  We have been going to the Westphalia Inn for 30 years now. Family special occasions (retirements, graduations, anniversaries, birthdays and anything else we can think of) is when we head out to Westphalia. My in-laws live in Jefferson City and they are the ones who introduced me to this place. The wine stuff is new, the bar upstairs and the food on the main level has been around for a LONG time!
  
  The only thing I can really comment on is the food, In all the times I have visited I have never tried the German Pot roast and it was probably 20 years until I even knew they offered it. We usually reserve one of the several rooms so we don't get to see what others are ordering and the meal of Chicken and Ham is given when we make the reservations. I do recommend reservations as we have never not made them, but they have always been full when we have gone. Everything is offered until you are full. Calling it an all-you-can-eat place just isn't right! While nothing is WOW that is served, it is honest home cooking you would expect at your Grandma's house. The atmosphere and unassuming décor, service and town make for a truly enjoyable evening. Don't expect gourmet or a foodie experience, expect a neat place that you will have fun telling others about.
  
  A really neat place to have dinner if you are out towards Jeff City and want something I doubt you have had before. This place has changed hands several times and seems to have different hours each time we go there, check out the website before going! I look forward to our next visit to try the wines!

  We stopped in for a wine tasting on Sunday afternoon. We got to taste one of the few sulfite-free wines produced in the US, and talk with the winemaker.  I highly recommend stopping in, as the Inn is a beautiful place, filled with neat antiques and the wine is very good. I especially like the Norton.
  
  Next time, we will stop in for food as well.

  Filled to the brim with antiques, we made our way to the top-floor Norton room for a wine tasting.  The sign on the outside is inconspicuous, but I'd done my research and knew this place doubles as a winery...We sampled seven wines and were really impressed by the nice flavors of the Norton, Cabernet Franc, Prodigal Son (blend of the first two) and their Chocolate Wine, which was very unique.  I usually taste Nortons rather cautiously as many aren't good, but we really liked this one and it was reasonably priced at $15/bottle.
  
  All of their wines are sulfite-free, one of only about seven wineries in the US that make wine that way, the server told us.  The staff was friendly and the Norton room also served as an event space - they were preparing for a small Christmas party when we arrived but were kind enough to let us impose a bit and do a tasting.  It was a pretty informal place - the tasting was done at the bar beside paying, regular bar patrons, but it was in a pretty charming little town with a large imposing church not too far out of our way from St. James.  I'm glad we stopped and while they didn't offer may wine, the ones we tried were all good.
