The Von Scheidt sit down restaurant/ brewery at the above address is no more (closed), but they are still brewing and selling to local businesses. Â I tried the amber ale at a local sandwich shop and it had some off flavors and tasted like bad/bitter home brew. Â Â Maybe it was a bad keg, but I probably wouldn't order another glass unless I could taste test it first.
Review Source:Von Scheidt? We were thinking more like Von Sh*t. Although the people there were extremely friendly, business aside from the presumably regular customers was very slow. They were hurting, and it was easy to see why. There was some questionable entertainment going on that was comparable to listening to an elementary aged student practice plunking away at the piano. We were confused if he was just a staple there that everyone is used to and no longer hears, or if he was seriously considered the "live music" we saw advertised. Unfinished songs and trailing off words. Plink, plink...plunk. We chugged our beers, said "no thanks" to dinner, paid, and left hurriedly. We felt a bit embarrassed for the owners thinking how much potential they could have, but what they were completely ignoring that customers might not like..
Review Source:My friends and I have been to Von Scheidt's a couple times recently, always for the excellent live music they bring in -  some of our favorite local artists play there often. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is *delicious* - just be sure to get their early enough before the kitchen is closed (9pm-ish?), i think :)  While they offer several great beers, they have a limited selection of wines, which I felt were a tad pricey for what they were. All in all, the live music and fun atmosphere make this a great little pub downtown. Review Source:This is a great brewpub that we happened upon whilst looking for a good place to eat in downtown Twin Falls. Â We tend to eschew chains and places along the highway and prefer to look for local places in the real town, so we explored the area, saw a couple places to eat that looked promising, but happened upon this little gem on a quiet, more out-of-the-way edge of downtown.
It is a small bar/brewpub with live music in the evenings, attached to a tiny cafe that is apparently technically separate but provides the food.
The place brews its beer in the back with three taps dedicated to its own beer plus a range of about 10-12 other beers on tap, some macros and some craft beers, with a pretty good range of styles and choices. Â The brewpub's own beers are, based on the ones I had, excellent and far better than the usual little brewpub offerings. Â The taps for its own beers have handwritten paper labels on them.
The food is limited to a small menu and generally simple dishes like burgers and sandwiches, but what we had was truly excellent and prepared exceedingly carefully and well. Â We ordered the veggie burgers and they were the best veggie burgers we have ever had, a home-made recipe created by the cooks (apparently students at the local college cooking school) and hand formed right there. Â The mini-burgers for our kids were prepared nicely and beautifully arranged with care and precision.
The people working there are very friendly, eager, and clearly excited about their place. Â It is good for kids, but only until later in the evening.
