We were here two years ago and I think it has gotten better since then, maybe new owners.
We had two bowls of the chowder and the Fish and Chips. Â I also tried the local IPA. Â We were very happy how well each tasted and the prices are reasonable.
Only complaint would be that it was a beautiful 70 degrees out and we wanted to be outside. Â Unfortunetly, everyone else did as well. Â Then we asked if we could move a table outside of the chained area, and were told no. Â So most of us shared the benches and tried to eat the best we could. Â Hell, we all know it's hard to find a sunny day in Oregon, even more so on the coast.
My husband and I love this pub!
We think this is the best bar in town.
Drinks are always great! Actually, they make  really great drinks!!
Love  the beer choices too.....so many great ones to choose from .
" The beer aficionado would be right at home here!" - DP :) Â
Everytime we go to U Street Pub, the atmosphere is welcoming, friendly and fun!
The food is very delicious too! The French Dip is incredible! And the Spinach salad w/chicken is our favorite. Â
There is plenty of parking along U Street and it is short walk  to the beach.
We highly recommend enjoying Seaside here!!
After three attempts to eat here, the three of us dined on a Thursday for a late lunch. Silly me, winter means places are closed Monday, Tuesday and sometimes Wednesday.. The place was empty, except for two other couples. We sat at a sticky table and waited. And waited. The music is almost too loud to carry on a conversation. But maybe i'm just cranky in my old age, but it was irratating. Finally we ordered drinks ... And waited. Â We ordered steamers, which were flavorful but over salted... Seawater salty. Something so flavorful ruined by an over zealous handful of salt, shameful. Two of us ordered shrimp porboy's and the smoked brisket and shrimp sandwiches were delivered . Huh?!? Yeah, that's what we thought. We talked about the beef , but difinately ordered shrimp, so we settled on a half and half sandwich. No sorry, oops, kiss-my-ass... Wait maybe it was kma...we ate what was delivered. Shrimp sandwich was tastey, Â the smoked brisket, transported me instantly to Cave Creek Arizona, Fantastic. Yeah I would order that again with a glass of red. Business takes me to this end of town and I will stop again. Â Service or lack of and the great food don't quite meld. Be attentive people and wait on me people!! I am paying your bills!!! Â the sign at the door sums it up "tsunami zone run like hell".. Straight forward and honest, just like the food. Happy, happy taste buds.
Review Source:I lived across the street from this establishment for a few years. I finally mustered courage to dine at the U Street Pub & Eatery one evening. My general rule of thumb is that if I can cook whatever I order better than _chef_ on duty, I don't return. Well, my first dine was decent--nothing extravagant. I had a hamburger, but wasn't all that impressed. I decided to give it another try, and later went back for the so-call Rubenized Sandwich. The first time I was actually impressed, although the swapping of Thousand Island Dressing for homemade Russian Dressing was a poor decision. I decided to go back for another Rubenized experience several weeks later. Yuck. The chess was running off the side of the bread, and over grilled. The bread was soggy and disgusting. I felt like Gordan Ramsay, saying, "Damn, this is disgusting dog-food."
Let's hope the chef puts some pride in his cooking--and has enough passion to whip up a homemade Russian Dressing Recipe.
I do give it two stars, for the beer on-tap is usually a decent selection.
We stopped here with the kids in tow for dinner. Â The food was tasty and delivered quickly. Â They appeared to be understaffed, so the service was slow and thin. Â It took 15 minutes to get a refill on water after one reminder. Â *shrug* Â They were pretty busy.
The fish and chips were battered with a light crispy batter that was tasty. Â Great crispy steak fries and a yummy french dip. Â The chowder was accompanied by a pretty oily hotdog/hoagie roll. ..not even the kids would eat the roll. Â I didn't enjoy the chowder, but my other half liked it ok. Â On a high note, they have a great selection of beers on tap and by the bottle. Â I can definitely see this pub taking off once the food has been fine-tuned a bit more. Â Definitely, worth checking out.
They have an outdoor patio and indoor table & booth seating. Â This is a great casual place to grab a bite.
Just ducked in for late lunch after a full day on the beach. Â "u" street pub south side of seaside was nice and not crowded. Nice outside seating too. Nice craft beer selection along with butcher paper for kids to color. Let's just say the chowder was so so good! Â Better than we had in Newport. More flavor, I think bacon!!! Â Onion and lots of clams. Â Nice grilled cheese and kids selection. Hubs had fried clams that we're big and fresh and non greasy. Â Nice folks and owner. Â Well worth the trip!
Review Source:BEST burgers in town. Â Tasty, plenty of extras, delicious. Â Service is fabulous, very relaxed atmosphere. Â You can eat indoors or out. Â The ocean is a couple of blocks away and you can hear the waves! Â Lots of regulars seem to go there which is a good sign. Â The fries were OUT OF THIS WORLD...beer battered and fried crispy. Â Just the right way! Â Highly recommend this little gem of a restaurant. Fabulous! Love the additional menu items with the new owner's influence!!!
Review Source:We were at Seaside this past weekend and had a bad experience at a restaurant the night before. We were sorely in need of a good meal. Interesting ambience, kind of reminded me of a mexican restaurant, smallish place, not a whole lot of seating, but the patio outside looked nice for better weather. Great beers on tap. Menu is average size, heavy on sandwiches actually. We all ordered a sandwich of some kind and the kids had hot dogs. When I asked for my shrimp po boy spicy mayo on the side, the server (I think she may have been the owner) mumbled something about, well that won't be a sandwich then, but whatever. I was a little off-put by that, so until the food came, I was a little leary about the food and her attitude. Then my shrimp po boy came and that woman could have smacked me on the head and called me Bruce as long as she didn't kick me out because this sandwich is the stuff dreams are made of. Perfectly seasoned and delicately cooked shrimp on a toasty roll with cabbage and the mayo, I should have listened to her because I just dumped it all on there after I tasted it. Calories be damned. The rest of the table enjoyed their sandwiches but not nearly as much as I did. They wanted a bite and seriously, I said NO. YUM.
Review Source:I would give this place 3.5 stars if there was such a thing. This pub is across the street from our hotel on the "quiet" side of town and is a nice change from the madness of the strip. I ordered the spicy steamed muscles and althought they were not spicy, they were delicious. Small, but carefully selected craft brew selection is available and kids are welcome until 9 or so. My daughter ordered the ceaser salad and it was very overdressed and didn't really taste like a traditional ceasar dressing so she wouldn't eat it. Hamburgers looked good and there were no complaints or compliments. The atmosphere is very nice - rustic. Prices were OK - not a good deal, not highway robbery. The menu is small, but food was good and service was good too so I would probably go here again, but perhaps not with the kids.
Review Source:As a "local" here on the Oregon Coast, I usually try to avoid the touristy areas that surround us. I understand that we need the tourist trade to keep our economy alive and well here, but there are times that I just don't want to deal with some of the "wonderful" people that grace us with their presence.  Don't get me wrong, there are some nice folks that pop in and visit, but there are some that thankfully are easily identified by their dress (Seaside Life Guard Tee-Shirts, flip flops on a 45 degree day, etc.), their behaviours (aggressive driving, ignoring speed limits, throwing on their brakes in the middle of Hwy 101 to look at the ocean, loud, messy, and obnoxious children, including all within a 40 mile radius in their cell phone conversations, leaving their graffiti from their "hood" on our lavatory walls, impeding the sidewalks as they stop in the middle to pose for their "Jersey Shore Pose" , etc.), their vehicles of choice (giant RV's towing SUV's that create havoc at our filling stations as they attempt to utilize their "NASCAR Skillz" or Yuptard Entitlement  to get up to the pumps damning all who are in their way or who were there first waiting) that just make locals like myself pray for winter so we can have our towns back.
The other day, while in pursuit of a good meal, my vehicle hit a slick of moss and flung us down one of the lesser traveled roads of Seaside. Stunned, dazed, confused, fearing an attack of sticky handed tourists with their cotton candy batons, we sought refuge in this quaint little place called The U Street Pub & Eatery. Â We are damn glad that we found The U Street Pub and its awesome owner Teri!
Let it be known that I am from Ireland, and while you Pacific Northwesters may know your coffee, we know our tea. Â Hence why I am sure on first take, Teri must have thought "oh, crap, another picky pain in the ass tourist from Portland is here!!" when I began to query her about the iced tea they served. We Irish folks are an odd lot, especially if we are expecting tea (fresh, strong, made with real tea) and we are served that glorified Kool Aide with a hint of passion fruit, and who knows what else. If I want kiddie punch disguised as tea, I will go to a party with the little darlings...when I want tea, I want hot water, real tea, followed by ice and a boat load of sugar. Â Pretty simple. Teri and U Street has damn fine real tea.
Now onto the food. THE BEST CLAM CHOWDER THAT I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Â I have had a lot of clam chowder all over the coasts of the world, and U Street's is perfection. Perfectly blended base with lots of flavour (green onions are a nice touch), lots of meaty clams, and just enough potatoes to keep the Irish happy. Served with a generous amount of toasted buttered roll for a great price. That "other place" that says they have the world's best clam chowder that rhymes with "Moe's", should be ashamed of themselves. The chowder was perfectly seasoned and very rich.
My partner and I both had the clam strips and chips. Freshly battered meaty clams with crisp beer battered chips made this a great meal. There should be laws here on the Oregon Coast to punish places that serve the quick pack frozen clams that one can buy at the grocery market. It is sad that so many serve this crap and call it quality. U Street's freshness and quality is top notch, and puts most of the other eateries to shame.
Something not on the menu that I have to give a positive rating is the owner, Teri.  It is refreshing to see an owner that cares in this market. Teri and her wicked sense of humour is such a breath of fresh air in an industry that has become so disconnected from its consumers.  Teri is a realist and a class act  that actually gives a damn about the service, the quality of the food, and her investment. Solid customer service and attention.  This is what brings them back and is what will keep us as  regulars at U Street.
Do yourself a favour and drop in to U Street Pub. They have an amazing list of brews, awesome food, great prices, a nice "local feel", and pride in ownership. Â We need to keep places as busy as possible, especially when the tourist trade isn't invading. Â U Street Pub is a spot that has a nice vibe that will be my first choice whenever I am passing through Seaside. Â Good food, smooth jazz in the background, and a nice and relaxed pace makes it the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a great meal and a drink or two or three. Open late (11PM) which is so nice in the land of so many places closing when they feel like it and it's always too damn early.
I'd love to see oysters and chips on the menu in the future. (hint hint) Our next visit is for the burgers that have to be as awesome as everything else they serve.
Teri, you have here-by been Yelped!!! Thanks for a great meal and visit! Â See you soon!! Maybe, we will bring Rayboyo, the raven next time. Â He isn't a picky bastard like I am (wink)
Branagain & Elise
Nice pub in the south of Seaside. I like it especially for the fact that they have Lompoc C-Note on tap (my very favorite IPA hands-down). The Mermaid's purse fish wrap is a tasty / unique food item (if you don't see it on the menu be sure to ask -- they had it on a separate menu last time I was there.) I'm, told they may be dropping that from their offerings which would be a shame (and would lose a star from my rating) since then you're just left with a basic burgers and fries kind of menu (but if that's what you want then you won't have any problem!
Service admittedly can be spotty -- like any place around here they struggle especially in the off season so they keep only the staff on they think they'll need, and if there's an unexpected rush that can slow things down a lot.
The service when we went was very poor- we had to give our order to 2 different wait staff and then didn't hear from either one of them until our food came and not again the rest of the evening ( we even had to go up to the bar and ask for water and the check). Â The food was ok, except for the milk that my son received had a use by date of December 7 (we were there on the 18th). Â We will be finding a different place to eat next time we visit Seaside.
Review Source:I tried the "Mermaid Purse" and it was so super good. Great place to stop off the beach and grab a bite with the entire family. I liked that they have huge pieces of butcher paper and crayons for the kids to keep them busy while you wait for your food and you can order a drink from the bar for the "Big Kids" :)
