I wish this place was in raleigh because raleigh doesnt have any place that even get close to how utterly charming, sweet, and relaxing as this place is.

First Imagine being lost in an almost alice in wonderland like library with couches chairs table and floor lights.  Then bring the lighting down to a smoldering glow make the temperature just perfectly comfortable.  The conversation is light and airy the people are happy everyones very seductively lounging against one another.....okay maybe not that hot and steamy but pretty close.

    Tea and More:
They have a pretty impressive selection of teas in black, oolongs, and herbal I worry about the overall storage of their teas not for sanitation reasons but if the containders they seep them in arent air tight then the tea is going stale and thats just a waste.  I highly recommend their Casa Blanca, Verba Matte, and Lapsang Souchong teas very rich flavors we well as good for you.   Their English Lemonade is also very it it ios a very TART lemonade so sip with caution!

    Food:
They have a pretty extensive vegetarian list ranging from veggie burger wraps, to a pear and havarti sandwich.  I was really impressed by this because they dont even proclaim themselves as a special vegetarian place but they made a great menu for the people in the area who need somewhere to go.  There is also a non vegetarian options for those who cant resist the meat.

Overall, This place it a great please I wish it was here in raleigh because people here would LOOOOVE IT but it being in greenville makes me appreciate it more and is a place I visit even if im just passing through.

    xoxo

I wanted SO badly to love this place because it represents everything I like. Ugh, I've tried. I just can't muster up any deep affection for it.

-The tea? The tea is pretty good. Of course, I can drink the two person pot with ease and then I start doing the math and figuring out how much I'm paying per cup of tea, then I remember that I drove and I think about gas money, and then I start thinking about how much it costs to sit in my living room and drink tea and...well, you get the idea. What I'm saying is that for something clearly not cost effective, it better be damn good.

-The service - ranges from friendly to abrupt. Nothing awful, and wouldn't even be worth mentioning except that in Greenville even a neutral service experience is better than the norm. So I guess they're doing okay?

-The ambiance is nice and cozy, until you realize that your computer is dying and you're faced with finding an outlet - good luck with that, they're scarce.

-The local wares for sale (jewelry, little gifty things, etc) have the misfortune of being both tacky and overpriced. How cool would it be to come into your local tea house and discover an awesome pair of funky earrings, ironic magnets, or cozy fingerless gloves - all made by a local artist! Super cool, right? Yeah, TT will not be that place for you. Keep lookin', sister.

-Need to know what time they close, if they're open on Mondays, or what live events are planned for the weekend? Don't go to the website, you're not going to find what you're looking for. In fact, the last event listed is for October 31, 2010. Yup, last updated three years ago.

    - The temperature, I've never been during the summer, but in the winter months it is slightly above the outside temp. Whenever I go here it's because I'm trying to get some serious studying done and by the end of my typing/note taking my fingers are freezing and my toes are starting to go numb. I usually don't even bother taking off my coat and hat. Again, I always find myself wondering why I didn't stay home where it is a balmy 65 degrees.

-The food. Ahhh, the food makes me the saddest. Is it local? Yes! Is it organic? Yes! Is it delicious? ...no.  Such a tragedy. Portions are small, flavors are off (sweets are way too sweet), sandwiches are dry, prices are high for what you get. Prime example, I ordered yogurt, granola and fresh fruit and was disappointed with the saccharine soupy mess I was given. I remember being puzzled by canned pineapple being considered "fresh" and I'm not saying the yogurt *was* vanilla flavored yoplait, but that's what it tasted like.

I feel like everything is made by people who like to cook, but don't really know how. Like, maybe they asked all their friends if their food was good and if they should start a restaurant and their friends looked sideways at each other and said "suuuureee... that sounds.... great" and then Tipsy Tea Pot was born.

So all and all, is Tipsy a disaster? No. And if you're looking for a little piece of imitation Chapel Hill , I guess this counts. But what sucks is that it has the potential to be PHENOMENAL and it falls so, so short.

It's taken me a while to finally stroll into this place. I love how the walls are lined with books. It's super cozy with the music stage in the room partitioned next door.  That allows one to hear the live band, but still be able to hold a conversation. I only tried the chai latte here because they ran out of milk and I couldn't get the peppermint hot chocolate. Nevertheless it was quite tasty.  The vibe here is laid back and not overwhelmingly collegesque. I definitely have to come back out for a show sometime.

As a vegan and a fan of supporting independent, non-chain restaurants, the Tipsy Teapot is a great little gem that Greenville has to offer with a home-like type atmosphere and relaxing setting. There used to be used books for sale throughout however the owner is phasing them out in favor of selling local artisan works. I'll miss the books but local artwork is a great addition as well.

Being a vegan, they also offer several vegan friendly options on their menu which is fantastic of healthy selections of very delicious meals and beverages. Oh and sometimes live music (appealing to the local hipster crowd),comedy shows and art expos are shown on the "tipsy side" of the cafe (bar area). It is a nice  place.

The teas and coffees are very good :) I do whatever I can to stay away from Starbucks and support the smaller chains who need the customer base more than Starbucks and their overpriced coffees. And this is the place in which I prefer to sate the caffeine addiction. The smoothies and teas are also very good as well :)

Overall, I love it and would be there all of the time if I could. I recommend this to any local and/or visiting vegans looking for vegan fares in this town!

The Tipsy Teapot is awesome.  Great atmosphere, friendly and personable staff and tasty food.  I especially enjoy the spicy tofu wrap with fresh fruit.  They have a good beer selection and are the only venue in town showcasing talented original music.  Please support them, especially during the summer when business is slow.  I really appreciate what the Tipsy Teapot does for this community!!!!

Tipsy Teapot is everything I love about Greenville. The small town is becoming a diverse small town and TT represents this. When you walk in you automatically feel at home with the warm red paint on the walls, the high victorian ceiling, and the comfy sleep-inducing chairs to your right. TT recently got spinning egg chairs and are a favorite of everyones. TT has everything. It has a wide variety of books in good condition ranging from hard-cover to paperback. You will often find people from different backgrounds lounging in the chairs or sitting at the tables conversing with professors. TT is a GREAT spot for public wifi. It's free and reliable, which is why I have bummed off it more than once.
The food is wonderful. Since it is a restaurant promoting a progressive lifestyle, they offer a wide-range of vegetarian foods, but also cater to the meat eaters. The best thing that you could possibly get at TT is the lasagna and a pot of chai tea.
What is really special about TT is that it bring s the community together with frequent local band concerts, a poster board for people to display happenings and events, and even brunch every second Sunday of the month.
Brunch is delicious, especially the bacon! It's cheaper than most of the brunches downtown and offers British elements to it. There's endless coffee and tea and plenty of people come to support it.
You'll certainly find friends at TT. Enjoy!

So I can't say I'm ever in the mood to actually hang out at Tipsy, I come here for the music and stay for the beer.

Tipsy is a used bookstore, coffee bar, nosh-style restaurant, and study zone.  Centrally located between any part of "uptown" you may ever need to visit  ie. Starlight, Winslows [pre-douche crowd], and expressions.  They do a good job of catering to their crowd and I appreciate their presence out here.

As far as live music goes Greenville has location few and far between for a decent show.  Tipsy is a main stage figure and caters to local and traveling bands.  They have a decent sound system and their bar [Beer and Wine only] has a good selection of craft beers and tasty wine.

Aside from live music they also are active in the community holding meetings, events based around arts/culture/community service, and have a pretty awesome staff to make everything happen.

    Come check it out.

Wait, so it's a tea house, a used book store, AND a bar during the evenings?  It has excellent, vegetarian friendly food, comfortable seating, AND serves boba tea?  Sign.  Me.  Up.

(My one drawback - I'm not a live music person.  But if that's your thing, Tipsy Teapot has that too).

Come.  Eat, drink, and relax, surrounded by an atmosphere of casual, calm, coolness.  A great place to grab lunch, meet a group of friends, or study.  A Greenville Oasis!

It's hard to rate the Teapot - it's clearly targeted to a specific demographic, and there's not much else to say.  It's a (mostly used) bookstore, but I've never been interested enough in purchasing a "book" to look at their selection.  I see a lot of students there studying on occasion, and I have tried to walk in for lunch or a snack - but nothing has appealed to me on their menu.  This may be myself that is defective rather than the Teapot, but, so it goes.

Seriously serious tea. Great shop with knowledgeable staff and a wonderful atmosphere. It was really difficult to leave this place after I went inside. I can't fully articulate the feeling, except to say, "Go, take a book, buy some tea, stay forever..."

I spent many weekends here last summer. What I like most is that it's laid back enough to hang out there for a couple hours, and there's often some kind of fun event like jazz night (which is awesome and I highly recommend) or a random magic show put on by a fellow in an extremely wrinkly shirt.

    The sandwiches are too expensive.

Oasis.  So good.  Thank you whoever opened this place, it was nice to see when I was sooo desperately missing Seattle.  The boba tea needs some work, but the book selection, events, and website all great.

    Whoo-hoo for the Teapot!

Is there Wi-Fi... there should be if there is not.
