have eaten here three times as I feel that no one should write a commentary or review unless they have done at least that. Â The fish fry was nice, but the salad bar was dreadful and the servers were very overworked. Â I give them the benefit of the doubt for the piecemeal delivery of food items vs. a meal at one time. The corned beef and cabbage benefit here was just as dreadful. Â Poor service and a focus on drinks vs. anything resembling an average portion size.
Review Source:So old school its awesome. Â I love these types of places, it reminds me of my grandparents!
We didn't actually eat at the Village Supper Club, we had some bloody marys in the bar in the back, and sat outside on their lovely deck overlooking the lake. Â I totally recommend stopping here for a cocktail!
This is a beautiful spot to enjoy a bevy on a warm sunny afternoon. They've got a throwback bar and a great patio. I hear sometimes you can get games going on their beautiful lawn that overlooks the lake.
Their Friday fish fry is so-so in my book. As good as it's going to get around here, but they don't make fish the way I like 'em (New England style). That said, I would never turn down going here.
It was fine except for the food and the service! Â The mixed drinks were good and the atmosphere of the some of the rooms were nice (although the chairs were of the large banquet hall variety). Â However, the service was inattentive and the food mediocre and amazingly high priced. Â My husband got the fish fry, which was okay but fried cod the only choice, but I ordered baked mostaccioli and it was not baked. Â It had some mozzarella dumped on the very top of the pasta, then sauce and some meatballs. Â That plate never got anywhere near an oven. Â When this was mentioned to the waitress, she shrugged. Â So much for being able to send it back. Â While my plate went untouched, the waitress seemed more concerned to find out my husband didn't want any more fish. Â She never came to find out how our meal was until it was time for the check. Â The relish bar is pathetic, with only saltine crackers and stale slices of the ends of Italian bread to put your cheese spread on (much better at the Duck Inn or Randy's in Whitewater). Â The prices are the highest I've seen at a supper club, with pasta with garlic on the menu for $16! Â None of the servers had smiles on their faces and the busboys rarely picked anything up off the table even though I stacked all our dishes and put them at the end of the table in an attempted to get them cleared away. Â A $52 dollar bill for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees (neither of them steak), a relish bar add-on, and a hot fudge sundae. Â We'd paid for drinks at the bar. Â Just ridiculous.
Review Source:The service here is just okay.  Our waitress wasn't exactly the friendliest and happiest.  She didn't want to bring us lunch menus at 3:00 in the afternoon   The food here is just okay as well.  I had a cheeseburger and fries which had nothing special about it.  The prices are a little high.  They have outdoor sitting which is really nice.  Great view of Lake Delavan.
Review Source:I came here with some of my extended family during a trip to the Lake Geneva/Delavan area. There was an extensive menu with stuff for everyone, and the service was good. Â The we enjoyed our meal with items msuch as Angel hair pasta, pizza bread, ravioli, and mostacholli. The relish bar was adequete, and the warm, delicious bread served to us was a highlight of our meal. Overall, we had a nice time, and we would come again.
Review Source:Wow. I'm not really a Foodie dork...just tell it like it is.
This was the worst meal my wife and I have ever had. Hands down.
No point in going into detail. The place was crowded, so I'm guessing they might do better, but after 2 bites of her dinner, my wife said "this is dog food".
She was right.
Avoid at all costs.
Finding the the Village was totally by accident, as we were heading to Rigatony's for Italian and they were closed by 4pm. This is a basic typical steak and seafood restaurant, found throughout Wisconsin on many of there beautiful lakes. Rustic  and dimly lit with old pics of the the city from as far back as the early 1900's. The bright spot is the part of the dining room that looks over  Lake Delavan. Best seats in the house. The bar had a TV and was very dimly lit. The patio deck sits on the outside of the Bar back wall and I would have opened the wall up to the outside deck, brightening up the bar area. The BBQ Ribs were some of the best tasting  I've had . My one complaint is I do NOT like , Pre-Cooked, Par boiled, fall of the bone meat. I still enjoy working on the bones. The Fried Smelts were awesome. 2 of the 5 daily specials were 86 by the time we got there at 6:30pm. The service was average to slow, as it took almost 1 hour from order to service, with only one of the two dining rooms open, so have a drink and enjoy the beautiful lake view. If you order it, It will come.
Review Source:I'm from Wisconsin, but live in California now, and just love this place.  I go here with my dad and his girlfriend, and it's their favorite restaurant.  It's on beautiful Lake Delavan and we always sit at the same table overlooking the lake.  It's quite a romantic little spot.  If I'm there on Friday, we have the fish fry lunch, with the to die for potato pancakes.  I've also had their very popular Seafood Fettucini and  Sauteed Scallops which were also very good.  They have my favorite California wine!  They have a very tasty relish bar with the best chopped liver.  I love chopped liver and my sister in law usually brings me some from LA- the good stuff.  But good chopped liver in Wisconsin!  Unbelievable!  If you live on the lake you can come in your boat, and dock it at the pier in front of the restaurant.  I call them and they send me gift certificates that I send to my dad.  I call him to find out if he's used the gift certificate, and he says,  "I'm saving it for when you come back!"
Review Source:I lived in Delavan for 25 years. Â Went back for a visit and had the fish fry here. Â Having tried fish fry's all over south eastern Wisconsin, I would rate this one as "just middle of the road". Â It is good, but nothing great. Â I will agree with one other reviewer...the potato pancakes were great...not like anything I have had before. Â The fish was a bit dry. Â We had the fried and baked. Â I wouldn't wait over an hour for a table, but if you are out with friends for the evening, the restaurant has a great location on the water with an outdoor deck and pier. Â
** just a side note. Â When parking, park in the lot across the street. Â The angled parking to the left of the restaurant is an accident waiting to happen. Â You have to back out and it is EXTREMELY TIGHT if the parking lot is full.
This review is for the transcendent fish fry.
I have been coming here for over thirty years with my family. Â The tradition of fish fry on Friday night is woven into the fabric of the Midwest. Â The ritual of enjoying, discussing and comparing restaurants' fish frys is almost as commonplace as beer-guzzling. Â The Village fish fry has barely budged in over thirty years. Â Everything looks and tastes the same with the minor exception that they now serve loaves of sliced bread instead of dinner rolls. Â The fried Cod comes with Cole slaw, applesauce, and your choice of french fries or potato pancakes. Â I recommend groups order both fries and pancakes so you can have some of both. Â Everything is served family-style. Â Though I have moved away from the Wisconsin area, I always am looking for awesome fried fish. Â Sadly, none ever come close to the Village. Â The cod is always tender and flavorful, battered just right. Â French fries are standard, but good. Â The potato pancakes are my favorite and out of this world! Â Even the Cole slaw is outstanding--a little creamy and a little sweet, but not too much, just right. Â
Again, this is my favorite fish fry world-over. Â In the summer, you can have an hour wait for a table. Â But on a Friday night, watching the sunset over the lake from their bar, who can complain? Â This is, after all, "God's Country"!
