I am giving a four only because I didn't like our waiter. He wasn't mean or horrible, he just seemed snobby or something. They have the best martinis in town, hence the martini bar part. I got the special, Smoked Gouda Chicken, had to come back again that week just so I could get it again before it was gone.
Review Source:They have a great happy hour, its daily from 3-6 and 9-close. The dinner selection isn't great for vegetarians, so my review is based on happy hour since that's normally when we go. The happy hour menu is pretty decent, that is the main reason we go there. The fries with gorgonzola cheese are guiltily delicious and the hummus plate is pretty standard. We go there if we want a drink and snack and want to avoid downtown, it does the job. I can't have more than one or two drinks because simple syrup is always poured so heavily - that is my main complaint. But you can't beat the price. The atmosphere is nice and the staff is always friendly.
Review Source:There are not a lot of options here for vegetarians, and the salad I got turned out to be overpriced for the disappointing quality.
Here, you are paying for aesthetic appearances, and that's about all you're getting. This place looks a lot nicer than it is, and is too expensive for something you probably could've made at home.
PS: good luck seeing your food if you come at night.
If I had the option to give zero stars I would pick that. Birthday dinner was ruined.
My mother and daughter ordered dinner and let the waitress know I was running late. They brought dinner out and the waitress said she would heat mine when I got there as my daughter and I were splitting a meal. I got there and sat for at least 20 minutes with no waitress in sight. The rest of my family finished and I guess she expected me to sit and eat by myself because she finally showed and offered to heat my meal. I declined and asked for to go boxes. She brought one small box which I guess was supposed to hold my steak and potatoes and throw my wilty salad in on top. My daughter had to go get another box.
We went to eat the cake that my daughter had spent hours making and they informed her at the end of dinner that we couldn't eat it there because of health regulations. They could have told them at the beginning so it didn't sit in the sun and get ruined.
I asked to speak to the manager and told him the above story and the reply I got was "well what do you want me to do?" That's why you are the manager. FIX IT!!! I got no offer for a replacement meal, refund on my ticket... NOTHING!!
This is the second chance I've given this place and it's been terrible both times. Very sad and disappointed. Could have had a better birthday dinner at a fast food place.
Friendly servers. Very nice happy hour!!
Pulled pork tacos (A MUST)
Margarita Pizza..... (ANOTHER MUST)
Loved the atmosphere! The servers I personally had were great - went above and beyond for the kiddos I had with me :)
Recommend if you're in the South Hill area - this is a great stop for Happy hour!
Pros: Very nice atmosphere and aesthetically pleasing.
Cons: Everything else. The food was not anything special. The panini was amateur at best and the service slacked for how nice the place looked. The service was so poor I had to actually ask them if they forgot about our drinks.
Overall: Food is very overpriced for the cost and the service was very poor. The place does look like nice but everything lacked so much I am going to give this only a 1 star.
I went to Twigs for lunch and was very happy with the experience. It was nice and quiet. Only a few other tables had people.
We ordered the calamari appetizer and wow, it was delicious. Tasted very fresh and went perfectly with the lemon garlic aioli. Sometimes calamari can be chewy if they're not prepared well, this was perfect.
For my main I had their signature burger. It was wonderful. The fries were delicious and well seasoned. The burger was on a delicious home-made bun. I would highly recommend ordering it. I had a hard time choosing my meal. So many things on the menu sounded so good. I'll definitely have to return to try something else.
Also, our waiter was very friendly and attentive.
I see no reason why I wouldn't go to Twigs again.
Boo, Twigs. You are off the list for future visits to Spokane. Went there for lunch and was beyond disappointed. Service was bad, but the food was even worse. It's like they have seriously downgraded their ingredients.
I ordered the beet salad. The beets weren't remotely cooked enough and tasted gross. The lettuce (I can't believe I'm complaining about the lettuce!) was tough and tasted bad. It's like they used only the rough outer romaine leaves that most people would throw out. The soup was so salty that it had to be sent back. The pork sandwich had canned pineapple rings.
Too bad. I used to like this place, but no more, at least for meals. I still might give it a try for drinks and apps, but I'm not optimistic.
Twigs has really good Martinis, but they are all ten dollars a piece. Â Even at happy hour they barely cut you a break. Â The food is good, not great. Â For the money they charge it should be great to excellent. Â My wife bought an expensive salad and the tomatoes were frozen. Â For a "high end" joint like this that is unacceptable. Â This sort of thing has happened to me more than once at Twigs.
That being said, the ambiance is good for a date. Â In a way your paying for the expensive building and nice surroundings. Â The food isn't bad by any means. Â They excell with some of there appetizers. Â So it does work for a place to meet before going out or to a movie. Â Go somewhere else for the main event though in my opinion.
Ehhhh . . . I don't know how I feel about this place to be quite honest. The food was pretty good and so was the service and everything, but I don't know. There was just something about my Twigs experience that I didn't quite like. I can't put my finger on it.
My sister and I shared their kahlua sandwich . . . It wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worse. At the same time, of all the KALUA sandwiches I've indulged in, this is definitely one that I wouldn't want to indulge in again because I have had WAY better. Instead of using bbq sauce, they used teriyaki sauce . . . Which made the kalua taste very different as compared to other sandwiches that use bbq sauce. Maybe that's what made the world of difference.
We also got fries with it . . . Which . . . Ehhhh . . . Definitely could have been a lot better as well. They looked like they were going to be killahs, but they weren't! :( They were hard, spicy!, and did I mention hard? They tasted pretty good, but they were hard, which definitely isn't something anyone likes in their french fries. At the same time, the spiciness definitely threw us (me, my sister, and her friend) off.
The service was pretty good . . . Our server split up our tabs, as well as our plate, and was there often enough to quickly refill our drinks. She wasn't pushy and was very helpful.
I honestly, do not know what it was about this place that I didn't really like, but for now, until I have more Twigs experiences, Spokane's Twigs Bistro and Martini Bar receives three stars on my rating.
Overall, I would recommend this place.
I have been in Spokane for almost 5 years now and have been to all 3 Twigs multiple times. Â Its frustration that prompts me to write this review. Â In a nutshell, the food and drinks at best are mediocre, the service is consistently abysmal and its overpriced for what finally comes out of the kitchen. Â
Its the decor that draws you in. Â All 3 locations are beautifully designed but the effort on part of the management stops there. Â
Here are a couple examples from my personal experience. Â
Father's day breakfast with another family and 3 young children. Â Northside location (place 30% full with diners at the time): Â 45 minutes for the children to get their milk. Â At 60 minutes we got up and helped ourselves to coffee at the wait staff station. Â 90 minutes we got our eggs.
Two years later, same location. Â This time I am smart, I made reservations for 11am. Â Showed up, again place is not even half full. Â Greeter tells me they won't have a table for 30 minutes. Â I try my best to very politely explain the definition of a reservation to them (mind you no one else is in the area is waiting for a table, just my party), we leave and eat at a diner.
One time I went to a business meeting/dinner on the south hill location. Â I am happy to say, food was excellent and service was excellent (stick to the south hill location where there appears to be a manager and training for the staff).
More recently, took the wife to the northside location again after about a year. Â Ordered drinks and Gorgonzola fries outside. Â Wait staff brought my wife a drink in a broken glass, sat us at a dirty sticky table and after bringing fries and cream of chicken soup (which had the faintest hint of Gorgonzola) fry sauce, left us with no napkins, flat ware or plates never to be seen again for 30 minutes. Â The Gorganzola sauce to be fair used to be excellent. Â Apparently they couldn't hold on to the dream. Â
My advice... go to the Stixx location on Nevada, its like Twigs with service, decent food and realistic prices.
went in about 245 pm for a afternoon nosh with the sis while visiting spokane we had the seared tuna w/ a tomato compote  and the mezza plate which had  hummus which was a little dry tapenade and more tomato compote all and all the apps were decent the service was slow and and fairly non attentive ........so i wanted to love this place i went to the north spokane locale as well  a few days latter and had the procutto pizza it was good service once again was very slow and i had the worst arnold palmer ever made .........
Review Source:After going there probably a dozen or more times hoping that this time I will order the "right thing". I have discovered it doesn't really exist. The best thing on the menu are there fries with a Gorgonzola cheese sauce and even those leave something to be desired.
Their menu is well put together but, the execution is terrible. Nothing ever tastes as good as it should (or good at all) based what you would imagine given the ingredients.
The martinis are just okay. When ever I have one there I am reminded of a better version of the same drink I could be having at Bistango across the street.
The atmosphere is nice and inviting, but that is about all they do right.
Love Twigs for dinner and drinks. This location has a ton more seating than down town so if you are going on a busy night you might want to try here. Drinks are great and there is a huge specialty drink list. I love their steak sandwich and they have a really good steak salad as well. They would get a fifth star but I think the drinks are a little overpriced for the market.
Review Source:This place is very moderately priced for the quality of food and service you get. Â They always have something new on their menu and a huge variety of flavors. Â As far as food in Spokane goes, this place is great. Â Get the steak salad, and make sure to try one of their MANY great martinis. Â Sticky Cookie for desert FOR SURE (One of the best desserts I've ever had!)
Review Source:Just drink martinis. Â If you don't drink, the food is good, but that is not the point of this place. Â
Caveat: if you drink martinis and you don't LOVE sweet ones, ask for them to make it less sweet. Â The day bartender, Bill, makes them great. Â Again - why are people drinking martinis during the day? Â Ladies who lunch. Â Also great in the summer on the patio!
Food: any pizza, steak salad, mushroom stuffed flatbread app. Â Calimari and mezza plate are good happy hour choices. Â I hate blue cheese type things, but there is also something special about the gorgonzola fries. Â Overall, a good choice if you are looking for a nicer restaurant on the hill to hang out and have some drinks.
Twigs has a nice atmosphere, creative and delicious cocktails, and good appetizers. Â It's a great place to meet up with the girls after work and have a drink and share a small plate before heading home or as a launching point for a big night out. Â I recommend the Moroccan beef, the hummus, the bleu cheese fries, and the steamed clams for apps.
The actual entrees at Twigs are overpriced and not great. Â Stick to drinks and appetizers and you will be much happier.
Just a note on geography, I think the Wandermere and South Hill locations are better than downtown if you are looking to eat, but downtown is better for people watching.
Oh Twigs, it appears you "have fallen and can't get up."
Twigs, like many of Spokane's restaurants suffer seriously from lack of consistency. We started going to the original twigs on Nevada and at first liked it, actually like it a lot, became regulars, martini cards in hand. But, there is always a but, the food went downhill, dishes that we had in the past didn't look or taste the same, meat was over-cooked or undercooked, and this happen on three separate occasions, so we left and didn't look back.
Over two years later had a business dinner at the south hill location and was impressed again, we were upstairs in a private room, service was good, drinks were good and the food was good, nobody in party of 25 had any complaints.
Had they gotten their act together, we though so, so we returned as a couple about a month later and deju vu hit us, the food was insipid, one meal chicken was served raw and the other was severely overcooked, service horribly slow and we had one of the most inept servers ever who screwed up almost every part of the meal. Scratch that location off the list.
We then decided to try the new Wandemere location, we gave it 7 months to work the kinks out and we walked in with eager anticipation. The designer should be shot, parking was abysmal, and the restaurant looked modern but had no sound absorption material of any type. It was loud, so loud we had to YELL our order to the server. It reminded me of eating in night club and dinner conversation was virtually impossible.
We ordered a cocktail and was never offered anything else to drink, the appetizer took almost 25 minutes to come and then as it was placed on our table another server showed up, right behind that food runner and placed our entrees on the table. So we were sitting with an appetizer, and two entrees, but never got a salad that we had also ordered. Interestingly enough the server showed back up and said "WOW, you got your entrees already do you want anything else."
So the timing of the food was horrific, we never got our dinner salads, the server never offered another cocktail or to refill a empty water glass, the appetizer was okay but very small for the price, the entrees were below average and to top it off the server just dropped the bill on the table while were eating and didn't say anything.
Bottom Line: It will be a long time before we return to Twigs, too bad, it could be a good local concept.
I went on a Saturday lunch date here and I had a great time. Â The exterior of the building is a little deceiving because it looks sort of like a strip mall but inside is pretty cool. Â The interior design consist of dark woor colors, a lot of red accent color, and of course all the wine racks. Â On the menu, you'll get a plenty of selection on martinis. Â Since it was a lunch date we stuck with a strawberry lemonade and a beer. Â I ordered a Jerk Steak Pizza which was very very good. Â It seemed empty at the time but I could see how it could get crowded in the evenings with a good size bar.
Review Source:My year in Spokane can be boiled down to models of basswood & chipboard, countless hours staring at the crimson accent wall in my apartment and having escaped from both for Martinis at Twigs.
A warm place on the South Hill, the initial atmosphere encountered is almost a cliché Mediterranean setting.  However upon being drawn in to the cozy interior one finds a more classically contemporary dining room to have a drink or a meal with a date or a group of friends.  On warm summer nights the patio is a welcome spot to relax and catch some sun. Â
I've never got past the Spinach Salad as a main dish here, and an appetizer of the signature fries split amongst friend during happy hour are a nice premise to your evening. Â
Of course, as the bistro's name implies, it's really about the tini's here. Â While classic cosmos, appletini's and razitini's are beautifully executed the menu of 36 varieties include a few other favorites like pomegranate and key lime. Â
If you're looking for a bit of class and wanting to get away from the tired and stuffy environments you really must try here. Â
I miss Twigs, but the crimson wall? Not so much.
I've had good service every time I've been at Twigs on both South Hill and Downtown. The gorgonzola sauce with fries is delicious! Happy hour is 3-6 and 9-close they have $1 off wells, martinis & drafts & a few good food deals. My favorite is the Twigs gin martini with blue cheese olives (be warned it's strong drink!)
Review Source:The service is just so so and sometimes even bad. Â Okay I said it.
I've been a big Twigs fan since there was only one location. Â Some tasty food (I don't need to see a menu ) and the I adore the decor. Â Due to the food and atmosphere (great patio) I keep giving them ONE more chance. Â But its really hit and miss for service. Mostly miss.
After reading some of the reviews of this place I decided to try it out with a friend of mine visiting from the east coast. After driving quite a bit I was in somewhat of a bad mood on arrival. I already had a bad feeling about the visit before I even stepped foot in the door.
Fortunately they had a fireplace and it didn't look like every other midrange restaurant ever built. This was a delightful surprise. My partner in crime also enjoyed the decor, seats at the non-booths were weird but comfortable. All the brown made me sleepy (completely irrelevant? sure).
We were taken care of fairly quickly and our food came out quick. Waiter was pretty cold however, I'm not even sure he smiled. That's fine though everyone has bad days. Â My friend got some sort of Salmon and I'll assume it was excellent considering I didn't hear another word from her until she cleaned her plate. I got a blackened chicken sandwich that was pretty good, the fries made it even better. I'm sorry I didn't get to try one of their Martinis as I've read they're pretty good.
I'd definitely come back.
This is my favorite place to eat in Spokane. Â Hands down. Â I always order the Insalata Mista with salmon...it's delicious. Â I've also had the steak and caesar salad as well and they are equally wonderful.
We'll occasionally order the Twigs Mezza, which is a platter of pita bread, hummus and other yummy toppings. Â We've ordered the quesadilla several times as well. Â Everything that I've had here is fantastic. Â
The atmosphere is very cool without being pretentious and the serving staff is prompt, happy and helpful.
I don't remember which Twigs I ate at while on a trip to Spokane - South Hill? Anyway, we went for breakfast on a Sunday and it seemed that it was the place for people to go after church, which meant that we had an 18 top and 6 top in front of us and the food was really, really late. Our waitress was obviously not happy about it, and while she did give us free desserts to say sorry, I still felt almost completely ignored despite the restaurant not really being full. The food sounds good on the menu, but my classic eggs and hash browns breakfast was just average. My friends mimosas were 'icky' and 'obviously from concentrate.' If there is a next time? Not on a Sunday, and skip to dessert.
Review Source:OMG Twigs! Never heard of it until I visited Spokane. It is such a cool place. I can't really compare it to anything in CA, it's just that cool.
I had a mojito and it was great. Served in a regular soda glass (BIG) with crushed ice (slushie style!). Food is always good too, especially salads and sandwiches.
Yay!
This has become my favorite spot (all three locations are great). Â They have a good variety on the food menu and my wife loves the 'Tini options. Â The decor is fun and trendy whether in the dining room or sitting in the "bar". Â And during the summer try to get a table outside.
The Mongolian Beef appetizer is unreal (a little too spicy for some people), and we love sharing a couple of pizzas. Â Get anything that has the melted gorgonzola and you'll be glad you did. Â Well, unless you really don't like cheese. Â That would be odd. Â Anyway, my oldest daughter loves this place, too (she's 14). Â Almost, or as important as the food, the service is always fabulous. Â
If you haven't been you have to try this place. Â It is another example of how Spokane is growing up!
