Huge portions.  Good service.  Tasty chopped pork bar-b-que. Country music.  Good Ole Boys drinking Buds.

This place provided such a comforting atmosphere. There are pigs scattered behind the front counter and whereabouts. When we arrived an older woman probably in her late sixties greeted and seated us right away. We explained that we had never been here before and she talked to us like we were lifelong customers. We were also introduced to the three kinds of barbeque they have, a kind of mild, medium and hot bbq.

I got the pulled pork, waffle fries, and macaroni and cheese which all turned out great. I was too full for dessert but I'm willing to bet it was just as tasty. I would have never known about this place if it hadn't been for my gps and my open mind. I'm constantly looking for new food places to try and this definitely met standards. It also was nice that Werner's was so close to Tanger Outlets.

We stopped tonight on our way to Louisville. Food was great, service was great, price was great. We have lived in Austin TX, so we know what good BBQ tastes like. This wasn't TX quality, but it is also Southern OH off the interstate on a Sunday Night. Kids loved it. Definitely would stop again

Werner's Smoke House BBQ is positioned exactly as it should be... among a myriad of fast-food entities that surround the Tanger Outlet Mall.  This alone should give this neat, clean little BBQ house a chance for more wins than losses.

The restaurant was clean and the men's room (ahem...) was very clean.  Job No. 1 is cleanliness in a "country kitchen".  Grade A!  The staff at my large booth (serving five hungry men) was very good.  Brought soft drinks (no teas) and checked in with us as we were slow to order due to it being a meeting.  Eventually we ordered and the server remained pleasant and smiling.

My order?  Pulled Pork Hotshot which was pulled pork, smashed potatoes & gravy, corn and Texas Toast.  The meal was hot, almost steamy, and the pork was succulent.  I was happy.  Others ordered the Beef Brisket sandwich which came with waffle fries.  One switched out fries for green beans and, while the server got it wrong, they were 'johnny on the spot' to bring the beans quickly.  No one said "boo" about the food being anything but goooooooood.

Cost was decent.  The meal was $12 including soft drink.  I will say that Werner's had plenty of squirt bottles on the table; medium BBQ, mustard BBQ and hot BBQ.  I chose #3 and it was spicey - liked it a lot.

Me thinks Werner's does a nice job with BBQ.  It's not Memphis. It's not Carolina. It's not Georgia or Mississippi BBQ.  But who is in Ohio?  Werner's should get your business if you want to taste BBQ after the mall visit.

Very disappointed!  I see the sign all the time driving up I-71 by the outlet malls. I really thought this place would be a "real" Southern Barbecue place.  I was very wrong.  Having lived in Memphis and traveled through the Carolinas, Florida, Georgia and Texas I have had some great barbecue and bad.

Lindsey nailed their #1 problem about not brewing their own tea.  I was told the Southern Sweet Tea came in a bag!  What does that mean!  The pulled pork was pretty good and the sauce acceptable. The brisket looked like ribs.  It was 2 hard rectangular pieces of meat. 1 star for the brisket.  The choice of sides get 2 stars.  I asked if any were homemade.  I was told just the mashed potatoes.  The beans were plain probably from a giant can. The Onion Rings were OK.   I couldn't tell if the corn muffin was homemade.  Apple Sauce - C'mon how about home made baked apples or peach cobbler.  I would bet the green beans were out of the can too.

The carrot cake was dried out. The menu said this place has been a family tradition since 1991. I guess not many restaurants around.

A nice surprise in the middle of nowhere (well, more "civilization" than where I live, but still...)  Coming up to it, the place smelled good, a nice sign.  The service was very good.  The food: the ribs were pretty good, though not spectacular.  The three sauces- mustard, smoky sweet (I think) and hot, were all good.  Sweetie's BLT was excellent: good bread, real mayo, outstanding bacon!  The sides: meh.  We had mashed potatoes and gravy, mac and cheese, and baked beans.  None were awful, but really, nothing stood out.  We didn't finish any of them.

All in all, a nice meal when you have a bbq craving.  Reasonable prices, too.

This will be short and sweet. Food was good . Service was horrible, no one was friendly, didn't see our actual server more then twice. This would have been okay if it wasn't empty in their. Took forever to get the bill once the table was cleared.

A friend and I drove out to the outlets this morning to get some road miles on her new car and we stopped at Werner's for lunch.  She had the burger and potato wedges and I had the pulled pork sandwich and cole slaw.  The pork was very good and the cole slaw was creamy and delicious.  The mustard based BBQ sauce was wonderful; my friend used it on her burger and potatoes.  I tried a potato wedge and they  were great..crispy and nicely flavored.  Only one server, but she kept up with the lunch crowd.  My lunch was $7!  I would definitely stop here again when in the area of Rt. 35 and I-71.

The people who reviewed and said this place is great have never had GOOD BBQ. I'm talking Carolina, Memphis, St. Louis or Texas BBQ. This doesn't even come close to Good BBQ.

Problem #1 - They don't even brew their own sweet tea, they only have Brisk out of the fountain. Strike 1.

We had the Sampler of Brisket (which was a slab of something with sauce thrown on it), Pulled pork, Pork chop and Ribs. The best part was the Ribs and side garlic toast. Food was ok...meat wasn't hot, it was dry and came out VERY fast after we ordered, so it had been sitting under heat lamps. It also was drenched in sauce which I guess was supposed to make up for the lack of actual flavor. Strike 2.

Our waitress said the bare minimum, not very personable. She just stood there staring at us, like we were supposed to know that meant we were to order. I can handle this because it seems like the pickins for employees are slim around those parts.

Its the only option that isn't fast food besides Bob Evans around the outlets malls. They have a bar if you are into that. But I also counted about 10 flies next to our table because I swatted them as I ate.  Strike 3.

I'd definitely opt for fast food or even the food court next time.

The wife decided to take a day trip to Jeffersonville Outlet Mall and she "bribed" me with getting to pick lunch. And we gave Werner's Smoke House BBQ a shot tonight and was very pleasantly surprised with the menu and meal.

We started with the deep-fried pickles ($4.95) and they were pretty good. Small dill chips that were battered with a nice light batter. The wasabi-ranch dipping sauce was quite light on wasabi, but still pretty good. The cole slaw was good and definitely created locally, you don't get that out of a freezer bag.

Wife went with the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($4.49 + $1.49 for side of cole slaw) and we were both extremely impressed with the smoke ring on the meat and its flavor. They serve it "naked" and have three BBQ sauces - a classic, hotter and mustard-based - to choose from to allow for your taste buds to get the best options.

I went with the Pulled Pork Hotshot ($9.99) that was the pulled pork over mashed "taters" and covered with brown gravy and served with green beans, corn, and Texas toast. I was disappointed at first for now ordering the gravy on the side -- but the blend was exceptional and worked very-very well.

The only thing was below par was the service -- however it didn't appear to be restaurant wide as our server showed good personality with a few other tables around us. (So not sure if I had body odor or what.)

I overheard our server (and others) suggesting the Hog Wings ($9.99) as what they are famous for offering. I wanted to order a half-order ($5.99) for the shopping trip, but our server never returned to give me the opportunity.

Overall though, we've found a new place to grab a bite to eat when we are on I-71 heading to the Outlet Mall or Cincinnati.

For the Jeffersonville area this is 5 Stars!  They have a good bar with some draft selection and TVs.  The BBQ is pretty good and I would say the Pulled Pork is the bes meat they have.  Probably the best restaurant you are going to find in Jeffersonville.
