Really enjoyed our sandwiches. Service was great. Big portions!

Gluten free options are only available in 9" individual pizzas (and don't include the Thai chicken pizza) but you can also enjoy cheesy bread. Bring on the carbs!

Wow, I find Jamil Alam's comments really surprising, but maybe not really... Actually they match up pretty well with what I saw at his restaurant. The fact is that two of the worst restaurants I have visited in my life happen to be in Birch Run, and they are the only restaurants I have reviewed in Birch Run. I am not a restaurant critic, I am a dad who was in town for a gymnastic meet with my daughter. If you care to determine if my review is real I would encourage you to visit my trip advisor review page: http://www.tripadvisor.c… where I currently have 95 reviews, most of them 4 and 5 stars. I don't use yelp a lot, but in this case since I found the restaurant on yelp, I reviewed it on yelp. I generally only review places that I think are really good - to encourage people to visit, or really bad to discourage them from repeating my mistake. I visited this place hoping for a good meal, and I stand by my review 100%. The photos I posted are real, and still on my camera phone. The owner, Jamil Alam is obviously upset, but his attitude, insults and accusations are unforgivable. He may pour his heart and soul into this family run restaurant, but that doesn't the excuse the microwave bacon, boboli crust pizzas, and filthy bathroom. And to accuse me of posting fake photos is ridiculous, as I have nothing against his business other than having eaten a surprisingly bad meal there. I would suggest that a better approach would have been to apologize to a disappointed customer, then take a look in the (bathroom) mirror...

Wish we would have found it on our way north instead of south so we could have went twice!

I'll cut to the chase: Take an old Schlotsky's Deli, repaint in lucky shamrock green, add wine and beer sales (focus on local offerings), expand the deli menu in the most widely varying manner possible, add a separate ice cream and Lavazza coffee and espresso counter, expand seating indoor and out and add a faux fireplace or two, shake, and pour. Serves everyone kindly and faithfully, with all parties duly satisfied.

I love Schlotsky's, and there are so few (if any) left in Michigan. But I'd just as soon come to Victor & Merek's instead. Their "Muffelatta" is a highly respectable and delicious variation on the "Original" sandwich. But the menu is so varied here, there's no way for anyone in your party to be left unsatisfied - yes, even the veggieholics!

V&M is my new fave when passing through Saginaw county to places north... Highly recommended!

i was in Birch Run for business and I asked the locals where the best place to eat was. Hands down, I was told Victor and Merek's is the place to go. When you go in, they have the menu displayed overhead, but there are smaller, laminated menus to look at, so you are not craning your head. They have basic deli items, sodas made with sugar and not high fructose corn syrup, and wine. The wine racks were a bit random, but I liked the look of the place regardless. A fun environment, most people casually chatting while waiting for their food, and many people still hanging out after eating. The food is made and your order number is called out.

After eating here, I made a point of stopping back in after the end of my business trip as I headed back down the mitten. As delicious the second time around. I will definitely be stopping here when I make my occasional trips to the UP, and I hope whom ever reads these reviews will take a chance on this place and not stop at your standard fast food joints.

if i am going to birch run, i sure as hell am going to work up an appetite, and this is hands down way better than the fast-food joints around here, and a hell of a lot cheaper than uno's.

i've liked every sandwich i've ever tried. they are willing to customize your sandwich or your pizza, and if you are just switching out one topping for another, they haven't been charging me extra! the pizza's are good and hot and don't take forever to cook.

for whatever reason, i always thought the wine and liquor area was a bit of weird addition, but who am i to judge? maybe people need a little pick me up when they are shopping!

i am always thankful that it is busy when i go in, cause i would hate for this to close!

After hearing what others had to say I went in with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, I didn't think the food was that good. I also felt the atmosphere was very "chain restaurant" like. The fact that there were random wine bottles everywhere didn't make it any classier, it just made the atmosphere less-than-cohesive.

Pretty good chicken sandwich, needed a bit more sauce but good. The place was pretty weird, place was dead ( me and one other person) and staff was acting like the place was slammed. I would go back through the drive thou

I'm local and I'm proud that this place is on my list of go-to lunch or quick dinner places. Don't get me wrong, they're not perfect as I am always drawn to organic foods, made from scratch foods, fair trade coffee and the finest of ingredients. But this place is a breath of fresh air parked next to an A&W and one of the only good places in the middle of a few small towns. I'll keep going just to keep them in business!

I love taking long road trips. However the one thing I hate about taking them: the food. Same old crappy suspects each and every exit. Cracker Barrel? Applebee's? Chili's? No, thank you.

We got off on the Birch Run exit on our way to Traverse City, figuring we'd have the most to choose from here. We came across this lil place back behind the strip mall, and boy am i thankful we did. GREAT creative sandwiches with awesome bread. I think i had chicken something-or-other with guacamole on sunflower wheat bread. it was tasty. i was also lucky enough to snag a slice of my wife's delicious pizza. it was really cheap, too....compared to other places like it (panera, etc.). added bonus: they serve beer and wine, too...all locally produced. they also sell it to go. i didn't imbibe since, like i said, we were driving up north, but really would've enjoyed a nice cold oberon with my sandwich otherwise.

the only reason i'm giving them 4 stars instead of five is because my sandwich came out 5-10 minutes before my wife's and daughter's pizza. to be polite, i had to sit there with my food in front of me waiting for theirs to come. wish they would have just waited until all of our food was ready.

We wanted something quick and easy that wasn't your typical chain place and that we'd never been to...I saw pizza on the sign and it sounded good so in we went.

The menu was much more extensive than I'd imagined and it was tough making a decision...so I left it up to hubby! It's a place your order/wait for your number to be called/pick up your food yourself place and it took a good 10 minutes to get the pizza (which seemed longer than it was since we were hungry!) but overall isn't bad for fresh pizza. We had the Hawaiian and it was pretty tasty--not the best and not the worst--but definitely good.

Since there was no waitstaff and only a pickup window, it was a bit awkward to get a to-go box--you had to go up to the window and wait for someone to see you or shout at them to get their attention.

I took a quick look at their specialty beer and wine section, and it all looked nice (good presentation), but didn't seem an overly impressive selection.

We'd definitely eat there again if we were local, and if I could I'd give them a strong 3.5 stars, but am rounding up due to the extensive menu and non-chain-ness of it.

Clean, new, and bright in a non-chain like way. A good selection of deli sandwiches served on fresh baked breads. Jone's sodas and other interesting drinks makes this place a good alternative to the hum drum eateries that surround The Prime Outlets.
