Food is just what you'd expect in a small town Waffle House. Service was mediocre at best. There were 7 of us sitting at 2 booths and she got out food mixed up. Pay attention lady... or take better notes. I highly recommend the peanut butter topping on the waffles. Kicks it up a notch for sure.
Review Source:DECENT COMFORT FOOD AT A GOOD PRICE
If you're reading this review for this specific Waffle House I'll bet you an order of hashbrowns you're passing through. How do I know? Before this review the only other place yelped in Lumberton was the Catfish Cabin...not to be confused with Katfish Kitchen nearby. My money (no not confederate) is the surrounding community is googling "tea party" before "yelp"...not that there's anything wrong with it.
My friend and I dropped by early Sunday morning for breakfast. The last time I've been to a Waffle House was during a road trip to Graceland somewhere in Arkansas...or was it Tennessee...wherever it was the radio kept playing Toby Keith singing about talking about himself. Well it didn't look like much has changed since. Same colorful menu, same comfort food, and same homey service. No you're not going to see the words "spinach & mushroom" or "organic" at this place. This is a touch of Americana and if hearing the word "y'all" every few seconds didn't remind you then the guy at the other end of the diner smoking will. (Yes I'll have a large hashbrown smothered to go along my side of emphysema!)
As is the case with comfort food I always order more than I should. I went with two eggs over-easy, toast, hashbrowns and waffles. My friend went with the bacon, egg & cheese melt and hashbrowns. The food was served fast and fresh, coffee refilled promptly, and as comfort food should it "hit the spot". My only issue is that for a place called the Waffle House the waffles aren't exceptionally good...but I guess the name Hashbrown House isn't as catchy to y'all. Nevertheless, by food options default I'm still a fan when in the area.
Sure you can make the same at home, but it's a nice place to enjoy your company during a decent breakfast at a good price. So thanks "Hashbrown House" (bka Waffle House) for beginning my 4 hour drive back to Austin right- and not just politically speaking.
