The Voodoo Room

We have lived in Astoria for many years and unfortunately we have watched The Voodoo Room decline steadily in it's customer service.  The atmosphere and the music are nice but the staff is attitude laced and one gets the feeling that if you don't fit in to their hipster, Portland outlier coolness conceptualization of who they believe belongs there you may not get served or worse yet be cut off or get thrown out for voicing your own opinion or looking at the bartender "wrong".  I now have a number of friends and colleagues who are not allowed to step foot in this establishment for tactfully expressing their opinions about the service or the quality of a poured drink.  If you want to go into the Voodoo, beware that you may be ejected at any time for any reason so mind your P's and Q's.  Especially with the bar tending staff.

The decor definitely sets this place apart from the rest of the area. If you want to try something different from mainstream bar scene this is the place. But beware, its CASH ONLY!!!! The service wasn't too bad, bartender did make her rounds and even nice enough to check on our drinks knowing it was our first time there. wish I was able to try the food, maybe next time we're in the area to relax. (Door is just to the right of the theatre's main entrance) We got lost walking around trying to find this place. LOL

Ptich black walls decorated with the trappings of a 'nawlins' nightmare.
Some of the most expensive drinks in Astoria.
Live music worth coming in for.
A sense of deliberate funkiness.
Casual hipster with broken down sofa, booths and tables made of an old Ouija Board.
Food from one of the best kitchens on the coast.
And best of all an "I don't give a shit," attitude.
I have yet to see any Tea Party Conservatives here with the exception of my wife.
i come here for a change of pace when reality becomes too real, the Voodoo Room transports.
