Went there for a slice of pizza and a beer after work one evening. I heard they had great pizza. Well not that night. They have a really small menu after 9-10 pm, and a slice of pizza was on there, thought I would try it. I knew something was off when my pizza was brought out less than 5 minutes later. It was lukewarm. Barely any sauce, and cold, hard cheese. (thought pizza would have gooey hot melty cheese?) The only flavor on the pizza was the itallian sausage, and even that was cold. I feel like I must have got someones uneaten pizza from earlier in the night. So not worth it. If you list pizza on your "late night menu", at least make it FRESH.... or say thats its reheated leftover crap from lunch. Not happy. I think I have chewed on toothpicks that had more flavor.
Review Source:I went with a few buddies not too long ago and we had a blast. The atmosphere is unlike anything I've experienced before in the sense that it is very laid back and relaxed.
Inside they also have love music from time to time you can enjoy either from the bar or the couch lounge area that is right in front of it.
Their food is also spectacular, I recommend this place for a hang out definitely.
Just left a Central Texas Vapors meetup here @ The Uptown Social, and I have to say, for the price (38.00) for 3 mixed drinks, an appetizer, a meal and Iced Tea, I was very pleased. The terrace has ample room for all to enjoy as well as interior room. The food was AWESOME.
Met the kitchen manager and let him know what a good job they were doing (he even let us sample some new additions to the menu that were OUT OF THIS WORLD)!! We had over 45 people in out group for the meetup. I warned the manager that we were going to run his girls into the ground with orders, and, all in all, they did a great job.
Did I forget to mention, they had live music that was equally as awesome.
Overall, I will be happy to return as a regular guest ANYTIME!!
PIZZA REVIEW: Â This place is very cool, and located on top of the building I work in is very convenient! Â I was starving after work, and I ordered a slice of Hawaiian-style--Canadian bacon, pineapple, and extra cheese. Â The slice came out quickly, and--lo and behold--it's a giant slice, much like BHP in Cedar Park and Benny Tudino's in Hoboken. That in itself is a whole star, in Your Ol' Pal Shooey's grading scale. Â So, the slice was pretty good. Cooked well, decent crust, toppings were nice. I'm dinging the star bexause there was just something lacking. A je ne sais quoi, that makes the difference between great pizza, and OK pizza. This was OK pizza, but at the high end of OK. There was just something missing in the flavor. Â I will eat it again, as the convenience is there, and it is a decent slice. It's a 4-star pizza, for sure. Â I'll have to have a few more to determine the missing "it".
Review Source:A great place in downtown Georgetown. The only rooftop place in the north Austin, Round Rock area. They have a nice bar menu, some good appetizers and pretty good pizzas (for Texas, of course) . If the weather is good, definitely give it a shot and you will enjoy the rooftop setting, Service is decent. Place is hygienic and somewhat newly designed. Inside ambiance is nice too with red couches and TVs. Happy hour prices are not that great and probably therefore this place doesn't see huge crowds during evening time (hence I am cutting the one star). This place is definitely worth one visit, especially if you are in G'town and don't want to drive all the way to Austin.
Review Source:A nice place to meet for happy hour or a casual date. Â The staff is very friendly, though at times a bit slow. Â The chili cheese fries, pepperoni rolls, and fried cheese are great appetizers, though the salsa lacked any kick to it. Â Pizzas are above average for Georgetown. Â Good food, friendly staff, and some great happy hour promotions make this a nice place to hang out at.
Review Source:Not impressed, at all. Â We had a pizza that was just o.k., nothing that would encourage us to return. Â Frankly, it lacked substance, but they call it New York style pizza. Â I grew up in New York and have consumed slices in all five boroughs, some great and lots more near great. Â Like I said, this pizza was o.k., but to compare it to New York style or call it such is misleading.
Did I mention that the service was just o.k., as well. Â Indifferent nearly to the point of rudeness. Â And the music. . . very bad and very loud. Â I actually told the waitress that it was so distracting in its badness that it could not encourage eating or drinking. Â Why are they in business?
I was very excited to try this place out, if only from the buzz it gets with college students. I was unimpressed, particularly by the waitstaff. While on the floor and in full view of us, the waitress was eating food, cussing, and complaining about other customers. She never asked us how our food or drinks were, and we had to flag her down for anything we needed, including water refills and the check.
I got a cherry vodka sour, which was fine, but my friend ordered an amaretto sour that, after both of us tasting it, we agreed was too heavy on the alcohol. That might be a good thing for some, though.
The food was good, but a little overpriced for what we got. The fried pickles were the highlight of the evening. As a disclaimer, we ordered wings instead of a pizza, which has supposedly won them a "Georgetown's Best" award.
The first time we went here I really didn't dig the bartender. She was just so impersonal.... She gave US the bar and dinner tab before we were even done eating. It was really weird and awkward. I wasn't even done drinking. It's not like there was a line of people waiting at the bar to sit down either! Â My husband and I liked the food here though so we went back and this time sat at a table. Much better service! We had wings and a really awesome pizza..... Â I hate chain pizzas. I'm from the nj/ny area and take pizza pretty seriously. The pizza was fresh thin crust and almost seemed gourmet... Â I'm looking forward to going back when its cool and sitting outside
Review Source:Have to admit, we were only luke-warm on this place the first time we went. Â We spent a pretty penny, its a bit on the small side, and the odor in the lobby downstairs was strange (not that we thought that had anything to do w/ this place, but that minor detail added to the night). Â
We've been back a few times since, and what I would have rated a 3 previously is now a solid 4. Â
Food: Â I can't comment on the menu too much, simply because the pizza is absolutely incredible, and my wife won't let me order anything else when we go (We once had the spinach & artichoke dip, and that was good, but in my estimation, thats doesn't change much from place to place so its not a good barometer for food quality). Â The pizza is crispy with a sourdough crust that is done perfectly. Â Being from Jersey, we were hard up for good pizza when we moved down here. Â This place absolutely holds its own in that regard. Â You'll pay $23 for a large, which we consider a great deal, as it feeds both of us for a meal and neither one of us leaves hungry. Â My wife wants to go, literally, every single weekend. Â We've done the Margherita, Uptown Classic, Mama Mia, Mona Lisa, and Greek, and loved them all. Â We thought the best was a half-split with Margherita and Greek (we love the spinach and olives). Â
Bar/drinks: Â Initially, I would have said the alcohol is overpriced, but they've added/promoted more drink specials since they opened, which easily make it a reasonable night out if you want. Â We likely overspent the first time, but have never had a problem with our bill on the 3 or 4 times we've been back.
Ambience: Â Its nice, inside. Â You can feel the loungy atmosphere. Â Although it is a bit small inside, the rooftop should definitely be utilized on a nice night, it really adds value to the place. Â
Overall, its a nice place for an upscale pizza and few drinks with the wife and some friends. Â I'm surprised to see people comment about watching sports here, bc I wouldn't peg it for a place that I'd enjoy going with guys to watch sports, BUT they do have a few TVs at the bar that are tuned to sports when there, so its serviceable. Â Seems to me they've put in some effort to cater and entice people, so I like to give my business where people make an effort.
- Visit 1-went here when it was Silver and Stone- bad , and overpriced food .
- Visit 2-tried the Sunday Brunch- specifically requested "no crab" in the omelette- arrived with crab- after tasting it and realizing immediately , I drank 2 litres of water and still had a burning, swollen mouth. The wait staff thought it was funny...
so, when it became Uptown Social, I tried again.
Visit1 - really bad sandwich with a friend for lunch, barely edible.
Visit 2- was there for an event, wait staff pleasant but slow , untrained and confused - had the bacon wrapped shrimp, and barely made it home before vomiting it all back up.
no more visits planned for me.
This place deserves to be way better than the 3 star review average. Â The pizza is really good and the servers are friendly too. Â Give this place a chance, walk past the doctor offices on the first floor and take the slow elevator to the 4th. Â That's where the party is at. Â Great place to watch college football or meet friends. Â And their outdoor patio is perfect for a Texan late-summer night. Â It even comes with a great view.
Review Source:Uptown is a decent place for happy hour or a date with the honey.
Fried pickles, spinach artichoke dip, Greek salads, and Greek pizza are our usual ordered items.
Lately, sometimes the food, especially the salads, can seem...not on the fresh side, but you have to consider that this place really is a bar. The pizza is not as good as it once was. My date enjoys the pizza rolls. I stick with the salads. Never order the chicken on top of salad. The wings are good.
Have tried and enjoyed most of the mixed drinks but usually stick with the wine list! They have Lienenkugal sunset wheat on tap. YUM!
All in all, we enjoy Uptown. They have changed their hours around lately (annoying,) so we are never sure when they are open anymore. The food is not as good as it once was, but there are some things on the menu that we still enjoy. They have an excellent outside patio for sunny days!
Worst place I have ever been. All they cared about was how much money I would tip them. Girl snatched the check before I had a chance to finish writing the tip. Cussing is a must at this place weather it be you or the staff. I'm pretty sure I heard the f word six or seven times from my waitress. Food wasn't all bad when it's hot too bad it was always late and freezing . Let me just say don't waste ur time or money.
Review Source:I wasn't around for when this place opened up but my wife was and she would always tell me about it. Â At the time I was working overseas but finally came home in mid Feb. Â Being from Georgetown this place makes life a lot easier when a drink and chill time is to be had.
It is kind of weird to walk into a medical plaza to go get a beer (seems ironic kind of) but once you hit the elevator and get up to the fourth floor that thought quickly passes. Â I mean what other roof top bars are there in the area?
This place is geared to suit anyone that walks in the door. Â Want the game? Â They got it on one of their many flat screens. Â Need to have a nice dinner with your other half? Â Step on outside to the patio and watch the sunset. Â
Need to have a meeting or hold a gathering for under 200 people? Â Call and talk to Shane, Frank or Ellie (the awesome management) and they will help you out with whatever you need.
I have always had a great time up there and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a get away or looking for a new regular spot.
The place was called Silver and Stone before it was Uptown Social. Â I ate there once a few years ago. Â It felt quite odd walking into a medical office building to eat dinner. Â Now that it is Uptown Social, it's not any different. Â It still feels weird. Â And not in a cool "you need a password to get into this awesome place" kind of way, but rather in an uncomfortable "is there a gynecologist's office in here and did that poor woman just come out of the stirrups" way. Â It just doesn't feel like a place where one should be 'socializing.' Â Or eating.
The view is nice. Â
The food was decent. Â We went at lunch and it was bar-type food. Â Paninis, pizza, salads. Â The usual greasy stuff. Â My order was wrong and the waitress threw the cook under the bus and never offered to make it right. Â In any way. Â She basically said, 'I told him not to do that.' Â End scene. Â Curtains close.
We were a group of four and there were two other people in there. Â
I will probably not go back unless someone wants to take me to lunch and pay for me. Â As for being a bar, I don't drink and all of my friends live in Austin, so it's not like they are going to drive to Georgetown to hang out at the one place that stays open past 8 pm. (If it DOES stay open past 8...)
This is Georgetown. Â It's populated by old people or people like me who don't want to live in Austin because they don't have that Austin lifestyle or they just like being close to work. Â There is no market for places like this, unfortunately, because if we eat lunch out, we want it cheap and/or crazy good and if we drink, we go to Austin and drink with the rest of civilization. Â (Or we drink alone...at home... while surfing internet dating sites.) Â If Georgetown can't sustain a LUBY'S, it's not going to sustain this place. Â Kudos for trying to open another restaurant and bar, but there's nothing special about this place that will make it any different from the other businesses I have seen fail over the past 5 years. Â How Monument cornered the market here is beyond me, and my ignorance is why I am not a small business owner.
I LOVE this place! I haven't ordered anything from the menu that wasn't absolutely delicious! That being said, I have had everything on the menu! I am amazed at the friendliness of the staff and managers- they always remember me as well as my friends! The owners will take care of you know matter what! They truly value your business and want you back! They now offer brunch and have expanded the menu! My favorite drinks are the Sweet Tea Martini & the Wake-Up Call, must try! The outdoor seating is the best part, you can see the whole town and more! This place will be around a long time! I hear they are opening up a sushi place within the building... What could be better!?
Review Source:Let me save you some pain: Â it's all about the cash (yours) and no love at the US. Â Wasted space, wasted view, wasted loser clientele -- where'd they find these people? Â (Love the other review reference the music mix/channel choice: Â "Now That's What I Call the Worst Shit Ever". Â Perfect!) Â In sum: Â lame, embarrassing, tacky; it's too close to Austin to be this bad, e.g. we know what "right" looks like and this place is just soooo wrong.
Review Source:No real places to go in this town for a drink
No bars open late it looks like I think
So imagine my surprise
Or sobriety's demise
When we find a place for a drink
The service was quick the bar was barren
Fourth floor patio let all of the air in
Fancy liquor
Never served quicker
Though it pales to Austin where I'd been
The food was good and company decent
Though in a medical plaza I'd never seen it
We still got some sprits
Which was enough of a bit
And conversations that said what they meant
Great new place in Georgetown.. I used to live in Georgetown and found it difficult to find any place fun to go to. No longer! Â This roof top restaurant / happy hour spot is awesome.. Great views, lots of outdoor seating, good happy hour specials and tasty food. Â We had the pizza (good), wings (good), bacon-wrapped shrimp (good) and some other appetizers.. all were pretty good. Â I Highly recommend for a happy hour group occasion, sitting outside.
Review Source:Oh God this place.
The hilarious outsider art priced in the hundreds on the way to the elevator really sets the mood for Uptown Social. If you're a clueless rich person with no taste, then you'll dig it... maybe
First impression: TERRIBLE design, tacky ass Ikea pseudo-loungy furniture everywhere.
Obtaining my drink at the bar was so awkward. The bartenders seemed like they had been drinking codeine syrup for a few hours, just really sluggish and dazed. It took forever for them to make a g&t. Dude shoved one of those little credit card black books back at me with my change in it, sending coins tumbling to the floor.
My group of friends usually has a good time together, but the vibe at our table was just so gloomy. Like just kind of ashamed that we were all drinking at this place, everyone's faces eerily lit by the 20 foot projected football game looming above us.
The music I'm guessing was streaming from a Godforsaken satellite radio station that probably had a name like, Now That's What I Call the Worst Shit Ever. Curated by some fourty year old who just googled the top 40 charts of the last 12 years and picked songs that sounded like a 17 year old would like. Man I don't even know, it was like a mix, which I am usually so down with, but all the songs were terrible.
It's just kind of sickening how there is a college in this town where a bunch of chill ass people like me go to school and we don't have anywhere decent to unwind. Like have the owners of this place ever been to Austin? I mean really, what the hell are we supposed to do?
Really disappointed.  All week  we had been planning on Pizza and Fireman's. Â
We arrived shortly after 8:00, Friday evening (1/20) and they were quite busy.  There is no host, which is a major problem for this establishment.  You enter in  the middle of a seating area. Â
On our arrival, there were a few empty tables but they struggled to clean these off. Â We noticed an open area, in the kinda cool loungy seating, though the table needed to be cleared. Â We sat on the sofa, and attempted to get the attention of a staff member. Â One said hello, but that was it, she kept on walking. Â We saw several staff, and I believe the owner "Bobby" as well, hustling back and forth but none acknowledged us or the couple next to us, seated at the hightop table located at the entrance. Â After 10 minutes, we physically flagged down one of the gentlemen in the striped blue shirts, we were redirected to the bar, as we were told a larger party seated at the bar wanted to sit on the sofa lounge. Â Totally, get that! Â So, we asked for one of the empty tables to be cleared in the bar area and he obliged. Â He gave us the drink menus (very nice presentation - bound menu) and the photocopied paper food menu. Â Another 10 minutes, no one came back to take a drink order or food order. Â Couldn't get the gentlemen's attention, or anyone else's for that matter. Â We were seated right next to the kitchen window, overheard one staff member relaying to one of the managers that "this has been in the window for 10 minutes" and that there were some orders taken to the wrong diners. Â It became apparent, we were not going to get service. There were some major kitchen issues distracting the managers and staff. Â At 8:40, we gave up and left. Â
Looks like a great place to have a drink - at the bar, but beyond that... Â Truly disappointing, Georgetown can really use a place like The Uptown Social, but the service is horrendous. They have some major wrinkles - Â I sure hope they iron out these issues.
Side note: Â I read the reviews here on Yelp, before we came, one of the glowing reviews really had me looking forward to a good meal and a great night. Â I should have looked more closely at the review, one of the pictures added has the places logo photo-shopped into it. Looks like "advertising". Â Also checked out their Facebook page. Also, there were several scathing comments on FB last night. Â Funny thing, they were Johnny-On-The-Spot in deleting those unflattering comments. Â If only their service had been as expedient, Â @TheUptownSocial
Food is great. Drink menu is wonderful and the service is top notch. It's time for Georgetown to have a place to enjoy great food and have a drink. The only other location are your major restaurants, Office Lounge, and Hardtails. This place definitely gives you a better atmosphere and a great patio view of Georgetown.
I recommend ordering a Patron shot, Uptown style. If you don't know what it is, I promise you that you will enjoy it. Georgetown needs a place like this to stay open despise the several attempts such as Landmark Tavern, Three Legged Willie's and the Loading Dock.
FINALLY, a new bar in Georgetown! We saw the sign for US "coming soon" when we first moved here but had no idea what it was going to be. We've been heading to Wildfire for a drink and have heard as taps is playing the obituary list of closed Gtown bars (Landmark Tavern, Three Legged Willie's, etc) thinking there's some Gtown curse! I finally found out about US opening through the two reviews that were already posted on here  but didn't really help me much so decided to try it out for myself. There's a link to their website on their yelp page and explored it a bit but it took all of 5 minutes since it seems to be be a work in progress. They need to make it more exciting or uber cool with flash animation. They also have a facebook "like" page and do a good job updating their page with events and specials. We headed down to the building plaza. You could walk down to it if you are parked in the town square area or if you're lazy, there is free parking in the lot. There isn't much razzle dazzle on the outside of the building that screams HELLO! I'm Uptown Social and I'm awesome, you should come in, and honestly you wouldn't even know it was in the area unless someone told you.
Going into the building was like going to your 9am doctor's appointment in a Prudential office plaza. You walk windingly to the back elevators. Press the 4th floor and ta-da you are right there at the entrance. We hear the sound of conversation and were glad to see that there were several groups of people in there, not jam packed but busy looking enough. The layout is narrow and rectangular. We asked one of the bartenders for a drink menu and we got these office paper copies of their cocktails, wines, and beers. Umm I'll give them some leeway on not having a great looking menu for now esp since they just started and probably are getting a feel of what their set menu should have. I'll give them credit for at least one and not just write it up on a chalkboard somewhere. I first got the sweet tea martini and was good, just seemed like it took forever for the bartender to make it. There was an open table so went to go sit, we didn't know if a server would come up to us so we just patiently waited and waited, we even made eye contact with some of the ladies working there and boy where they zoned out like a kid overdosed on ADHD meds because we didn't get the time of day from them! There's somewhat of a strike for them because even though yes they were busy, they weren't THAT busy and the servers need some customer service training. A simple hello or smile to customers does wonders and unfortunately we got a pretty darn cold reception initially. We finally decided to just get the attention of one the waitresses and after getting her out of her zoned out mode, she quickly apologized and became very chatty and  friendly. Our server's name was Laurel like a laurel wreathe  and she was as friendly as can be. We ordered the pickled chips and wings and they were quite good. I then ordered their red bull cocktail and that was good as well. Their menu has all the basic "bar" fixings of fried stuff and pizza but nothing really too exciting. It's like the food at an Austin food truck that you would rate as average, it's not as hip like the ones on the corner of 5th and Colorado.
Overall, Â we had a good time. One big plus of the night was that one of the owners (Bobby) introduced himself to us and was REALLY one swell guy. I noticed him going around the bar to the different social circles saying hi, chit-chatting, and making sure they were having a good time. Bobby even gave us some complimentary shots! We went outside to the balcony area and it really is a great place to get away from the inside crowd but was pretty bare and has lots of potentia. Hopefully come spring, it would be awesome to see what they do for sitting areas. Now as far as the inside, not much music, a lot of flat screen TVs on the wall with the same football game on and they're all muted. I'm still not sure what kind of place they are trying to b. Is this a sports bar where you can watch the game without sound? Is this a cocktail bar that is lacking that electro music in the background? Is this an active bar where they're going to have theme events (noted karaoke on the website but didn't say when) Also what kind of clientele is going to develop here? So far from the looks of things, it seems like a mixed crowd, but will it slowly become a hangout for the young college peeps, or even a hangout for the senior citizens?! Perhaps yelpers can make this place uber popular, or even the Gtown/RR GLBT community who have no place in the 'burbs to hang out at, so honestly I don't know, but it definitely has potential. I hope for many more visits to this bar when I'm not in the mood to drive down to Austin and I recommend my fellow yelpers to check out this place. Again, I'll give this place time to figure out what it is, but for now it's an Uptown Social.
I don't frequent Georgetown but circumstances brought me here recently. Â There are two bars in the area that looked promising but after some research found they were both on a "hiatus". Luckily Uptown opened recently and was showing the Rose Bowl game.
Uptown is a long narrow bar and grill located on the 4th floor of a business center. Â They have a balcony on the outside of the restaurant with a nice view of the town and the perfect place to watch the sunset. Â
The menu is Italian themed with subs, panini sandwiches, salads, appetizers (such as bruschetta) and New York style pizzas. I had a small Greek salad and bruschetta while Jesse opted for the Uptown Sub with house made potato chips. Â The Greek salad was perfect, just enough cheese, olives, fresh crisp vegetables and delicious feta cheese. The bruschetta sauce was swimming in way to much olive oil and the veggies did not seem as fresh as the salad veggies. Â The house made chips were a mix of moist thick slices and crispy crunchy pieces of potatoes. Â The subs are served on 9 inch huge hoagie roll. I tried a bite of the sub which consisted of salami, ham, red peppers, provolone, basil pesto with Italian dressing on the side. It was pretty good.
They have 5 beers on tap (to include Amber Austin and Fireman's 4), a decent wine list and a full bar. Â They list specialty drinks on their menu and have a drink happy hour.
They have about 8 flat screens, were showing the game but did not have the sound on. Â My guess is on a weekday night they might turn down the music and put the sound on if customers asked.
By the time we asked for the check, the place had filled up and everyone was ordering the pizza. As much as I enjoyed that salad, chips and sub I will definitely give the pizzas a shot next time.
