Upstate Tavern

After reading some of the reviews on TripAdvisor, I wasn't sure what to expect from Upstate Tavern as many of them referenced poor service.     We visited on a Thursday night and found quite the opposite.

We were seated in the bar area, not sure why as there were tables in the dining room and were greated promptly by our friendly server.    She quickly took our drink and appetizer order and brought things out promptly.      I had a glass of wine and a glass of water.    The wine was fine but the water tasted awful - not sure what if it was dishwasher soap or what but it was nasty.     Our server quickly replaced it with a fresh one which was much better.    Sadly, the first one left a bad taste, literally, in my mouth.

The appetizer of fry bread and spinach dip was really good as was my beer can chicken.     My husband had the tomato soup and grilled cheese and said both were tasty as well.

My only complaint about the service was that it was a little too quick at the end - I was still finishing my entree when our server cleared my husband's plate, asked about desserts and asked if we wanted the check while I was still eating.     She left for a bit and brought the check just as I was finishing up my last bit of salt potato.     It wasn't busy so I'm not sure what the rush was but it brought the meal to a bit of an abrupt end.

Food and service were good.  Had some good beer choices.  Not the best place, but it was solid to start the night with.  If it was not in the casino, not sure if I would have gone
