Saturday night dining in Lowville is tricky - at least 2 well-established restaurants in the village aren't even open. So when my family went  to TJs BBQ on Shady Ave, we didn't really know what to expect.
The restaurant itself is small - just 4 tables for in-house dining. The staff of 2 was extremely friendly and were excellent. Prices were slightly higher than a fast-food burger joint, but the quality was definitely a world above the Golden Arches.
The highlight of the menu is the 20 different varieties of burger. I sampled the Buffalo Burger - a beef burger slathered in buffalo-chicken-style sauce and bleu cheese crumbles. Very good, but I'm not sure that the buffalo sauce works with beef (chicken or pulled pork, yes; beef - the jury is leaning toward not). Portions were ample, fries were excellent. And just because I didn't become a fan of my particular burger choice doesn't mean I wouldn't go back to try any of the other 19 specialty varieties.
