More spacious, updated, and cleaner than the downtown location - with a nicer patio!
It's difficult to spot, because although the address says Michigan Ave, it actually does not face that street, but is to the side of a larger plaza.
Aside from appearances, it's much like the Well downtown. Â Drink specials on various nights, the game on TV, Â current tunes playing on the electronic jukebox, a pretty middle-of-the-road crowd just looking to have a fun evening.
Overall a nice evening with good drinks, but the bartender was making a huge, disgusting faux paux...he was busy chatting it up with my friend and I (we were the only two there at the time....very early on a Saturday), while at the same time chewing tobacco and periodically spitting it in an empty beer bottle which he would then leave on the counter right in front of us as he went to tend to other things.  Each time he spit a out a juicy, foul smelling load (that's what she said) into that bottle it was all we could do to suppress our gag reflexes  (also what she said).  GROSS. Â
Aside from Bartender McNasty....it was a nice place.
So I live The Well in Detroit, this one not so much! Â It looks the same but the crowd and atomsphere totally different. Â And the drinks were so watered down!!! Â A few local bartenders from the other Dearborn bars are working here so that is nice! Â This bar is bigger than the one downtown so they could add extra tables but mostly everyone stands as the night goes on. Â I was there on a Saturday night and we got there just before 11 and found seats at the bar right away! Â When we left at 1:15 no seats!!! Â Parking isn't the best cause you have to park in the garage. Â I like other Dearborn bars but I was a little disappointed by this one!
Review Source:The Well in Dearborn is nothing short of a good time. Â The bar opened a year ago & it has become one of my favorite bars in Dearborn. Â If you have been to the downtown location then chances are when you walk in to this one you will feel right at home. Â The setup is very similar with a patio out front, the bar & a small area for dancing on the right, the bathrooms in the back & tables on the left. Â On the weekends they have a DJ who spins starting around 10 PM and by 11 this place starts to fill up pretty good so if you want a table you need to get there before 10 as there are only about 6-8 tables in the bar. Â
The crowd here is usually pretty mixed with people in their mid 20's to late 30's, it's not an upscale crowd but not a trashy crowd either. Â Around 1 this place gets overrun with younger guys wearing too much cologne who are just trying to get laid & that's usually when I leave but until that point I always have a great time! Â The wait staff is usually pretty on top of their customers & that is a big plus. Â I don't know if I prefer this one to the downtown location but it's convenient in location, Ross the owner is usually around on Saturdays but the vibe here is completely different than downtown.
They don't serve any food but you are welcome to order from somewhere else & have it delivered, when they first opened they would even go get it for you but I don't know if this is a service they still offer. Â When they first opened they would also pay for your parking (if you used the meters out front) but again, I don't know if they still offer that either. Â All in all, this is a good time so I suggest you check it out!
The Well seems to be Dearborn's newest watering hole, and I've got 2 words...cheap drinks!
I went there last night with some friends, and they had $3 whiskey drinks and $2.50 drafts. Â And that wasn't a happy hour special, that was all night! Â Needless to say, it would be a sin not to take advantage of that, so I had no choice in the matter!
The atmosphere of the bar is pretty basic, as if it could be any dive bar with a face lift. Â Nothing fancy, but everything is new and clean and shiny. Â Â They also have a nice outdoor patio with tables which is where I was. Â
The bar is a little hard to find, as it's in the back of a bigger building with other businesses, but they have a pretty big sign to help you out. Â Â Unfortunately I don't think they have food, so do not come hungry or you will be hiking it on foot to the nearest Jimmy John's. Â Since The Well doesn't add the "and grill" part to their name, I can't fault them for that.
Of course, any good time is mostly determined by the company you're with, but everyone in my party had a great time and loved the prices!
