Came to this place from a recommendation from a friend as a place that supports local food. Â It's 5 miles off the highway so would never have found it.
This place was very open and quiet. Â Tables were all types of different dining tables, ones you might find in your house, which made for a very cozy feel.
Most of the food items were organic. Â Many baked goods including bread made daily. Â I went with the Italian Stallion sandwich. Â I love fresh bread. Â It just has a certain taste you'll never get from the grocery store. Â The dressing for the sandwich was especially tasty.
Really a gem of a fund and a nice alternative to fast food if you're on the road. Â Will be sure to eat here again next time I drive through.
The food was enjoyable, but the young lady working at the front counter bordered on rude. I was frustrated by her complete lack of kindness. No hint of a smile, and she was terse with both me and the customer in front of me. I don't expect everyone to be brimming with southern gentility, but she seemed to be bothered to have customers to serve. Toward the end of my visit, I encountered a different lady (I got the vibe that she may be the owner, but I don't know) who made me feel welcome there, which was nice. This may be expecting too much or reading into things too much, but I like to frequent the sorts of locally owned places who buy locally sourced food because I like to think that we care about our communities and want to enhance our sense of community. I'd like to see just a teensy, teensy bit of that vibe from the person serving me my food. Again, though, the food was tasty, and I hope when I make it through Monticello again the cashier is in a better mood so I don't feel like I'm a thorn in her side.
