Overpriced & the owner demeans his female staff. He even throws things at them. But it is very nice inside & they have great artichoke dip!!!

I've been here several times now. I live right down the road and it's close. For the most part I've enjoyed it. Their burgers and fantastic, but I can't say the same for the taco salad. It just tasted like a regular salad with unseasoned meat on top. As far as the sports bar goes...they have pretty good beer. I always think every bar should have at least one dark beer on tap and they have black butte, one of my favorites. So I give this place 4 stars and will be going back again and again.

Went here 2 times as live in area. Positives are the staff is friendly and beer is cold. The food is horrible. Old wings, lousy fries, old lettuce. Overall worst food have had in a long time

Stop by here when we were looking for houses and it was actually pretty good. Not to sure about the Sports bar aspect of it, since we were there for lunch and no game was one. But looking at the TV's it seems it would be fun.

I really wanted Chili Cheese Fries and it was not on the menu, but the waitress was so nice and said she would make some up for us. The Chili was amazing!!! I could have eaten a tub of it.

My fiance and his cousin had the burgers and they looked good. They must have not been to bad because they ate them all. We also got the wings and the fry on them was great, though they seemed a little chewy, but it could have just been those 2 wings because the rest were fine.

Overall I give it a 4?! You ask why not a 5 because the food was good, service great, place was nice. This is because I must go more then once for a 5 star. I assume since we are moving a block away from the place we will be there again and I doubt I will have a complaint.

Thanks Varsity for good food and service. :)

This is a local bar and grill in the neighborhood. It has a sports bar atmosphere. They are clean, well lit, TV's everywhere and I have not met a server that wasn't pleasant. One of the waitresses called her babysitter so she could stay open until midnight for my friends and I for New Years.  On another visit after work one evening a friend and I dropped in for Nachos and a couple drinks. They have two sizes of Nachos Large and small or mini. We ordered the Large and this server in her infinite wisdom cautioned us that their Large could feed a football team. OMG, thank you for the information. When the mini came out it was larger then most establishments large. It must've been on a 10"plate and about 3-4" high. Well worth the $10. It fed us both plus leftovers the next day. Only draw back is it was almost $2 for guacamole and our drinks were a bit pricey. Oh, another draw back... why do they not have a blender with two full bars? Yep-no blended drinks at the Varsity.

My girlfriend and I ate here for the NYE UFC fights. This was probably the best sports bar we have eaten at. The food was great, the staff was wonderful, like she said, they left us alone during the fights, and the crowd was great.

My boyfriend and I ate at this venue on a night of a UFC fight and I mush say the service was really good, the food was good, and was a perfect place to watch the fight. They people working were very attentive to our needs with out interrupting us watching the fights. I would highly recommend this place and we will be back.

I've eaten here three times.  The food is good for bar food.  What I really liked was that the draft beer came in a frosted glass, so the beer was really cold.  Serve is good. This is one of the best places to eat in Scappose.

Came here for Monday Night Football, and was only drinking, so cannot comment on the food -- although it did smell pretty good whenever it passed by.

The Varsity has a pretty good selection of beers on tap, including several NW micros. The service is also friendly, and the place is clean, which easily makes Varsity the nicest place to watch a game in Scappoose. No need to get up to date on your vaccinations before coming here, like you would want to do before heading to a couple of the establishments a bit further down the road.

We've been here a couple times (my husband has family and friends in the 'Poose), and I always leave with the same reaction:  that was all right, but HOW MUCH did I just spend on it!?  The food tastes good, and the portions are fair, but it's not worth the prices they charge.  You also have the little tacked-on fees, like opting for a side salad instead of french fries.  I hate being punished for trying to be a little healthier.

The atmosphere is fun and casual, somewhere you could take your friends or in-laws alike.  The staff is also friendly and accommodating.  It's just overpriced for what is essentially bar food.

I don't like to miss an opportunity to recommend a place when they really deserve it.  If you are looking for a friendly sports bar that is as well suited for families and couples alike, Varsity Grill & Bar (V Spot) is worth a visit.  It's a blue collar place so coffee  and wine snobs will probably be disappointed.  If you want to be ignored by your server, go somewhere else. I have been going to Varsity for a year and a half and look forward to it each visit.  They get customer service...a rarity in NW restaurants these days.  There are large HDTV's abound showing any important game all the time.  Often, they host sporting events and the room fills quickly so be sure to get there early.  The attention to detail, cleanliness, and knowledgeable staff offer this Sports Bar top marks in my dining book!  The quality of food is at or above average for a sports bar.  You will be shocked and awed at the size of the nachos plate and you can't beat the drink prices!!  The atmosphere and staff exceed expectations. The owner and staff get that you are the reason they are around.  If you need a break from the cookie cutter sports bars like Buffalo Wild Wings, and you find yourself on Rt. 30 passing through Scappoose, I would recommend you stop in and visit.

Great atmosphere, and plenty of televisions to catch the game you came to see. The staff is always very friendly and prompt. They'll go above service, and actually have conversations with you.  Very cordial!

The menus are cute! They're classic Pee Chee folders, adding to the sports theme the owner has placed for his son, Derek Anderson (player for the Arizona Cardinals and Scappoose native).

The food is greasy, but I did have their fish tacos off the appetizer menu as an entree, and it was very fresh and tasty. As far as drinks, they have a nice selection of beers on tap, and their pineapple drop on the cocktail menu is fabulous!!

One time we went just to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was very nice, and quite enjoyable to talk with. I asked for a gin martini (not brand specific, since bartenders usually follow up with "what kind?"). She did not, and made me one from the well gin. It was rather nasty gin, but drank it anyways. I did ask for a second, but specified Tanqueray. She then said, "Sure! I prefer Tanqueray anyways. I don't like the well gin, either. It actually gives me a headache when I drink it."
Okay...then why did you just serve it to me if it's something you wouldn't even have yourself??

I wish they would update their website (as far as hours are concerned). They say they're open until 11pm, and we showed up once at 10:15 and they were cleaning for the evening. The door said 10:30, so we didn't even go inside.

It was the first place we tried when moved to Scappose, it's really close to home, how could we miss........
Well, the atmosphere is fun, comfortable.  Ambiance not bad.  Beer selection is up there.....However, don't go there hungry, or expecting a "good" meal.  Ah, not the best.
But, Glenn and his mom are extremely friendly, and do go out of their way to make certain you're well taken care of, and we were, and we have been, although we don't eat there any longer.

Great little place. Your classic sports bar/grill. Nice menu, nice cocktails, and a good place to meet up with friends and see people you know around town. The food is a little on the greasier side, but that's kinda what you expect from a place like this. The decor is all sports memorabilia, including a lot of Scappoose High School sports pictures, Letterman jackets, and Derek Anderson tributes. Sometimes they have a band on weekends. All and all, a nice newer addition to this little town.
