Whistle Stop Cafe

Service good, food fair. Visited for the movie nostalgia. The fried green tomatoes were average, burger was fair. Overall nothing that would warrant a return :-(

We visited this great little place while on vacation from Las Vegas, Nevada.  Like all the tourists, we had to order the Fried Green Tomatoes and had unsweetened Iced Tea to drink.  The tomatoes were very good, but a little pricey (to be expected at tourist place).  We would give the food an average 3 rating but the 4 rating is due to the location itself.  Since we are fans of the movie, we loved the location, seeing the bar-b-que place outside and sitting on the porch.  It is also the locate of a virtual Geocache relating to the move so it was a score for us all the way around...we had a great time!

We've eaten at Whistle Stop twice to fulfill our craving for Fried Green Tomatoes.  They are always served hot, have a great crust, and the side sauce has just enough heat.  Wonderful!  Last time I tried the collards, which were cooked just right - not mushy - but they could have been served a little hotter.  The corn bread pudding is like a dessert and delicious.  Not crowded, but there was a steady stream of guests, and a few of the staff seemed a little overwhelmed, but the take-out service was still good.  We'll be regulars!
