I'm glad we finally have a venue that can bring in nationally touring acts that is relatively close to where I live in North Georgia.  Usually folks bypassed Chattanooga for Atlanta, Knoxville & Nashville, but now we get lucky enough to get some great national acts.  I have seen Robert Earl Keen, Leftover Salmon, Here Come the Mummies, & Warren Haynes.  And while I don't dig the following artists it is a testament to the hard work of the folks running Track 29 that the Avett Brothers, Jack White and Bass Nectar have played the venue.

I've seen complaints about the fact that it used to be a roller rink and that it is flat and maybe doesn't have the best acoustics, but I used to live in Atlanta where any venue that brought in national acts charged 7 to 10 dollars for a beer (5 bucks for a craft beer at track 29) and also charged 5-15 dollars for parking (2-3 bucks at track 29).  You also had to deal with Atlanta traffic and while most pan handler were usually affable sometimes you had to deal with an aggressive street person.  Also throw in the cheapest accommodations in Atlanta are at least 150.00 bucks!

Track 29 is walking distance to a cheap hostel, several solid restaurants and isn't far from the free Carta shuttle line.  A cab ride after the show to most local hotels is going to run you less than 20 bucks.  So I will be more forgiving of this place.  Here is hoping they continue to draw good music.  Oh, and they periodically have local talent show cases which is a benefit as well.

This place is a former ice skating facility.  Building is about 40 years old and looks it.  It is a good size to bring in bands that might not be a big enough draw for the larger facilities in town.  But the place itself is depressing to me.  It is like watching a concert in a high school gym.

I also do not think that visitors to the Chattanooga Choo Choo should have to do battle with the traffic created by Track 29.

Great to have a venue bringing in quality bands. LOVE their food truck presence during shows! Smoking is outside. Friendly staff. Overall great addition to the music scene. Keep up the good work!
