I was in town for the weekend and somebody had recommended Whiskey Jacques. While in the area one day, we stopped in and sat at the bar, asking if they had any happy hour, which they said no, "definitely not on a friday." Â They never once offered to give us a full food menu or asked if we wanted anything else other than a drink. Â When finished with our 1 drink we asked to close out, and the bartender didn't say a word. Â Very rude service and definitely not a place I would recommend. Â When I am in the area again I will not be coming back to Whiskey Jacques.
Review Source:Whiskey's is by far the best bar in Sun Valley. Pizza is awesome, place gets cracking when it's crowded in town. The best thing about Whiskey's is Dollar Night. Every Sunday and Tuesday they have dollar well drinks and shots. Come in and make some bad decisions. You will probably regret it the next day !!
Review Source:If rudeness--alternating with being ignored--by the bartender (manager?) is your idea of a good time, then by all means make Whiskey Jacques the centerpiece of your evening. Â Bonus: if you thrill to the sound of the f-word and even the c-word, then grab a table close to the bar or the grill to hear the staff's nonstop personal comments.
I've been to Whiskey's many times over the years and it was good fun for a long time, but look at the dates on the reviews and you'll see that things have changed.
From New York for mountain bike nationals, my buddies and I tried to have a post race night at the bar. Â At the age of 22 or 23 this bar is not the happenin spot. No yolo'ing will go down. No socializing and good times will be had. Â Uptight and full of hicks. The manager is a dickwad. Enjoy if that's your thing.
Review Source:This was the first place we wandered into on our first foray into town and we came back every day during our visit. We took up a spot at the end of the bar and were soon in a conversation with one of the locals, whose son was behind the bar. I felt like we had known everyone for years.
We mainly focused on the drinks but did manage to sample a bit of the food apre's ski. The chicken strips and the nachos were both solid. Live music on Saturday night, Drive-by Truckers on the sound system in the afternoon, good prices on drinks all the time.
I can't wait for my 2013 trip!
After dinner at the Pioneer Saloon, we decide to go to Whiskey Jacques because we hear that the live music is pretty good. Â We rolled up to the front door, and the bouncer/ID checker tells us that there's a cover charge. Â There were 11 of us, and it would be $25 for all of us. Â I know, peanuts. Â But we really didn't feel the need to pay cover charge just to sit around and hang out. Â As we turned to walk away, the bouncer dropped that idea and let us in for free. Â
When we walked in, we knew we were going to have a good time - air hockey table and arcade games galore. Â My friend challenged me to a hunting challenge - once I got the hang of things, I SMOKED him on virtually hunting elk and other similar animals, but he apparently has a faster trigger finger and beat me on the quail round.
It's a fun place to hang out with friends, listen to music and play arcade games!
I've been going to Whiskey Jacques for a quite a while now. Â This place definitely draws an ecliptic mix of people, from the young 20-somethings, to the geriatrics. Â Live bands most nights of the week, especially weekends, makes this place where a lot of people go at the end of the night. Â There is typically a cover charge of about $5. Â Dollar Tuesdays (drafts and mixed drinks) will ensure that you have a fun night for cheap. Â Fun in the winter and summer time. Â Note: Â Getting a cab can take while, so figure out how you are getting home before you hit Whiskey Jacques (the KART bus stops running around midnight).
Review Source:I was in Idaho for a wedding and the bride and groom had a party at Whisky Jacques. I was really impressed -- the place was packed on a Labor Day Friday night, the music was good, and most importantly the drinks were good and affordable. Coming from San Francisco, the lower drink prices were a shock to my system. It was "the place" to be in downtown Ketchum every night I was there.
Review Source:i was in Idaho for business for the second night, and i was bored off my ass. i wandered into whiskey jacques' expecting to be stared at and treated like an alien (illegal... extraterristrial, take your pick) and was really surprised to find such an awesome place. whiskey's has a large projector screen so that you can sit anywhere in the restaurant/bar and watch the game. the staff is super friendly and definitely helped an outsider pick an awesome new beer. the food was good and spicy. i had a spicy meatball sandwich that just stuck to my ribs. it was damned good.
the bartender was freakin hilarious and was always willing to keep a conversation up for as long as you could speak coherrently. i met a few great people at the bar and i hope i have to go back to idaho :) i'll definitely go back to whiskey jacques' for some good food and hilarious company.
