We checked out THBC last night for the first time. When we walked in I was so impressed at the restorations of the barn! The place looks great!! Really lovely antique/rustic touches everywhere. Definitely a great fit for the Bloomsburg crowd-not stuffy, not pretentious, but definitely a styled interior that I haven't found elsewhere in the area. You could drop THBC into any urban, trendy neighborhood, and it would put most of the competition to shame.

Unfortunately, the effort they put into the restoration didn't translate into the quantity of the food. We ordered the potato soup. I believe this is a dish they're known for, but it seemed pretty run of the mill at best. Not a lot of flavor, and it seemed a little thick....like it had maybe been sitting for awhile but not inedible. Then came the curried shrimp flatbread pizza. The dough leaves much to be desired. I would guess that the crust is purchased and not made in-house. Almost a gummy tortilla like crust. Tasteless overall-which is weird because it has such a flavorful name. Shouldn't a curried shrimp flatbread pizza be anything but boring? The 'shroom burger was delish. Cooked to a perfect medium, lots of flavor. The "premium" fries were most definitely sitting under a heat lamp all day. They were hard as a rock all the way through. We asked for fresh fries and our very sweet server attempted to correct the situation. Unfortunately, it was the end of the night, so the kitchen wasn't making a fresh batch for us.....she did offer to comp my beverage. At least 3 more plates came out of the kitchen with fries, so it seems they don't have a problem serving sub par food to their paying customers. We will come back for the atmosphere and drinks, but I'll avoid eating here again. For a place that prides themselves in local, high quality dishes, I was not impressed with what they delivered.

Had a quick dinner with my better half yesterday.  I've been hearing great things about Turkey Hill Inn for many years and just recently realized they've built a brewery/pub.  Having a degree in brewing science and engineering, I'm not going to go into any great detail on the quality and selection of the beers being produced in the brewery.  I did order their 6 beer sampler to get an idea of the level of brewing being done.  Very quick and to the point: average beers being produced.  No huge flaws in anything I tasted, but no real standouts either.
For dinner we ordered shrimp breaded in panko and fried.  Served with a sweet chili sauce, it was a very good app.  Obviously not pulled from a freezer.  I would order it again. Entrees were the chicken pot pie and the flat iron steak.  The chicken pot pie was excellent in every way buy one.  Someone in the kitchen was very heavy handed with the sage.  The flaky puff pastry and moist chunks of chicken saved the day.
The steak was spot on.  The marinade was tasty and not overbearing and done t a perfect medium rare.  Nice mushroom sauce a good homemade mashed.  Highly recommended.
I look forward to a return visit.
