YEAH Tipsy Seagull!! We stopped at the Tipsy Seagull by chance around 3 on a Sunday afternoon... the weather had been iffy and overcast for the last few days and I had second thoughts of entering upon looking up at the sky, but as soon as we got out of the car the sound of the band ("Second Chance") playing surprisingly impressive covers of Kenny Chesney, Jack Johnson, the Beatles and the like -lured me in. I'm so glad we stayed - the weather cleared up, and it was such a nice change of pace from a routine visit to a  stuffy bar to being able to collapse onto a comfy couch and kick my feet up with a glass of wine, wind blowing in my hair, sun on my face, staring out at the water (though not the most scenic of views, you're looking right at the Braga bridge and the water towers ----these days when it comes to being near the ocean, I'll take whatever i can get!!)

A tiki-style bar complete with fake palm trees and cheesy lights. Great spot for people watching. For being such a dive, I was surprised at how clean the bathrooms appeared.

I ordered the grilled fish tacos and hubs had the lobster roll which was generously stuffed with lobster meat - he said it was great! Fish tacos were standard to sub-par and I had to go up and ask for the guac and sour cream which they forgot about, but I was so happy to be outside on the water listening to great music, I really didn't care too much about the food! I would not plan on going here with the sole intention of having a delicious lunch or dinner. If you are looking for a change of scene for an afternoon booze-fest or night out for drinks, definitely check this place out!

Tip -we noticed a sign upon leaving that noted no one under the age of 25 is allowed in on weekends after 7pm (to keep the college floozies from jumping in the bay??), and they also have dress code rules for guys - no tank tops, etc. - a guy wearing camo shorts was turned away. Make sure if you wear a hat that it is "appropriately curved",  and "worn correctly".

My boyfriend and I wanted to try this out after recommendation of a nice view and outdoor seating. We get in line after the bouncer, less than graciously, tells me I have to be 25 to get in. I turn around to look at the group of guys behind me who he did in fact let in who were clearly intoxicated, loud, and roudy. I'm not sure what the idea is behind the "25 rule" considering I was dressed nicely, sober, and we were a couple -- what did they think we were going to do? I don't know who thinks they can judge a person by their age considering the majority of the patrons inside of this place were in their 40s and acting like it was a frat party. Now, I'm all set with the place and will never return.

My hottie boyfriend and I went here last weekend and were turned away because he had on a brand new Boston hat. We waited in line for at least twenty minutes and as soon as we made it to the front, the guy checking i.d's notified my boyfriend he can't get in with his straight rim hat. What?!?! My boyfriend said he would just take it off and hold it, but the guy said no, we had to go put it in our car! We parked miles away because there was no parking. And why make us wait 20 minutes until we are about to get in, to tell us of your lame rule. Not cool...This guy saw us waiting in line.
So according to the owners rule; guys can get in wearing beat hats with bent rims, holes and faded colors that look old, worn out and cheap but denied entrance wearing a brand new hat? My boyfriend's hat was all black with the letter B on the front for Boston.
Who does the owner think he is with his dumb-ass rules. Total discrimination!
My boyfriend's a pilot, not a gangsta! We just left...decided to never come back to this place and we will tell everyone we know! I heard the owner is a cokehead and got beat up outside a bar in providence after he used the D list celebrity line to get in..."don't you know who I am?"  Classy!

Burger was good and the frozen drink was enjoyable. Nachos appetizer was not worth the money at all. Nice atmosphere by the water

The worst establishment I have ever been to in my life.  A friend and I went because a local magazine was having a networking night there.  I was drinking red wine, and after ordering one or two at $4.00 a piece, I wanted another.  I tried to get the bartenders attention to no avail.  I tried hard too but they kept ignoring us.  I noticed that on the other end of the bar the other bartender was actually serving people, so I got my butt up went to the other end of the bar and ordered the same wine. "4.50"  she said to me.  What?  I was just paying 4!  She explained to me that the other register was ringing them up at that price.  So of course, I told her to go to that register to ring up my wine.  She didn't.  No big deal, what was $.50?  I get back to my seat, and my friend says 'watch them behind the bar, this place is so full of health code violations it's disgusting'  I thought she was overreacting.  She wasn't.  This is what I saw (and I'm not making this up):
    1.  The three sink system was in place, but one sink was full of ice and beer.  Because they didn't have a sink, they were rinsing the dishes directly into the sink that contained the beer bottles that they were serving customers.
    2.  The bus boy (or some young kid that worked in the kitchen) came out to empty the trash.  The trash was too full to close up, so he proceeded to take one of the fry baskets that were stacked up, and push the trash down with it.  Now, he rinses it in the sink with those same bottles I mentioned earlier (the basket was never scrubbed)and put it back in the pile of other baskets and put it in the kitchen.

The view ain't worth the botulism.

My colleague, who has never been to RI or MA, was with me for a weekend assignment.  Once we finished our work he wanted to watch his team play football.  We yelped sports bars and came up with two - Taphouse Grille and Tipsy Seagull.  We went first to the former and then decided to hit the Tipsy Seagull on the way out of town - 1. for the name alone 2. because it is on the water.  I grew up in the area and never went to Fall River to "hang out" so I was totally surprised with this find.

The Tipsy Seagull is literally on a pier that sways with the current.  It is in a marina in a nice area of town, right near the Braga Bridge.

This place is seasonal, and we happened to get there during its closing weekend (Columbus Day).  Though there was a rain storm brewing the service was great and we could tell there was a great vibe.  I had the Crabbie's (alcoholic ginger beer) and my colleague had a house made pineapple punch.   We were in a hurry to catch a train so the kind folks of the Tipsy Seagull offered to expedite our dinner orders and wrap them to go.  The sandwiches were great.  Fresh ingredients, nice sides.

There are some warnings about dress code on the sign at the entrance.  I don't know what this would mean for a normal summer evening.  Maybe it wouldn't be my type of crowd?  I can't wait for the Tipsy Seagull to reopen next spring.  I'd like to check it out again.  I loved the Crabbie's beer and I'm obsessed with finding another place to get it!

Its a bar on a barge. Located in a marina. The view is great. Tends to have a good breeze. And the place has a great staff and its comfortable.

I like the Tipsy. Been there a few times with friends. It is a great place to have a cold beer in the summer in Fall River. The Tipsy is located on on the water- literally. It's on a barge like structure that floats in the marina. The view is great, prices are reasonable, service is fast and friendly. Boats come right up to the side and tie up.
Generally a fun and relaxing place. I'll be back! If you are not familiar with The Riv, good luck finding it- part of the fun of going there I guess.

Wife and I stopped by on a early weekend night.  They say a key to a business is location location location.  Well this place has a beautiful location.  It's on the water in a very quite area. I forgot we were in Fall River.  Found a seat very quickly, it's seat yourself.  I have been told it gets very crowded late...  There menu is small, so I got a turkey club and the wife got a chicken wrap.  Decent club, would have been great with french fries, but they don't serve them.  Really???  Service was quick.  Had a few beers before leaving.  Bar area look fun and inviting, lots of people hanging out enjoying the day. You can also dock you boat and stop by for a meal.  Love it...
If you live in the area and enjoy a water front view while drinking a few brewskies you will love this little place.  I say stop by before the summer is over...

Yes, the place allows smoking.  Funny, with all of the wind, you just don't notice it that much.  Or, you can lounge on the couch where if someone lights up, the guy fueling his boat next to you will shoot them dead where they once stood.  There isn't bud on tap (boo hoo).  But there is Magic Hat, the ubiquitos Sam Adams selections and Blue Moon.  The bartenders here are well schooled and just plain nice.  They serve a nice, albeit expensive drink.  But you get every bit of what you pay for here, sports fans.  The fish tacos are very much excellent.  Fresh and lots.  So, what's not to like ?  Me having you there!  Don't come here if you are under 25!  Oh wait!!  Snap (excuse me, I was just skewered in the backside for using such youngins jargon)...after 8pm, the little whippersnapperpencilneckgeekheads aren't allowed in anyway!  No stiff brim ball caps, no idiotic rap jams, none of that.  Permission to come on board, sir ???  Sure.  Just don't get between me and my drinkie poo and we'll be fine.  [in the voice of Thurston Howard III] "Oh Lovie dear.....could I get another one of those Grey Goosies on the rocks ?? "

My friend and I went to this establishment for a little fun on a Sunday evening around 8 and were told that the wait was over an hour and were dissuaded into going in by the bouncer.  Meanwhile, there were people walking in and waiting happily for a table.  Perhaps my friend and I didn't fit the profile of their regular clientele.

Went on hot Sunday in June.  Arrive by boat -dock guys great.  Waiter nice. Food sucked.  This is absolutely a place just to drink.  Nice to be down on water.  Never intend to go back.  Waited 15 minutes for waiter to come back with CC to cashout. Waiter said he was waiting on whoever was cashing stuff out in back room/kitchen.  don't know why waiter can't do it.  Wanted another 5  minutes and asked waiter again.  At this point someone in kitchen slammed door on my face. (P.S. Kitchen was filthy.  Good idea to keep door shut.)

Summertime, and the livin' is easy at the Tipsy Seagull. It's great to see a happening beach bar carving out a name for itself in the city where I grew up. This is an example of how Fall River can make use of its waterfront and actually present a viable alternative to Newport's summer crowds (though be warned, the Tipsy hits capacity many nights), parking hassles and costs.

OK, so you're looking across the Bay at a power plant and not the sunset over the Pell Bridge or gazing at some foreign prince's yacht, but consider this: you will enjoy live music. You will more than likely be able to find a table. You will not pay to park. You may enjoy a $2 draft of beer that is several steps above bathroom gin. The food (pub fare all the way) is tasty. And you won't have to pass over a single toll bridge on your way from Providence. And, you're on a floating dock!

Located in Borden Light Marina, this is one of the nicer, tucked away corners of The Riv. If you close your eyes on a ninety-degree day, you might be magically transported to Key West. I'm serious. This is a seasonal spot, so don't wait for summer to pass you by. Take a rain check on a more ambitious and wallet draining Newport or Cape Cod jaunt and try the Tipsy - you might be pleasantly surprised to find a go-to summer gem nestled in the heart of Spindle City.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I finally paid a visit to the Tipsy Seagull recently on a warm Friday night. We started with a couple of cheap beers, snagged a couch and enjoyed the view of the boats in the harbor as the sun set.

Beautiful scenery + live music + comfy couches to lounge on the lower deck + a well-behaved crowd all help you forget for a bit that you're in the Dirty Riv.

My only complaints would be the smokers everywhere (people still smoke? seriously? come on!) and way too much sour mix in the margarita (even after I requested NO sour mix, yuck!)

Toss overboard, any expectations of what you think a dockside bar in Fall River will be like and give the Tipsy a try for yourself.

The Tipsy is generally where I take my out of town friends if they're coming to stay with me for the night in Fall River. It's a great atmosphere, the bartenders are good about noticing you, and you're right out there on the water.

Even the Tipsy on a bad day is better than Sky Lounge on its best day.

I try to rally my co-workers to go whenever possible because it's one of those places that just sort of make you feel moe relaxed as soon as you get there.

Do you know that split second feeling you get when you wake up away from home and for a fleeting moment, you think you're still there? Well, the same phenomenon can be experienced at the Tipsy Seagull, only it works the other way around.

Because if you're from Fall River, when you visit the Tipsy you don't at all feel like you're home.

    Key West, perhaps.

    But hardly Fall River.

Wherever you think you are, it's probably more pleasant than where you came from. After all, what's not to love about a floating bar in Massachusetts that also permits smoking?

And with the comfort of knowing there are Sam Adams Summer Ale, Blue Moon and Land Shark on tap, you can take in the great views of Mount Hope Bay without the gnawing frustration of having to endure cheap American light beer.

Theoretically, strict enforcement of the dress code should help to keep the 50 Cent wannabes at bay, making this a great go-to spot for years to come.

This place is AWESOME!  I would have never known it ever existed if it wasn't from my friend from Fall River who said...you want to go to a place like Newport but it's Fall River.

Drinks are legit....one thing is daytime staffing left one girl to service the entire place so be aware but definately not a downfall.

This place is kinda awesome. If you're longing for the Cape, the Keys, or wherever you identify with for slow and easy summer days on the water with a cold beer, this is the place.

It's a bar on a floating dock. You can dock your boat there, or just drive up. It's in a sketchy corner of Fall River, but once you get there, you'll think you've been transported. It's in a marina, a stone's throw from the Braga Bridge.

It doesn't have a massive beer selection or great food or anything, but you can get a cold Corona, a pina colada, or sangria and the atmosphere is perfect.

I strongly advise you check it out if you're in the area. And if you're not, I think it's worth a trip from Providence on a sunny Saturday.

Whats not to love about the Tipsy?

Well lets discuss what there IS to love:
First of all, you're drinking on a BARGE catchin some sun and swaying with the waves
Secondly, you get to watch a romantic sunset over the power-plants
Third, the one man band is completely awesome .. he sings random songs from Forgetting Sarah Marshall and the Hangover (great entertainment)
Fourth, if you have a boat or jet ski you can pull right up to the barge since its in Fall River's marina
And Did I mention the awesome sunset over the power-plants? lol...

They have bar food, they have mudslides, they have music, they have outdoor patio sets to relax and enjoy the boats going by. Its just a great atmosphere and the best part about it is,.... you don't even feel like you're in Fall River!!!

You must be 25+ after 8pm .. and all day long they are strict about attire. I know, your on a barge on the water how can they be strict? ... No idea, but they are. My cousin wanted to wear a red sox jersey and he had to change or wouldn't have been allowed in. Weird, I know.. but they're trying to keep a certain tone and crowd.

Its a great place along the water to hang out in the summer. Perfect place to sip some beers and enjoy the sun.

Great place to hang out in the summer. I can't comment on the food, since I only had beer during my visit. Regarding the atmosphere, this place provides a pleasant and unique drinking environment (as long as the weather cooperates). located on floating docks in the Taunton river, "tipsy" makes for an appropriate part of the name.

Prices are average and they carry a good selection of beer.

Sweet spot for eats, drinks and brews. Fall Rivers' own floating restaurant makes me wish summer lasted for another 18 months (then again, that's a good idea no matter what). I do hope they bring in some of the local brew because sitting at the bar, sipping a cold brew at the Tipsy is close to heaven.

We were so happy to find this bar...right on the water, somewhat hidden down a side street in Fall River.

Full bar, new menu with grill items, drink specials, reasonable prices.

Entertainment is provided several days a week; we have been on Sunday afternoons a few times and there has been a Jimmy Buffet tribute band. Margaritaville playing, sun shining, palm trees blowing (okay, fake palm trees, but still...) and for a brief moment we thought we were back in Key West. :-)
