I very much enjoyed stumbling upon this place as I was in search of a pre-dinner glass of wine and the sidewalk sign read WINE BAR and looking through the window the view looked friendly so I thought ... give it a try.
The owner, Michael, was behind the bar talking to a couple customers and Jack, the friendly gentleman who was there singing and playing his guitar (which I believe was a steel guitar?) At our arrival Jack began singing and playing again and it was a very nice visit. With teddy bear sweet generosity, spontaneity, good spiritedness and true faith, Jack let me sing a duet with him. The back room is really cozy and intimate and comfortable, great for conversations. And when the days get warmer the waterfront deck will be where everybody'll want to flock.
I felt like a regular on my first visit.
I look forward to going back and checking out the different wines.
A great place to enjoy some wine and relax!
This is a fabulous wine bar that specializes in Washington wines. And by 'specializes', I mean that the owner, Mike, drives all around the state tasting wines, always looking for something a little different. He and his wife are extremely passionate about wine.
My girlfriend and I have spent numerous evenings hanging out in WA Sips, trying new wines. It wasn't until recently that we sampled their food offerings, and we were amazed! The cheese plates, dips and sandwiches are all excellent.
On the nights that they feature live music, it's tough to find a seat. The front of the joint is a typical wine 'bar', but in the back there's a lounge-type area with some really comfortable seating. There's even a deck out back. What more could you want?
They've got you covered for whites and reds, but what I really love about WA Sips is the ports that Mike uncovers. He's had some cream sherry ports and chocolate ports in his establishment that will knock you out!
If you want a low-key, unpretentious locale to enjoy on the water in La Conner, then WA Sips is the place to be.
