Wow, I can stop looking for the best burger around, well I really won't stop looking but the burgers at Tremont Tavern are now number one on my list. Â A buddy of mine and I were in Chattanooga for mountain biking and we originally stopped here for a beer but decided I was hungry too. Â I had the Tavern Burger, fries and a salad. Â The first bite got me - boom. Â My poor friend had filled up on fast food on the drive in and was still too full...poor guy. Â Five stars for the burger, friendly staff, friendly patrons, nice neighborhood bar. Â I will be back.
Review Source:The burgers here are the best I've ever had. Â Overall, this is a great place that is worth checking out. Â I take a lot of my out of town friends here and there have never been a complaint. Â Everything is reasonable priced and has a great local vibe.
The only "downside" , but if there is one way to see the quality, is that this place is never empty. Â Not matter what day or what time I go, it is packed. Â It's no secret that Tremont is awesome.
This is one of my co-workers' favorite places to go for lunch, and it's definitely become one of mine too. The food here is SO. GOOD. I've gotten the homemade black bean burger (just the right amount of spiciness, even though it does start to fall apart) and the portobello wrap and both were freaking delicious.
Oh, and the tater tots are done absolutely perfectly. I can never stop eating them!
If I am having a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon sans kids I will invariably wind up on a stool at the Tremont Tavern. Â It is located in an old building off Hixson pike and from the outside looks wholly unremarkable; however, on entering you are welcomed by a traditional U shaped dark wooden bar surrounded by barstools. Â The walls are covered with beer ads and banners for futbol clubs. I have a fondness for these types places that somehow encourage you to talk with someone you don't know while you enjoy a craft beer.
And that is another great thing: the beer. Â They have a rotating selection of craft beers from all over and thankfully they carry beer from around here made at the Chattanooga Brewing Company. Â If you don't like what is offered on draft you will surely find something you like in a can/bottle. Â If you are budget minded they have a kegerator of Coors Light. Â A chalkboard on the wall when you enter will list all the beers on tap and the specials.
As for the food, everything I have had from the burgers to wings has been top notch. Â The burgers are my favorite in Chattanooga and my guilty pleasure side is the tater tots. Â I usually don't eat much starchy food, but I can't resists those little golden brown lumps of joy. Â The wings are tasty but make no mistake they are hot so make sure you have either A. beer in hand or B. glass of sweet tea to drink because you are going to need it! Â The menu is simple, but that isn't a bad thing. Â I'd rather eat somewhere that does a few things really well rather than a bunch of things rather poorly. Â Lastly, on food, look at the specials. Â There are a rotating selection of soups that are stellar.
If I had any complaints it would be in regard to their success. Â If you go in the evenings the place is covered up with people. Â It is almost impossible to get through the scrum to get a seat at the bar or a table. Â That being said if you prefer a couple of pints in the afternoon with a moderate crowd then you can't go wrong with Tremont! Â It is also NON-SMOKING!
There are a few things going for this place. They've got local, semi-local, and non-local beers, decent bar food, and some fun nights like trivia Mondays. They also have a chug club where they keep track of their 60 beers and how many ya drank. Space is a little tight, but you can usually get a table on weeknights.
Review Source:If you are looking for a tavern the locals claim as their own, this is the place. Â Tremont has a huge bottled beer selection, with about 15-20 draft selections. Â The food is great! Â The tavern burger is always a winner; add your favorite cheese like gouda, muenster, or swiss and enjoy. Â
Every night there is a special going on: Â Monday - Trivia, Tuesday - Open Mic, Wednesday - Beer Tasting (Free Beer!), Thursday - Burger and Beer special, Friday Pint Specials, Saturday and Sunday - Specials vary based on events, but always live local music.
The staff is very personable and inviting. Â They all make an attempt to know your name and what you like to drink. Â
If you are looking for a nice place to relax, enjoy a cold beer, and meet up with some friends, this place is ideal.
Did I mention it is SMOKE FREE! Â how wonderful!
I ended up at this cozy pub on a Friday night and had a wonderful time. We didn't stay very long, but I was really impressed with the large beer selection. There was a good crowd and the staff was very friendly and super efficient. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Chattanooga!
