Pretty cool lounge to have a few drinks and relax. It's fairly new so it's still up and coming. The bartender Ifrain (don't know if I spelled it correctly) is quite friendly, he offered some samples of their small but respectable craft beer selection. The place itself is in a rather random location, next to a karate studio in a strip mall but it is really nice and modern from the inside, you almost forget you're in Downey when you step inside. They do enforce a dress code so make sure to be dressed spiffy.
It's kinda sad to see bad reviews about this place just because of the dress code, I mean yes it's Downey but they're obviously targeting a specific crowd and it should be respected, they don't want any swag fag or thug patrons. Prices are somewhat steep compared to other drinking establishments in the city but it's a small price to pay for the great hospitality and experience. I see a lot of potential and wish them best of luck in the future.
So my friend and I decided to check this place out last Saturday night ONLY because I live fairly close by. Â This place is ridiculous. Â First of all it's in this almost abandoned shopping center with nothing but a Donut shop and a run down karate dojo. Â I parked in the empty parking lot, and there were 3 bouncers outside next to a sign that said "VALET". Â Valet? Really? Â For what? lol.
Anyway we go inside and the first thing I see is this giant waterfall/jacuzzi looking thing in the middle of the room with a tall metal fence around it. Â This thing is right in the middle, it's huge, and it's made of cheap plastic rocks. I'm pretty sure thats why the bar had this weird bathroom water smell. Â I don't know what the owner was thinking, but he's definitely trying too hard.
I do have to say that the rest of the inside does look nice, there's a couple cocktail tables, and of course the flat screen TV's on the walls. Â I go to the bar and order a couple beers on tap and oh my freaking goodness it was $9 beer night. Â I'm sorry, this is not a fancy place in Hollywood that warrants charging $9 for 1 beer. Â
Anyway, the people are what you would imagine they are. Â Late 30's hispanics who think they're the ish because they are at a new "fancy" club. Â I was there for less than an hour and I saw some really rude people in there. Â Not everyone, but enough to make me feel grossed out. Â
This place reminded me of this other club in Downey called "Club Lounge". Â It was the same class of people. Â No class. Â
I will never go back there. I'm sure it won't last too long anyway.
