One of my all time favorite dive establishments. Sure, many patrons don't have teeth, you'll leave smelling like an ashtray, and lose your dignity in the shot bus, but it is truly an auburn tradition. There is nothing like getting the supper bus to pick you up at sky bar and riding along with a packed bus full of auburn fans singing fight songs after a big win. All in all, great sound system, cheap beer, good shots, and always great bands. A lot of the time there is a rap band inside, and a country singer outside...so they really cater to everybody. It is for sure worth the cover to party until 5am. Besides, didn't playboy rate this one of the top college bars? It tis indeed.
Review Source:My review may be a little slanted since I have been a fan of this place since I was in school at AU (91-96). The Supper Club use to be on of our regular stops day after day, week after week.
The legacy of this place goes way back. I can remember calling up the club and they would send out the van/bus (depending on what year) to pick you up and then after a long evening of drinking and partying they would also bring you back home. Around my Jr or SR year they moved the bus out back and made it into the shot bus.
On a recent visit back to Auburn for homecoming we had to make a stop back at the Supper Club. I have to say I was not disappointed, it was almost like a trip back in time.
Here is a little trivia that 90% of the visitors will not know the answer to, Do you know what is on the floor? It is an Orange and Blue checkered board floor. Most people couldn't tell you this because they either could not see the floor (too many people) or they could not remember their stay at the supper club.
Great Place, Long Live the Supper Club!
A staple in the auburn bar scene...used to go here a lot. Make sure its after midnight...this is where you typically end your night. Sometimes long lines to get in...this is usally a good sign of fun. The shot bus is awesome...my fave is the sir lancelot shot. Â Nice stage area. kind of a pain to get a drink thats usually pretty weak but sometimes thats needed when everyone is already tanked coming in the door. its open until like 4am...oh..oh the best part...drunk bus home for free!! you give the driver (if you want and quite appropriate) a couple bucks for gas and they drive your drunk butt home!!
Review Source:My Alabama tour guide picked this spot for the Auburn vs West Virginia Game. It was pouring rain and no doubt that squashed the turn out. On this night there was no cover and free food. Some BBQ pork thing, my friend really enhjoyed, it thought it needed mayo, but had a nice flavor. There was a big screen set-up outside, but they wouldn't turn the heaters on because that suppossedly messed with the projector or something. Did I say it was pouring down rain? So we watched Auburn go from up 17 to down however much, we opted to leave. Staff was nice, drink sucked, the little bus in the back was funny. I think when this place is packed it is probably the perfect venue, the set-up just screams fun, stage, room to dance, area out back. I wish we had caught it on one of those nights.
Review Source:I finally went to this place after hearing so much about it. Â It was a really really fun time. Â I wouldn't frequent it (bars aren't really my thing), but I enjoyed my night and wouldn't be opposed to going once in awhile. Â It's technically a private club because you have to buy a membership card to get in, which allows them to serve alcohol all night (I guess!). Â
They do have a lot of bands coming through this place. Â The night I went it was a bar favorites cover band that was very entertaining if not completely bizarre. Â It was the most fun I've had out in Auburn so far. Â I did feel a little alienated, however, by all of the Auburn sing-a-long songs. Â I'm not a student, nor a native, and it all seemed a little foreign to me. Â But good, clean fun? Â Absolutely.
Since Harry's bit the dust a couple of years ago, the Supper Club has taken the title of THE Dive Bar in Auburn. Â And I mean that in the most sincere way possible. Â It's frightening that it has the reputation that it does. Â When you think of Auburn, the Supper Club is the first bar that comes up.
Dank and smoky, but has the best sound system in town for live music. Â And maybe even the coldest beer as well. Â There's no better feeling than peeing into a trough after downing numerous shots on the Shot Bus. Â Parking is difficult. Â Yes there are about a million spaces, but when everybody goes here on the weekend then finding a place becomes hard (unless you want to park at the Winn Dixie and walk). Â
The best part about this historic place? Â The framed picture of Shaq dunking over Chris Brandt near the front door. Â Yes, you should go here. Â Prepare to smell like an ashtray afterwards!
The biggest little hole in the wall dive bar I've ever seen! Â The place is steeped in some awesome history. Amazing bands have played here (my buddies Spoonful James, Wynn Christian, Dave Matthews before he was big). Â
I'm sure great acts continue to grace the stage.
A friend of mine worked here and so I got to eat free wings, drink plastic cups of Bud, play Space Invaders and listen to all out funky rock & roll.
Some of the best times of my college life were had here!
