Vet's Club is a fun bar to visit in Mt. Shasta; there really isn't much nightlife there so take advantage of what's available! Divey exterior and interior, pretty good drinks, jukebox, sometimes live music, and a variety of seating options. Vet's also attracts all sorts of people- great for people watching. It gets really full on weekends when the college in Weed is open, and some folks drive all the way from Yreka to go here. That may be partly due to the above observation- not too many options in general. Overall, I don't want to sound down on this place- I like it, and I would definitely go back!
Review Source:I've become a regular of this place every time I'm in town!
The staff is very friendly and the bartender is very knowledgable. It's my favorite place to try new drinks because the drinks are a lot cheaper than the bay area and the bartender knows a lot of different drinks.
One of my favorite things to do is people watch as there is always an array of different characters that come through this place!
They have bands from time to time, and a DJ on fridays the last time I visited.
It's a great place to chill and have a few drinks.
Of the 5 or 6 times a year that I'm in Mt. Shasta, I always stop into the Vet's Club. This is your stereotypical old school, no frills, town bar. Not to worry if you're new in town. You'll have made a couple of new friends before you leave. At least that was my first experience a few years ago and I continue to make additional acquaintances each visit.
If you're looking for acoustic ceilings and conversation pits with overstuffed chairs and cocktail servers this ain't your kinda place buck-a-roo banzai. If you're looking for a cavernous, echoing atmosphere inhabited by loud, interesting, quirky folks like ourselves, I highly recommend that you spend a few evening hours in the Vet's Club.
The oldest bar in Mt. Shasta, or so says the sign on the front window. Â After deciding against a drink post-skiing last weekend, my friends and I were were lured into the Vet's Club by the large flashing sign outside. Â
It ended up being an excellent decision. Â The bartender on Saturday nights is the sweetest. Â She was very talkative and happy to see us because, according to her, everyone goes to the Gold Club on Saturdays. Â If you want a busy bar, stop by on Friday nights. Â
Besides solid drinks and a nice bar-tend, the best reason to check out the Vet's Club is the large cozy fireplace. Â It was perfect after a day on the slopes.
