This place has awesome views of the lake and USED TO BE very good. We went there this past Saturday evening for dinner and were very disappointed. It was a really fabulous evening with spectacular views across the lake and temperatures in the 70's. That was the good news.
The bad news follows-  We started with soup and the onion soup tasted like potato soup with no flavor (my friend had the gazpacho which actually tasted very good). Then the  chicken entree was very small, overly salted, tough and overcooked.  Another entree, the risotto was mushy and the two desserts we ordered were terrible -  the sorbets were almost melted and a chocolate mousse like dish tasted floury!
I complained to the waitress about the chicken and that obviously fell on deaf ears as there wasn't even a hint of an apology or credit on the bill.
Its a shame because this was such a great location and a fabulous place to take visitors to Tahoe.
Food is extremely salty. Views are great. This was the best place in Tahoe LAST year. This year I would advise avoiding since there are many better place with a view and great food, I would recommend driving north to Kings Beach or Tahoe City. Hopefully they get their act together and repeat last year's food and service.
Review Source:My fiance and I will be getting married in September at the West Shore Cafe.  We had a rescheduled food tasting yesterday and could not be happier with the improvements the West Shore Cafe has made.  The staff was friendly and attentive, the ambiance has dramatically improved, and the food was fantastic.  We went from being concerned over our big day's location to worry free.  I would highly recommend  West Shore Cafe to anyone that is looking for a great meal with great views or when planning a huge event!
Review Source:My very first time out at Tahoe City ended well with a nice meal at West Shore. Â Not only was I satisfied with the food and drinks, but the service was exceptional as was the atmosphere and ambiance. Â We lucked out on the weather and were able to get a nicely placed table on the pier to enjoy the cool breeze. Â Although our table did not initially come with an umbrella to hide us from the sun, the service staff kept an eye out for an empty table to bring us one. Â Our server was great, bubbly, not overbearing, and gave helpful recommendations.
I started my meal with the meeks mule, an excellent choice if you're looking for something refreshing, not too sweet, and perfectly made. Â It's so good and tempting to drink more of however, that you should be sure to have a designated driver if you choose to do so.
Ordered the artisan greens which were a bit too dressed. Â I'd recommend ordering this with the dressing on the side. The oyster sampler was a great addition to my meal too, not too heavy after a day in the sun.
We ended our meal with the beignets. Â So so so yummy, I don't think I could ever leave this place without ordering them. Â It was definitely something to share but I could have finished this off on my own because it was that darn good!
This was our first visit and all we did was stop in for a beverage, but we definitely left with a positive impression and we are looking forward to coming back for dinner.
First, as already mentioned, you have a Jimmy Buffet like view of the lake, and you can almost hear 'boat drinks' as you look out at the boats on the lake.
Second, our bartender was great. Â I've read a few other yelps here and not everybody has had the experience that we had today. Â He was friendly, answered our questions about the place, and even introduced us to a new drink. Â It was a Bloody Mary with Parmesan cheese on the lip of the glass instead of salt and a drizzle of balsamic. Â It tasted great. Â He also shared with us the dinner menu, and it looked like it had some very nice options.
Third, the building has recently been refurbished (about five years ago according to our bartender), and it turned out great.
Again, we left interested in returning for more than just drinks at the bar.
We went to West Shore Cafe Tuesday night for a glass of wine on their patio overlooking Lake Tahoe. Â Arriving at 5:15 PM, we asked if any reservations were available. Â "No, we are fully booked." Â We counted 30 tables. Â ALL empty except for two. Â An hour later, (6:15 pm) maybe two more tables were occupied. Â I asked again. Â Have there been any cancellations? Â "Well, Â our 5:15 pm is a no-show and we gave the table to someone else." Â What? Â For one thing they NEVER took my name for a wait list and these newbie hostesses obviously don't pay attention to how long they let a table languish before giving it to some paying customer. At this point, one hour later almost ALL the table were still empty. Â The hostess and her cohort were pouring over a handwritten seating chart like ti was a bio-chem final exam for Med School AND proceeded to ignore me! Â So rude and snooty! Â NOT a good first impression! Â The owner needs to do something about these uppity girls and teach them to TRY to treat the customer like they are wanted! Â They could have easily seated us when we got there........Also, the Napa Cab was vinegar and we had to send it back. Â They were nice about it but it really should not have happened. Â We had the squash blossom and asparagus appetizer and the asparagus was tough. Â Chef really shouldn't use the whole tough stem! Â All in all, a real disappointment!! Â A beautiful spot ruined by a poorly managed restaurant!
Review Source:The food was decent but expensive. Â The view makes up for the mediocre food
But the view did not make up for the horrific attitude of our server. Â She was rude and when we asked a few questions she said yeah, yeah Ever heard of yes???
She dropped the bill without a word and when we said thank you she did not respond
Shouldn't a server thank us? Â The hostess assistant was equally rude. They should bring the valet in to become a server. Â He could not have been nicer, more welcoming and polite. Â Big tip for him
I had high expectations for this establishment based on feedback from friends who regularly dine here. Â We had reservations set for 8pm on a Friday. Â When we arrived we were greeted by a very happy boat tender by the name of B Rad.. Â He was the highlite of the evening. Â When we checked in it was almost like they didn't know we were coming. Â We waited for 20 minutes while they figured out where to put us. Â This set the tone for the entire evening. Â We ordered drinks and apps, then the main course. Â The meal was going as planned and the wait staff was great. Â We ordered some cocktails and they tasted metered. Â If you like to taste the alcohol in your drink I would order a double. Â After about an hour and 50 minutes our mains came out. Â Everyone was very happy with their meal but this happiness was muted because of how long we had to wait. Â If our table was ready when we arrived and the meal tempo was quicker I would have given this restaurant a 4 star. Â If they poured true free pour cocktails like Sunnyside or the Beacon, I would move them to a 5 star.
Review Source:The new owners turned this place into a real gem.
The food is great, the service is great and the price point is fine. Since the first time my family and I walked in off the slopes during a crazy storm and put on their slippers for a nice cozy lunch, we knew we had found "our place".
Lunch -
The lunch menu is perfect. Everyone can find something and be happy.
The kids meals are great and only $10.00 (way better then the overpriced Frog-dog, Belgium Waffle, and drink at the shack outside North Lodge, for $18.00).
Apres Ski-
With a nice cocktail in hand, the fabulous surroundings and fantastic view really makes you appreciate the true beauty of Homewood. Even my kids love it. The hot chocolate and chocolate chip cookie are rewards my kids will ski for all day.
Dinner -
Fantastic! Yess, the chef, has a way with food. We were there with a group of 10 adults and every single person walked away happy.
We have never stayed at the Inn part but based on everything else, it would be a first pick.
Just dropped by for happy hour after a day of skiing last weekend and was blown away.
The appetizers (some were $5!), drinks and beers were spot on. Â
We were a little concerned that the place is too nice for a couple of beat up folks on their way home from a long day at Squaw but that wasn't the case. Â The bar was great and they have two big picnic tables for folks like us. Â We grabbed a quick bite, had a drink, chatted with the bartender and couldn't have been happier. Â
I have to admit I went here a few years ago and the place wasn't that great. Â Something has changed and it's a world of difference... Â This newer improved version of West Shore is now going to be a regular spot for me.
Ignore the negative reviews! We arrived at the West Shore Cafe and Lodge on Friday afternoon. Enjoyed a fun après ski hour. Came back for dinner. Our waiter, Seth, was the most attentive, friendly server we have had the pleasure of meeting. I started with the beet salad which arrived beautifully arranged. It was delicious. Our entrees were the King Salmon, 2 steaks and one pasta. All were perfectly prepared. Our side of Mac 'n cheese was easily large enough for four people and was the arguably the highlight of our meal. Of special note, was the pasta with San Marzano tomatoes, spinach, pine nuts and roasted garlic.
We returned for lunch the next day and were treated like old friends. Our server Eric was wonderful throughout another fine meal. Our server from the night before, Seth, even came over to say hello. We look forward to coming back to this restaurant soon.
My husband and I just experienced our last meal at West Shore Cafe. When I sat down and nearly drew blood from the nail in the seat cushion, I should have known. 3+ years of trying to give this place every benefit of the doubt, has proved to be in vain.
Note to kitchen and staff: burgers ordered med/med well should not be served (and then re-served post-feedback and microwaving on a soggy bun) RARE 2x and 30 minutes later and then charged at 100% of menu price. Brussel sprouts w/ bacon are dried out and screaming for some element of liquid - lemon zest or wine or broth - anything.
Simple aspects of service elude this pretty lake-side setting that holds such promise but fails to deliver. I should have listened to my husband tonight - next time I will. It's just not worth the $$. You can get similar lake views from other dining spots in Tahoe - skip West Shore Cafe.
We attended a wedding at the lovely West Shore Cafe and Inn and stayed in the Peak Ellis room upstairs. Â Although we did not stay in one of the Lake Tahoe-facing suites, our room was cozy and well appointed with a romantic fireplace and comfy furnishings.
From start to finish the staff went out of their way to be helpful. Â One extremely helpful staff member even helped us source discount coupons for our snowmobile tour!
We also really enjoyed the included breakfasts. Â The croissants were especially awesome, perfectly flaky on the outside and pleasurably chewy on the inside.
For those of you planning your nuptials, the wedding we attended was gorgeous. Â The ceremony took place outside on the lakeside patio with the glorious sunset blazing in the background. Â The afterparty took up the entire restaurant inside with plenty of room for the guests to eat dinner and dance the night away.
PARTING THOUGHT: West Shore Cafe and Inn is a great place for a romantic woodland getaway! Â Too bad there are no direct flights from NYC!
Romantic al fresco dinner on the water. Watched the sunset and the moon rise while live music played. Lovely, friendly and proficient service. Great cocktail list. Easy formality that makes the restaurant feel special without being stuffy. It's the type of place I could see someone wanting to rent out for a wedding as it has the feel of a gracious old manor or a Princeton eating club (dark wood floors, antique lighting fixtures, Oriental carpets, etc).
Food was solid, but not outstanding. The tempura asparagus was very good and came with delicious dipping sauces, but the shrimp pasta and pork chops with mac and cheese were just okay. What you are paying for is a romantic atmosphere and great service.
It's rare I say that, but given how good those other two things were I wasn't disappointed in the food not being stellar. I'd definitely go back, but maybe share some additional appetizers rather than order entrees.
I appreciate that they set a slower pace for the meal and purposely allow you time in between courses to relax and enjoy the beautiful views and company. Such a romantic evening!
One of the most UNFRIENDLY restaurants I have ever visited. Â The young women running the place were almost hostile. Â They made us feel that we had walked in on a private party. Â We did not feel welcome here at all. The view is beautiful, but it's not worth the poor, poor treatment by the staff. We will not be returning.
PROS:
View
CONS:
Horrible service
Unfriendly staff
Long wait
Overpriced
Average food
Pretentious attitude
My family with children (12 and 8) dined here twice last week. Â Once for lunch and once for dinner. Â We wanted to make sure that our Yelp review was not jaded by one bad visit. Â Sadly, Â the service and pace of the meal were repeated on our second visit and are POOR at best. Â
There must be some serious problems in the kitchen. Â After ordering simply on both occasions, salad and entree for adults and kids menu for the kids - it took 50 minutes to receive our first course! Â All of the wait staff moves around quite a bit (physically) but I cannot figure out what they all are actually doing. Â On our first visit, we could not get our waiter to return to the table to take our credit card for payment and had to walk to the front to get it processed. Â It also took 45 minutes to get our first and only course for lunch.
On the second visit, we could have easily just walked out with nobody really knowing we were there at all. Â I am giving the restaurant 1 star for the view and decor alone. Â If anyone reading this review watches "Restaurant Impossible" on the Food Network, this kitchen and wait staff would certainly be candidates for a complete makeover. Â The decor and views are amazing - but after that, the meal simply deteriorates into inefficiency and lack luster food. Â
Nobody greeted us on our departure either - so they simply have a market and location (Homewood) all to themselves, for now, with no concept of building repeat business clientele.
Save your time and money and go to Wolfdales in Tahoe City instead for first rate food and service.  Regrettably, I cannot find any reason to recommend this restaurant and we will not  be returning to West Shore Cafe.
Went to this restaurant for lunch with friends & was very disappointed in the food.
The restaurant is beautiful as is the view but the food is mediocre at best & overpriced. Â Had the lobster roll which was skimpy & dry. Â Not at all the way a
Lobster roll should taste, in fact it tasted frozen. Â It came with a small salad which
Also had very little dressing . Â All of this for $18. Â The Bloody Mary was tasteless
& served with a slice of cold bacon in it. Â There are far better restaurants in the
West Shore area of Tahoe than this one. Â I doubt we will be going back anytime
Soon.
We went to the West Shore Cafe this last Thursday night (7/19) The ambiance was amazing but I was disappointed with the service and with the food quality. Â At the time we made our reservation, we requested a window table and I informed them that we were celebrating our anniversary. When we arrived, they didn't have the requested table available for us and there was no mention of our anniversary. Figuring that there might have been a problem with the reservation, I mentioned about that we were celebrating. The girls at the front desk just nodded, no congratulations or nice words.
Once seated in a lovely booth, our waiter seemed very professional. Â He made a few recommendations. Â He suggested the tempura asparagus which was terrible - greasy and flavorless. Â I had the beat salad which was excellent. Â The waiter didn't ask how it was and I didn't want to say anything and ruin the moment. Â The next problem came with the next course, my oversized pork chop was raw-rare. Â I like red/rare meat but not with pork. Â I sent it back to be grilled longer and once it was returned, part of it was then cooked properly but once I got closer to the bone, I realized that the meat was raw. Â Once again, the waiter didn't bother to ask how the meat was and once he came to clear the plates, we showed him the raw meat. Â He simply shrugged his shoulders and walked away. Â No manager ever came to see us or offer an apology.
We ordered a dessert to split - the chocolate brownie with ice cream and popcorn. It was very tasty but the brownie bottom was burned, bad enough that we couldn't break it apart. Â We saw the waiters show up to sing happy birthday to someone at another table. Â Still, we got no mention of the anniversary. Â
Overall, we had a lovely evening but there are other restaurants close by that I would recommend instead for the price (including Sunnyside). Â I was mostly disappointed that the manager never came over and that I was charged full price for a raw pork chop. Â With some good customer service, the experience could really have been turned around. Â They need to work on that because even the best establishments have "off" nights but they don't usually have poor management.
Extremely poor service. Â When you go to a high price restaurant and you have to hand your plates to the server to clear the table of the salad plates for them to make room for your dinner ... And then having to do it again at desert. Â It was just unbelievable. Â Too add on to that, the water was never filled at dinner and the maitre'd brought the wrong vintage bottle of wine out and then blew it off like it didn't make a difference.
Food was ok. Â My mom and aunt had the salmon and said it was good, but the mashed potatoes looked like they were from a box. Â My uncle had the pork chop and it looked ok but oversized. Â My stepdad had the steak frittes and it looked decent and properly cooked. Â I ordered the burger medium rare and it came out well done. Â Fries were decent. Â Desert was not that great either. Â My ice cream sundae was half melted. Â My aunt and uncle had the brownie and said it was good. Â My mom had the amaretto creme brulee and I thought it was bad ... It didn't taste like amaretto at all. Â Plus no offer of coffee to put a cap on the atrocious service.
Beautiful location. Beautiful restaurant. Fantastic Food!
My husband, Jacob and I went there simply on Yelp reviews so I had to add my own. We started with the crab and corn fritters light and crunchy and very flavorful. Â As it was chilly that evening we opted next for the soup course and we couldn't pass up their two options. Jacob's corn chowder was one of the best soups either of us has ever had, creamy, spicy, perfect consistency, by far the winner of the evening. My roasted pepper soup was incredibly flavorful, but look out, since it is placed in the oven to bake up the puff pastry on top the soup was a thousand degrees, it made enjoying it risky for a bit and slightly delayed.
For our main courses I had the wild salmon, perfectly cooked (I asked for it cooked all the way through as I was eight months pregnant at the time). I could have used an entire jar of the tomato jam, sweet and tart but rich with that slow roasted tomato flavor, it was fantastic and went well with everything on the plate. Jacob had the pork chop, which warning number two it's a double, so be prepared for a huge portion of meat. The mac n cheese was very good, but the crust created by the brown sugar brine on the pork with the housemade apple sauce was the highlight of that dish.
We finished with a mango and coconut creme brulee, a light and velvety ending to our rich courses, which was accompanied by a large macaroon cookie much to Jacob's delight. It was a perfectly relaxed evening of dining out. Thank you Yelp!
What a ridiculously long drive it is to get here. Fortunately there are free valet and great bloody marys (albeit expensive ones). Â We waited for a while to be seated because the place was packed. Â It's a beautiful little in with the restaurant in back with a private pier where a bunch of very nice boats were parked. Â We ordered some french fries with an assortment of dipping sauce and a crab bruschetta. Â Both were of good quality, but lacked any real enjoyment for taste. Â Despite, we were hopeful for the rest of the meal since we had already gone all that way.
We were eventually seated and ordered our food. Â We got cobb salads, burgers, and lobster rolls. Â The food was ok. Â Not great by any means. Â And the prices would warrant more. Â The quality was good, but the taste was just bland all around.
Summary: Beautiful views. Â Good spicy bloody marys. Â Overpriced food, long waits, overrated food, good quality but lacking in taste. Â Service was alright. Â Not worth the drive if you don't live in Tahoe.
Thrilled about this place.... I am amazed that they have such fair to middlin' reviews. I did note it was closed for lunch today, Monday... so maybe the lunch wasn't faring so well. I know it's a seasonal place, and they just were forced to remove tables from the extended dock. Â But it's a beautiful place, and a stunning view... it beats the food anywhere around West Shore + North and South of there. Â It's amazing. Â Chambers Landing is no comparison, Sunnyside is lacking compared to this place. Â We went for dinner and sat outside after having drinks in the stunning bar area. Â The architecture of the building, as well as the rich tones and textures of the interior design, is awesome.
It feels like an old timey jaunt to a sophisticated & high class party at a mansion a la 1920's Lake Tahoe.
Our server was phenomenal.. walked that line of friendly vs professional incredibly well. Â She was actually pretty playful, and earnest... it was really refreshing.
Wifey's Beet Salad with goat cheese, radicchio, grapefruit was awesome, and the presentation was stellar. Â I had a poke sashimi appetizer, which was delicious.. not too fine cut so I could still taste the fish. Â Wife didn't like the presentation of her trout, littered with fries over the top of it. It was sort of an odd presentation, but it was cooked well. Â Her dessert of a lemon cake was unbelievable with a basil creme anglaise. Just amazing. Â
Okay.. don't judge me. Â But talk about a different take on a burger... the West Shore burger ground beef was mixed with butter and bacon, and served on a large whole wheat english muffin. I added cheese and avocado and I have to say... I didn't die. And it was one of the most interesting and rich burgers I have ever had. Â Read that = DELICIOUS. Â It took me two days to eat it, but hell. Â The fries were a treat too.
I might not say it's 5 stars for food overall... but for the atmosphere, the menu's creativity, the bar and dinner service... it's amazing, and I think it's safe to say this is your only *MUST* visit during your West Shore stay.
For sure.
I stayed at the Inn and dined/drank at the restaurant, and I'd give both high ratings. The hotel is really nice - my room was quiet and very comfortable. It's a small Inn with maybe 10 rooms max, and they are all really nice and pretty ritzy, which is hard to find on the lake. The inn is located right across from Homewood ski area (great for the winter) and right above a dock restaurant (great for boating and views in the summer). The restaurant is really nicely appointed - the wall facing the lake has large windows that open on nice nights, and there's a big deck as well as a dock where people dine and drink. The food and drinks are good. My only complaint is that they don't allow dogs so people leave their dogs on their boats and they cry and bark like crazy which is sad and awful to listen to. Otherwise, I'd definitely head here on a nice summer day - the view is unbeatable!
Review Source:West Shore has officially opened under new management (again) but this time, it seems to have struck some kind of idyllic balance between classic casual lake food and the upscale ritzy (see: expensive) menu of old.
We pulled up early and the staff was very gracious about picking us up from the buoy, driving us back to the boat with two dogs who had jumped in after us, and eventually seating us on the dock (open again, yay!) so we could keep a watchful eye on said dogs. The food was delicious and moderately priced. We had the crispy asparagus - which comes with three dips - and I went with the blackened shrimp salad. Our waitress was friendly and chatty and told us all about the afternoon menu, served 3-5 p.m., perfect for the too-late-for-lunch-but-we're-still-hungry crowd.
So happy to see West Shore finally hit its stride. Hope the new management is here to stay!
This place is absolutely delightful. The view is gorgeous and the food is prepared perfectly. I had the salmon with the horseradish mashers. Sweet lord I love horseradish, and these were soooooo delicious. Salmon was cooked perfectly, moist and flaky, seasoned well.
Overall, atmosphere-food combo is a winner!
Thank goodness this place exists in Tahoe. I haven't found a place that compares in regards to quality and ambiance in the area (better then Sunnyside or Chambers as it isn't as crowded/kitchy and I think the quality of food is better. ) Â
View = 5 stars. I hate when I go to Tahoe and I have to spend hours in a bar when I would rather be outdoors enjoying nature. That's why I left the City! KILLER lake and mountain view.
Ambiance and Decor = 5 stars. Gorgeous - the mountain cabin inspired wood and furniture is elegant but comfortable and is totally my style.
Food = 4.5 stars. The price for the quality is great, and I'm comparing the food to other Tahoe establishments. Best food I've had in Tahoe, but that's also cause the offerings in Tahoe are very low-key (i.e. not very special).
Note I'm a pescatarian, meaning I'm a vegetarian but eat fish. It is a good thing I eat fish because this place has loads of fish dishes, particularly in the apps menu. The problem was that I loaded up on fish in the beginning (how could I resist Crab Bruschetta, Crab Fritters and Baked Oysters?) that by the time I got to main course I felt like I needed to choose the one vegetarian option. But thankfully I love LOVE Fried Green Tomatoes so that's ok. (Southern gal in me.) Suggestion to put some blue cheese or something on it to make it more filling for the vegetarians.
My girlfriend ordered the salmon and it was SO DELICIOUS. Next time I come I'm going to go lighter on the fish apps so I can order the salmon. Though the lobster roll sounds good... oy...
Service = 5 stars. Very good but nothing particularly exciting. Everything was executed properly I don't have the need to knock them for anything.
Drinks = 5 stars. Couldn't decide what to get so I ended up drinking a lot. Whoopsie. The Lemon Drop was one of the best I've had. The French Negori was great, too.
See you soon WSC!
Only open during summer, which only makes this place even more special and unique! Sometimes on opening day along with Sunnyside.
Boat here, the only way and the best way to arrive!
Took out the Master Craft from TC, great ride gorgeous view.
Sat on the patio, ham platter, cheese platter, Veggi pasta and lots of Lemon Drops. Â The food was delicious, cocktails hypnotizing, maybe we just had too much. Don't boat and drink, or was that don't drink and boat?
I can't remember how many times I've been here, they have NEVER EVER let me down or leave sober. Â Always love this place! Fun place, great service and delicious food.
Get your West Shore Cafe Cravings in before they close for the season!
About the restaurant food: Very nice and delicious
About the services: very very great servcie. Â The front desk Lady "Gale", she is so nice and very detail.
About the Inn: Super clean, wonderful and unbeatable view, great services. Â The only cons is the noise comes from the building. Â Hope they will fix it and this will be a great choice if you are going to ski at homewood ski resort.
3 stars based on a luncheon visit this past weekend. But, we will go again, and hopefully often.
Ambiance and decor: 5+
The view (directly looking at the Lake's east shore): 5+
Parking: 2 (but let me qualify - a holiday ski weekend, an over-full parking lot at Homewood Ski area, a full restaurant lot, as well. Perhaps our mistake for dining at West Shore Cafe this weekend (President's Day) - I only remind others to consider this particular point (or lack of points).
Menu and wait- staff: 4. Â Note, however, prices are most reasonable considering the view and trappings of the property. Understated elegance.
Consideration of families dining (luncheon service): 2. Noise levels and attention to the kids is not to be a strike against the Cafe.....yet it overwhelmed many of the other 'mature' diners. Based upon those around us at the time, average age was under 15 years! Oh well.
Again, congrats to the new owners, menu options and prices, gracious hostess and waitresses!
We will go, again. We highly encourage you to do so, also.
I don't understand how West Shore Cafe can get so many negative reviews. Â We had dinner here and enjoyed our meal very much and the ambience. Â The service was very good. Â The combination of food, ambience and service earned a solid 5 stars from me. Â
Our one mistake was not taking the hostess up on seating us outside. Â We thought it was too cold. Â After dinner, we walked out on the patio (with its heat lamps) and thought it was beautiful (and not too cold).
As for the comments about elitism, my response is so what? Â Does every restaurant on north and west shore have to be like Bridgetender and Rosie's Diner? Â It's nice to be able to eat at a place that has an upscale feel to it.
I am soooo sad-- what a liability for the West Shore.  The building and views are amazing, but everything else is a BUST.  When you walk in, the cold, unwelcoming feeling is abound.  In Lake Tahoe, amongst the casual West Shore environment, this place reeks of  elitism.  And why?  A lot of folks have money who come here to vacation, and are used to prices in the big city, but these are absurd.  The servers are pretentious, the menu is totally overpriced with only a handful of dishes available, and the food quality is HORRIBLE.  I had the Barramunda fish and I sent it back. Â
I WISH I could take this place over as their GM, fire all the workers, revamp the menu and ROCK THE JOINT!!!!
Wish I could go back to this beautiful place since it's a stones throw from our house in Tahoe....but i doubt even for a cocktail.
WORST LUNCH EVER! Even the waterfront table and beautiful weather could not save this dining experience. From the get-go our meal was doomed. I should have thrown in the towel before we even got off the boat as the dock hand was giving all kinds of attitude. The hostess was useless and told us we could not get a table with out a reservation, yet she had 20+ tables open. The service was the shits, the food was mediocre at best and was not cheap. I don't mind paying for a good meal and I'm usually somewhat easy to please, but this was a joke. The people at the two tables near us were irate (which made for a few good laughs between us) as the food took FOREVER. Finally after over 2 hours we managed to pay our (very expensive) bill and head back out on the water to salvage the rest of one of those spectacular days on the lake.
