I should note that if this place was anywhere but Swainsboro, I would give it two stars.
But, as it is, it's one of the few places to eat in the area, and certainly better than fast food.
The pulled pork is good, as is the sweet tea. Everything else I've had there (fried pickles, fried okra, slaw, chicken tenders, fries) are totally underwhelming.
The service is great, though, and it's very small-town.
If you're in Swainsboro, go to Ware's for dinner!
(Also, the take-out shack downtown is great. Pulled pork sandwiches, brunswick stew, bare bones but good for what it is!)
This is one of two locations for Ware's in Swainsboro. There is one other location in Mt. Vernon also. This is the nicest one in Swainsboro and has a full menu to choose from unlike the other smaller location. This location also has three sauces to choose from! The inside of the restaurant has a nice lodge feel but the outside is bland and uninviting. Today I had the sliced Brisket and it was a little dry but still very good and had tons of flavor. The fries are your average crinkle cut but were served luke warm almost cold. The stew as others noted was very good and had lots of meat in it. Again, three sauce options here, mustard, vinegar, and sweet (the best with a little bite).
Review Source:Eat here! Now!
I was in town on business and this place was recommended to me by a local. I'm glad I listened.
I had the half rack of ribs. Now I'm very picky about my barbeque and these were--hands down--the best ribs that I have ever had in any restaurant. Their homemade sauce was incredible too.
They have another location closer to downtown Swainsboro, but I chose this location because it was bigger, had a wider variety of choices on the menu, and it was only about 3 miles out of town.
If you are wondering where to eat in Swainsboro, this is the place. I will come back here every time that I am in town.
