good for the giant fishbowl drinks and Mad Dog the DJ. However, the crowd (as one would probably expect) is upper class locals with bad attitudes and serious drinking problems. It seems that every time I'd been there late at night there were plenty of drunken fights and just obnoxious, angry people. Not the crowd I'm pleased to be around.

The Tin Fish is one of the nicest outdoor restaurants on Lake St Clair.  It also has an indoor restaurant overlooking the lake if the weather is not cooperating or if you want to watch tv at the bar.  You may be tempted to stay outside though, as they have a sweet fireplace and outdoor heater lamps.

When I first came here in 2002, they had an all you can eat pig roast for ten bucks. I believe it was on a Wednesday, and it was my kick off to the summer.  Unfortunately, they do not do that anymore. BOO!  I swear they also use to have burger and beer for five bucks on Fridays, but maybe that is just wishful thinking mixed with alcohol.

This place is a bit pricey, but they have to pay for all the renovation they have done outside.  They often have a band playing outside (May till September)  to help create the atmosphere of being on vacation while still in Michigan.  The staff even wears a Hawaiian shirts.

It is closed for the season now, being winter 2009-10, and they have a new restaurant in Partridge Creek. I have yet to be at that location, I just hope this one stays open.

One last thing, expect to have your car valet. It is a small parking lot, and there is no where else to park.  Boaters have no issue ;)

I am really really a big FAN of eating outside on the water. Did I mention I am a big fan of water? Oh..I love drinking outside by the water too! I instantly fell in love with our table outside overlooking Lake St. Clair and their tiki bar. Such a great place to go and simply look out on the water and enjoy a cocktail. The restaurant itself is a bit on the upscale side and service seems a bit nervous but quite knowledgeable when it comes to seafood and wine. The menu is quite extensive and can put a dent on that debit card of yours! That evening the three chefs in back were having a cook off we were told, they each came up with a signature dish and through the night the dish ordered the most, that chef would win. I love things that make the menu exciting! I ordered some Tilapia covered with potatoes. Honestly the food was probably three stars (even the bites I snagged from the BF). I am big on seasoning and the food came across more safe and bland to me. The lobster bisque was so-so...not really worth the $9 up charge (when soup came with the meal!). I would recommend this place for cocktails at the tiki bar and an appetizer...Perfect place to dock your boat and relax and enjoy the water.

When I was a kid, this was my mother's restaurant of choice.  At that point, it was called Surf North.  The ambiance was pretty wonderful, located right on the water the restaurant has some really great tables.  My husband recently took me here for dinner- our meal was alright.  I've said this in other posts, but I hate over paying for a mediocre experience.  I would return just to give this place another chance.  I want to like it because it's in a great location.

The margarita's were great but the food and ambience were so-so.  At our table we had perch (good), pecan-crusted pickerel (good), tuna nicoise salad (terrible - sent back).  We liked the crab cake appetizer and chicken quesadilla.  The singer in the band made people stand up and either sing or dance to Mo-town music.  I sat cringing at our table.  Luckily it was my sister who had to stand up and dance with the singer.  Whew!
I would go back for the view of the lake and the drinks!
