Vern's Place

Breakfast here is decent. The eggs are cooked to order, good home fries, over salted   grits, homemade bread from Mapledale Farms, and I'm told from my breakfast party, the pancakes are tasty with the local maple syrup.

Upon entering through the pleasant facade, you'll be greeted with a stark white open kitchen-dining space (I miss their previous quaint location) with stares from the staff behind the counter. If you haven't been here before, you might not feel welcome, but hang in there, their blank stare will usually follow with a friendly hello from the owner or waitress.

The breakfast menu is simple and tasty. The food doesn't come out greasy, despite the cook wearing a wife-beater or sleeveless shirt where greasy food is expected (note to owner, can you get the guy a t-shirt? I don't like anyone near my food with an underarm exposed, thank you.).

I recommend giving Vern's a try if you are looking for a good and enjoyable breakfast. Sure the table may sit slanted and the place might be stark white (but with cool town photos from the past hanging on the wall), but I'll bet you'll leave satisfied.

Bring cash, I don't believe they accept credit cards.

Every time we drive past and see the owner sitting out front smoking, I realize we need to leave a review.
We stopped going here 2 years ago for a couple reasons.
First, the management seems like she could care less if you eat there or not. Not friendly or personable at all.
Second and most importantly, the bathroom.
There is 1 shared restroom in the place. My wife went in to use it last time there and it was not good.
It looked as if either someone was stabbed in there, or one of the female employees forgot to clean up after taking care of her monthly calling.
Very, very disturbing.
Have not been back since.
