Food was very good a combination of Tai Chinese and Sushi. Â Restaurant is clean and inviting. Â My only complaint was that service was slow, waiter didn't understand our needs and everything was slow our water, our tea, extra plates etc. Â but the food was hot and tasty, Â I'd go back.
Review Source:My first experience at Tony's was one that will keep me coming back. I wanted to check out the sushi happy hour (Monday to Friday from 3-5) during which every roll and sushi entree is 50% off.
When we first walked in, we were the only 2 in the place but slowly people started trickling in after us. Three pm is an awkward time and not everyone is home from work yet. We were immediately seated by our waiter Taylor who, throughout the time he served us, was attentive and timely.
The most expensive roll on the menu is $10 ($5 for happy hour) but most of the rolls ranged from $2.50 - $3.00. We ordered:
Alaskan Roll with salmon, avocado, and cucumber
2 Sweet Potato Roll
2 Spicy Crunchy Salmon Roll
Mixed Tuna Roll with tuna, asparagus, and caviar
Salmon Asparagus Roll with salmon, asparagus and spicy sauce
The rolls were all nicely made; only 2 fell apart. The rice seemed a little too sticky and (maybe?) overcooked but I'm no sushi expert or snob, and will take my sushi any way I can get it. All in all, we spent $26 including tax, an unbeatable price for the amount of rolls.
Used to go there but no more. They would have one price in the menu and then another price when you get the bill, which is always higher. Not cool. Despite telling them multiple times they keep charging the higher prices . No apologies. Never a smile. It's NOT a good dining experience. I stopped going there for over 2 years.
Review Source:The nail in the coffin.
Some friends very strenuously got me to go since we were all hungry and it was right up the road from our friends house. Food was alright, though I've never really had a problem there.
Fast forward a few weeks, more than half our party had parasites. The only common factor is Tonys. Will never be going back.
So we were super excited after reading all the reviews. We held out for an hour drive from Montauk to check this place out. First off the ambiance wasn't as amazing as described- definitely been in  better sushi settings. I ordered a sparkling water.  The waitress came back and said they had no small ones left and would a big one work, I said sure as I love spakling water- she brought back an unchilled
bottle with a cup of ice! A big no no. This totally defeats the purpose of sparkling water as the ice is not the high quality sparkling water I wanted and the fact that it wasn't chilled ruined the carbonation. She happily took it back upon my request. The service was definitely good and we gave a 20 percent tip. The sushi was just okay as I like my Philly rolls a certain way and it didn't meet my standards. I would say only go here if you are going to be getting the half price sushi because then I could easily see giving 4 or 5 stars- otherwise it's just another regular sushi place that deserves no special attention.
what happened to Tony's  It was a solid for the area but our dinner last night was inedible.
We had golden purses and steamed dumplings
The dumplings were thick with dough and nothing else
The golden purses were greasy and lack any flavor but potato
The waiter did not seem to notice that food was not being eaten
I ordered egg foo young and it was burnt. Â Why would anyone serve burnt egg foo young. Â It is inexpensive to make and quick. Â Of course they put the unburnt side up
The restaurant was not full so why
The general Tao chicken tasted like a bad chicken mcnugget. Â It was the first time my husband did not eat a dinner. Â He eats anything
My kids ordered sushi which was good  - to be fair
I am never going again  The kids can order their takeout sushi
Did they change ownership?
I went her with my momma for lunch. Chomp! It seems you can only get lunch specials during lunchtime; that was the only menu we received. :3 I had the intention of getting sushi anyway, so it was fwine. ^.^ I ordered two rolls (sweet potato and avocado+cucumber). It came with miso soup and a salad with a gingery sauce. :) The prefixes were a lot better than the sushi. :3 I was surprised! For the price, I got a lot of food, but I think I will actually head to Gourmet Garden for my sushi instead. The atmosphere here is definitely better, but you are also paying for it ;0)
Review Source:After nearly a decade of driving by and remarking in a strong Brooklyn/Italian accent, "Hey, I'm Tony! Â I'm gonna make you a sushi," we finally gave it a shot. Â I don't even like sushi, but I tasted some of the hubs' California and salmon rolls, which were good. Â The miso soup could have been warmer, but the tofu was actually a nice soft texture. Â The carrot ginger dressing had a lot of zing and freshness to it, which was nice on the salad. Â I had the chicken pad thai, also good and a huge serving. Â The sauce was different than I've usually had, redder, with sweeter notes to it. Â The lunch special prices are a great deal. Â Our waiter was pleasant, the food was timely and we weren't rushed, and it was nice in the sun watching the traffic out the big front window.
Review Source:I was a bit skeptical of a restaurant that tries to do Chinese, Japanese, and Thai food. Most similar Pan-Asian restaurants bite off more than they can chew and end up doing nothing well. Tony's is an exception to that rule.
Although most of it's success comes from liberal use of salt and oil, it is a step above it's local competitors. I had a Thai seafood dish - combining shrimp, scallops and lobster. The lobster was a bit chewy, but the seafood and veggies were all fresh of of better than expected quality. L. had mango chicken: the mango was bit underipe but still went well with jalapenos and onions. The edamame didn't disappoint either.
This is a very solid Long Island option. The service was bit lacking, and the price was a bit higher than I would like, but for the middle of nowhere, it is above par.
This is a mid point of three Tony's that I have been to. There are a few different versions and types and quality levels of Tony's restaurants. It's the same Tony. Like he once said to a friend... "Everybody know Tony". He's right... he's got all these different Tony's out here.
Tonys in Hampton Bays - 2 Stars  - Fast food version take out etc
Tonys in East Quogue - 5 Stars - if you get the filet / lobster hibachi and foo foo drinks - can have a nice dinner here. Service is super there.
This Tonys.. - 3 1/2 Â Stars - leaning closer to E. Quogue.. but not quite. Can have dinner.. but nothing to wow anyone aesthetically. Food is good.
This place offers Japanese, Thai and Chinese effortlessly and has lots of sushi being brough to the tables.. so its fresh. Service was good.
The food is good.. the duck sauce is heinous. Worse than those flavorless orange colored salty cornstarch packets. So if you like to order anything that requires this sauce.. ie: spareribs .. shrimp rolls anything.. this will undermine the food.
The girl at the takeout counter with the long hair is incredibly rude and hardly makes eye contact when ripping your credit card out of your hand to charge you. Also, I called to place an order once and was put on hold three times just to be given an attitude when I was finally addressed to place my order. The handful of times I dined in, the sushi was okay (in no way great - even King Kullen has mastered the spicy tuna roll), the soup had packaging paper in it once, and the scales were left on my fish once as well. The food isn't worth the cost, or the poor experience. Go to Gourmet Garden up the street instead!
Review Source:Great setting with great modern jazz music to match this lounge style restaurant. Â Service is fantastic as they are prompt yet non-intrusive. Â They should get rid of the TV as it does not match the otherwise perfect scene for a date night with the wife or meeting friends for dinner. Â The sushi and Thai food are very good and fresh. Â I eat at Asian Fusion Restaurants in NYC frequently and this place costs about the same which is a bit pricey considering it less than borders the Hamptons but it is worth it. Â I recommend this place to anyone that has a taste for Asian food. Â I have not been to the other locations in West Hampton and East Quogue but have heard they are just as good.
Review Source:Finally made it to this Tony's, a big space that took it over from Lou's Dugout and assorted others. Service was average for the fare and area, and the lady dragon roll was spectacular. Not cheap for dinner takeout or particularly quick even when not busy, but delicious enough. The sesame chicken was apparently also very good. Will come to dine in and/or for the lunch specials, and with coupons.
Review Source:Wifey got a 50$ certificate to Tony's for her Birthday. We finally got around to taking the trek to East Moriches. I was pleasantly surprised to see this joint is one I had passed a million times years ago as it was some other establishment during those previous years.
Another surprise was the ambiance of the place. Hip and cool aesthetics. A loungey feel along with some down tempo beats. I heard some Thievery Corporation and some Koop in the mix. 1/2 price sushi during happy hour... Score, Score and score.
Million Dollar Roll had lobster in it and that was amazing. Kappa Maki, Spicy Tuna, Phillie Roll. All amazingly good. Great ingredients we came at the right hour for the exceptional value. All 3 of us threw down and left full, no booze drinks, 67$.
Wifey and her friend kinda thought the waitresses were rude. I noticed the food came out quickly and my drink never sat unfilled so I had no complaints. Yes, I'd go back yes I'd tell you to go and i would pass a whole bunch of other Sushi joints to get there.
Easily some of the finest Asian cuisine on the eastern end of Long Island. I used to live across the street and filled my belly many a times there. I now live about 10 minutes from there and drive past many other places just for this food. Have been there with mi kids a few times and yes there is indeed a bathroom. Pretty cool one too!
Review Source:My wife and I ate at this restaurant for the first time today and we absolutely loved it. Â We've eaten at a lot of the Chinese restaurants in the area (a few of which do include sushi like Tonys), but none of them have such a varied menu like Tony's. Â The choices available, beyond the staple items like BBQ spareribs or egg rolls, really make this an outstanding restaurant. Â We had mango salad, miso soup, mochi ice cream (sticky rice ice cream), and some steamed dumplings with boneless BBQ ribs. Â They have a lot of healthier options, as well as vegetarian, but for those looking for regular Chinese food their dumplings and boneless BBQ spare ribs were some of the best I've ever had.
Service was quick and very pleasant. Â A big thing for me, though it is a particular measurement, is how often the person serving us replaces my water since I drink a ton. Â I had plenty of water and didn't have to ask the waitress, just had to say yes when she asked. Â We went around lunchtime on a Sunday so we had the restaurant nearly to ourselves. Â Everything came out fresh and hot. Â As another review stated, the atmosphere is great. Â Even the flatware they use demonstrates that this is a classier restaurant than the majority of places in this area.
The prices may seem a little high for some of the dishes, but the lunch specials were moderately priced. Â Dinner menu items seemed to hover in the 15-20 dollar range, but that really depends on what you want to eat since they have a huge selection of options. Â We don't drink alcohol, but I did notice that they had Japanese beer as well as an assortment of wines. Â Can't comment on the quality, I was just impressed by what was available.
Take-out prices were in line with the prices for the other restaurants we've used over the years. Â The sushi in particular was no more or less expensive than any of the other restaurants we frequent in Shirley, Center Moriches, or elsewhere.
They absolutely do have a bathroom, nothing to worry about there. Â I also thought that there was plenty of parking in the rear of the establishment, though we did good at a slower time.
